A forecast of coke quality takes a special place in the coke production, since it enables to increase efficiency of management of batching process of various by composition and properties coals and production of coke of stably high and required quality with minimal costs. Description of a methodological approach to processing of passive industrial experiment data of blends coking at Coke production department of JSC EVRAZ NTMK presented by application selective (general) matrix. The matrix accounts various multilevel values of influence factor CSR and CRI of coke - a complex index of coking ability of blends K.п.к.Vo. It was shown that the proposed approach provides wide variations of response function (CSR/CRI) at symmetrical enough matrix, excluding predominance of any particular area of values of indices K.п.к.Vo and CSR/CRI. By applying the passive industrial experiment, based on processing of actual report data of industrial blends coking at the coke batteries No. 5-6 (wet quenching) and No. 9-10 (dry quenching) by selective matrix, mathematical models of forecast of quality of industrial coke by wet and dry quenching (CSR/CRI) were elaborated depending on coal charges properties (K.п.к.Vo) at the existing modes of their preparation and coking at the coke batteries No. 5-6 and 9-10. Verification of accuracy of the mathematical models of coke quality forecast at wet and dry quenching (CSR/CRI) processing a large actual material of industrial coking (62 coking operations in the coke batteries No. 5-6 and 58 coking operations in the coke batteries No. 9-10 showed accuracy good enough for practical application of forecasting indices CSR and CRI of industrial coke of wet and dry quenching.

The present paper is a report on the construction of nomograms to ascertain the domain of elastic-inertial-damping characteristics required in vibrating machine-foundation systems, in order to ensure that ergonomic and other technical constraints are complied with. Nomograms, which are the graphic representation of mathematical models in nondimensional form, prove to be an effective instrument for orientation in the design stage.

Games happen to be a part of our contemporary culture and way of life. Often mathematical models of conflict and cooperation between intelligent rational decision-makers are studied in these games. Example is the African board game ’Zaminamina draft’ which is often guided by combinatorial strategies and techniques for winning. In this paper we deduce an intelligent mathematical technique for playing a winning game. Two different starting strategies were formulated; center starting and edge or vertex starting. The results were distorted into a 3x3 matrix and elementary row operations were performed to establish all possible wins. MatLab was used to distort the matrix to determine the diagonal wins. A program was written using python in artificial intelligence (AI) to help in playing optimally

Coke is an indispensable and vital flue for blast furnace smelting, during which it plays a key role as a reducing agent, heat source, and support skeleton. Models of prediction of coke quality based on ANN are established to map the functional relationship between quality parameters Mt, Ad, Vdaf, St,d, and caking property (X, Y, and G) of mixed coal and quality parameters Ad, St,d, coke reactivity index (CRI), and coke strength after reaction (CSR) of coke. A regularized network training method based on Sigmoid function is designed considering that redundancy of network structure may lead to the learning of undesired noise, in which weights having little impact on performance and leading to overfitting are removed in terms of computational complexity and training errors. The cascade forward neural network with validation is found to be the most suitable one for coke quality prediction, with errors around 5%, followed by feedforward neural network structure and radial basis neural networks. The cascade forward neural network may play a guiding role during the coke production.

The paper represents the mathematical model for diagnostics of supercapacitors. The research objectives are the problem of determining a supercapacitor technical condition during its operation. The general reliability of diagnostics is described as the methodological and instrumental reliabilities of diagnostics. The instrumental diagnostic reliability of supercapacitor includes the probabilities of errors of the first and second kind, α and β respectively. The methodological approach to increasing the reliability of supercapacitor diagnostic has been proposed, in terms of multi-parameter supercapacitor diagnostic by applying nonlinear, frequency dependent mathematical models of supercapacitors that take into account nonlinearity, frequency dispersion of parameters and the effect of transient processes in supercapacitors. The more frequencies, operating voltages and currents are applied in the supercapacitor diagnostics, the more methodological reliability of diagnostics will increase in relation to the methodological reliability of supercapacitor diagnostics when only one frequency, voltage and current are applied.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to represent replacement policies (rules) in the form of a matrix. Visualization of replacement rules is useful for maintenance records. Matrix representation is more effective than the verbal description usually provided, as it allows better understanding of the specifics of the different replacement rules without careful research of their mathematical models. Design/methodology/approach – This approach employs mathematical models to investigate the simple conditions (requirements) for replacement of system component with illustrative examples. When comparing the different replacement rules a cost structure is applied to takes into account the nature and technology of disassembly assembly actions for the repair unit. Findings – Representation of replacement rules in the matrix form is useful when describing planned replacement models, opportunity replacement models, group replacement models and others, as well as computer modeling of the renewal process. Forming simple conditions for the replacement of system components ensures the total average repair cost is minimized. These conditions can be applied in the early stages of creating a maintenance program for the machine. Practical implications – Replacement matrices can be specified in a technical manual for maintenance of machines to achieve reliable operation and to reduce repair costs. Replacement matrices can be put into practical use for maintenance records and may be included in the maintenance procedures library of CMMSs. Developed in the paper, the replacement matrix, the conditions for replacement of system components and the cost structure will help engineers to make decisions at the time of repair for assembly units. Originality/value – Proposed in the paper is a new approach to the visualization of the replacement rules and cost structure which simplifies the analysis of options for repair actions. The proposed technique contributes to the record of maintenance actions and the decision making process for replacement.

Purpose of the research. The article aims to develop methodological approaches to determining the integrated state and margin of economic security with regard to its provision. Methodology. The following general scientific theoretical methods are used in the study: generalization, explanation, grouping – to analyse economists’ and practitioners’ views on the object under study and draw conclusions upon analysis of primary sources; analysis and synthesis – to justify a new differentiated-integrated approach to economic security assessment; the matrix approach – to integrate the level of economic security and its temporal state and determine the margin of economic security. Results. The article presents methodological approaches developed to determine the integrated state of economic security of an enterprise. It is proposed to understand the integrated state of economic security as its value at a specific date of assessment determined considering the achieved level and temporal state of economic security at a given moment. The article presents a matrix approach to determining the current economic security and proposes an additional indicator of expediency of security provision measures based on the time criterion. The proposed methodological approach to determining the margin of economic security of the enterprise with regard to its provision is based on qualitative and quantitative approaches to its assessment. The approach involves comparison of the value of the level of economic security provision with the integrated state of security resulted from corresponding measures. Practical meaning. The use of the indicator of the margin of economic security with regard to its provision in practical activities of enterprises enables their management to consider beyond-control factors and on this basis make decisions on strengthening (acceleration) or, on the contrary, weakening and economy of implemented measures and programmes aimed to enhance economic security. Prospects for further research. Further research by the author is devoted to development of a methodology for determining the integrated state of medium-term and strategic economic security and, accordingly, identifying the margin of economic security that may occur when these types of economic security are provided.

Predictive mathematical models have been proposed in alkali-silica reaction (ASR). Predicting concrete degradation and its effects on mechanical properties is of interest given the long time until degradation becomes critical for intervention and recovery, and difficult structural access for predictive and corrective monitoring and treatment. The present paper presents a general overview of the evolution of the aforementioned predictive mathematical models, interrelating them to the maturation of the phenomenological state of the art associated with ASR.  For this purpose, a systematic literature review was used, followed by bibliometric analysis and meta-analysis. In this study, 104 articles from 1974 to 2020 were selected, of which 31 articles were reviewed on the topic of mathematical modeling of ASR. The results of the method indicated the importance of the methodological approach of literature review to provide a comprehensive and chronological view of the evolution of ASR consolidated in the literature. It was found that the mathematical models have evolved considering the phenomenological approach of ASR.
