An information system (IS), an important model in the field of artificial intelligence, takes information structure as the basic structure. A fuzzy probabilistic information system (FPIS) is the combination of some fuzzy relations in the same universe that satisfy probability distribution. A FPIS as an IS with fuzzy relations includes three types of uncertainties (i.e., roughness, fuzziness and probability). This paper studies information structures in a FPIS from the perspective of granular computing (GrC). Firstly, two types of information structures in a FPIS are defined by set vectors. Then, equality, dependence and independence between information structures in a FPIS are proposed, and they are depicted by means of the inclusion degree. Next, information distance between information structures in a FPIS is presented. Finally, entropy measurement for a FPIS is investigated based on the proposed information structures. These results may be helpful for understanding the nature of structures and uncertainty in a FPIS.

An information system (IS) is an important mathematical tool for artificial intelligence. A fuzzy probabilistic information system (FPIS), the combination of some fuzzy relations in the same universe which satisfies the probability distribution, can be seen as an IS with fuzzy relations. A FPIS overcomes the shortcoming that rough set theory assumes elements in the universe with equal probability and leads to lose some useful information. This paper integrates the probability distribution into the fuzzy relations in a FPIS and studies its reduction. Firstly, the concept of a FPIS is introduced and its reduction is proposed. Then, the fuzzy relations in a FPIS are divided into three categories (P-necessary, P-relatively necessary and P-unnecessary fuzzy relations) according to their importance. Next, entropy measurement for a FPIS is investigated. Moreover, some reduction algorithms are constructed. Finally, an example is given to verify the effectiveness of these proposed algorithms.

This chapter presents the model of a wide health information system, designed in accordance with information science theories and requirements. The model, based on modern ICT solutions, reflects the idea of information processes (collection, indexing, transfer) as seen in an information science perspective. It concentrates on optimal answering information needs of different categories of patrons, including adaptation of information-retrieval tools to their competencies. The author discusses different types of information indispensable in healthcare practice, analyzes methods of knowledge representation in health information system, proposes methodology of surveying information needs of health professionals, and describes challenges of linguistic tools used in information systems. The author hopes that such a model will emphasis the need of cooperation among ICT, health, and information professionals in designing information structures and processes.

Abstract A four-hybrid information system (4HIS) is an information system (IS) where the dataset of object descriptions consists of categorical, boolean, real-valued and missing data or attributes. This paper studies measures of uncertainty for a 4HIS and its application in attribute reduction. The distance function for each type of attribute in a 4HIS is first provided. Then, this distance is used to produce the tolerance relation induced by a given subsystem in a 4HIS. Next, information structure of this subsystem is proposed in terms of a set vector and dependence between information structures is introduced. Moreover, granulation and entropy measures in a 4HIS are investigated on the basis of information structures. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed measures, effectiveness analysis is performed from a statistical perspective. Finally, an application of the proposed measures for attribute reduction in a 4HIS is given.

In the modern sense, the concept of information warfare includes the use and management of information and communication technologies to achieve a competitive advantage compared to the opponent. An information warfare is a manipulation with information that trusts a goal without an objective understanding, so that the goal is to take decisions against its own interests in the interests of the opponents. Information structures are considered as systems that produce and process various types of information, provide the storage of information and access to users. Such information structures may include neural networks, adaptive learning systems, etc. They must be prepared to train, respond to threats and ensure the safety of their existence, which is very topical during modern information warfare. This analytical article will cover more theoretical aspects related to the security of information systems from the system theory point of view. Knowledge base of the information structure can be a neural network, in which training should be provided from external threats. The author considers artificial neural networks as one of the potential threats in the context of information warfare.

This paper studies information structures in a fuzzy β-covering information system. We introduce the concepts of a fuzzy β-covering information system and homomorphism between them, and investigate related properties. The concept of information structure of a fuzzy β-covering information system is given. We discuss the relationships between information structures from the view of dependence and separation. Then granularity measures for a fuzzy β-covering information system are studied. Finally, we discuss invariance of fuzzy β-covering information systems under homomorphism and illustrate its application on data compression.

The article discusses ways to obtain information about risk factors and the health status of the population. The article describes a new information system «labor Medicine», which allows to organize the collection of a wide range of data for further analysis and application in the activities of various Executive authorities, public organizations, foundations, legal entities and citizens. It is proposed to improve this system by expanding the types of information collected, creating a passport for health promotion organizations, as well as integration with systems that are being implemented in the Russian Federation for managing the health of the working-age population in the context of state policy in the field of Informatization.
