This research has been planned to identify the factors related to the assessment of “The Leadership Orientations” of the students receiving sports education (physical education and sports teacher, sports management, recreation, trainer education departments) in the universities in Turkey. This descriptive study has a population consisting of the students receiving sports education in the universities in Turkey and a sample of totally 1032 students (N: 1032) (who attend physical education and sports teacher, sports management, recreation, trainer education departments). The data has been collected using The Student Information Form and the Leadership Orientation Survey. According to the means of sub-scales of “Leadership Orientations by Sexes” obtained by the students receiving sports education, a significant difference has been identified between the frames of “Transformational Leadership” and “Charismatic Leadership”. This difference can be explained by the fact that male students consider themselves more competent compared to the female students in these two sub-scales. Consequently, when the mean points of the sub-scales of the Leadership Orientation Survey [Self] obtained by the students receiving sports education in Turkey are compared, it has been observed that the direction and strength of relation between sex, class, department and school is “positive” and “moderate” and also those students have “people-oriented leadership” characteristics among the sub-scales of the leadership orientation frames.

This study investigated the leisure time habits of BEd students from Sagaing University of Education in Myanmar. A total of 400BEd students in Sagaing University of Education participated in this study. Descriptive research design and survey method were used.  “Leisure time: activities and satisfaction” section from “ISSP 2007 Leisure Time and Sports Questionnaire” was adapted and used to collect the required data. Findings from questionnaire surveys revealed that students commonly used their leisure time for relaxation and entertainment (67.25%). It was also found that there was a significant difference in students’ leisure time habits by gender at  =0.01 level. Moreover, by four habits, male students used more leisure times for physical, emotional, and social activities because their mean values are significantly different at  =0.01 level. In the total mean scores, since second-year students’ mean scores are highest, they used mostly their leisure times among students (Mean=37.38). The mean and percentage of “to relax” are 2.82 and 16.40% and so it is highest among reasons. Moreover, the mean and percentage of “lack of time due to school” are 1.76 and 14.75% and so it is highest among limitations. This study hopes to give some ideas to support students’ leisure activities.

Abstract Background The current study aimed to evaluate the previously unexplored correlation between undergraduate medical students’ attendance during their surgical clerkship and their academic performance. It also aimed to explore any difference in the attendance rate between male and female students and whether this difference, if present, affects the academic performance. Methods A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study has been conducted on 331 undergraduate medical students during their surgical clerkships at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS) at Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Bahrain from September 2018 to June 2020. Results There was a positive statistically significant correlation between students’ attendance during surgical clerkship and academic performance (r = 0.360, P <  0.01). Mean attendance rate was greater in each increasing category of academic performance: 47.95% in the weak category (less than 65%, n = 42), 57.62% in the good performance category (65% to less than 75%, n = 108), 67.82% in the very good performance category (75% to less than 85%, n = 126), 83.16% in the excellent performance category (85% and above, n = 55). The mean attendance rate of male students was 59.76% (SD = 25.73), compared to 66.92% (SD = 24.30) in the female students. T-test indicated that the difference between the mean attendance of the two groups of the students (male, female) was statistically significant (t = 2.483, p <  0.05). On the other hand, the difference between the mean academic performance for the two groups of students, male & female, (t = 0.284, p = 0.777) was not statistically significant. Conclusions Our study showed a significant relationship between undergraduate medical students’ attendance during their surgical clerkship and their academic performance. Further studies are needed to stratify this correlation according to clinical and theoretical teaching activities. No significant difference was observed in academic performance between female and male students.
