scholarly journals Creative Self-Efficacy, Innovative Work Behaviour and Job Performance Among Selected Manufacturing Employees

Organizations worldwide strive to achieve superior organizational performance through innovativeness. Consequently, job performance and innovative work behaviour are the pillars of organizational performance. Although the empirical evidence on the effect of creative self-efficacy (SCE) on innovative work behaviour (IWB) and job performance (JP) is consistent, there is lack of study on the direct relationship between IWB and JP. Therefore, this study explores the effect of creative self-efficacy (CSE) on innovative work behaviour (IWB) and job performance (JP) and the relationship between IWB and JP. This study used multilevel data where CSE and IWB were self-assessed by 186 employees while their respective JPs were assessed by their immediate superiors. Partial Least Square SEM was used to assess the measurement models and the path analysis. CSE is found to be a significant predictor of both IWB and JP while there is no significant relationship between IWB and JP. This finding has significant managerial implication in the context of human resource management. Integrated HR strategies are required to ensure that both JP and IWB could work in tandem by improving employees’ creative self-efficacy.

PurposeThe study aims to examine the relationship between innovative work behaviour (IWB) and JP amongst physicians in Iraq public hospitals. The study also determines the effects of creative self-efficacy (CSE) and humble leadership (HL) on IWB. Besides, the study investigates the mediating role of IWB on the relationship between CSE and JP as well as between HL and JP.Design/methodology/approachA total of 332 respondents participated in the survey, although 173 responses were utilised after data screening. The study employs the structural equation modelling via partial least squares (PLS-SEM) to ascertain the relationship between the variables.FindingsEvidence from the study indicates that IWB has a positive relationship with JP, whilst CSE and HL are significant determinants of IWB amongst physicians in Iraq public hospitals. The study provides evidence that IWB plays a positive mediating role in the relationship between CSE and JP as well as between HL and JP amongst physicians in Iraq public hospitals.Originality/valueThe study implies that the JP of physicians in Iraq public hospitals can be enhanced by IWB, whilst the latter can be improved by CSE and HL. The influences of CSE and HL on JP can be boosted by IWB. Hence, efforts to promote IWB should be vigorously pursued by Iraq public hospitals to foster the physicians' JP.

Purpose In the context of team's influence on its members, this paper aims to investigate the effects of team-member exchange (TMX) on members' innovative work behaviour (IWB). The current study presents a moderated mediation model and examines the mechanisms and conditions involved in TMX-IWB relationship. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research methodology was adopted where 156 engineering and management students (grouped into 33 teams) were given a task in the form of an assignment to be completed in three weeks’ timeframe. Post task, perceptions about TMX and IWB of members were captured using a questionnaire and the innovative output of each team was assessed using multi-rater technique. Findings Psychological empowerment fully mediates TMX’s effect on team member's IWB. Furthermore, the results indicate that creative self-efficacy moderates the mediated path from TMX to IWB via psychological empowerment. The mediating effect of psychological empowerment is stronger when creative self-efficacy of a team member is higher. Furthermore, the relation between group-level innovative behaviour and the team's innovative output has been established. Originality/value The current research has contributed to the limited literature on team performance and management. This paper has uniquely investigated psychological empowerment in the context of TMX and IWB. The paper has encapsulated the theoretical and practical underpinnings of the mediated effect of psychological empowerment on team members' innovation-oriented behaviour.

Nowadays, companies are operating in a changing world and competitive market. PT. XYZ realizes that innovation is the key for company to be able to remain competitive. Creating an innovative environment within the company requires both leaders’ role and employees’ involvement. Leaders should have a role to empower employees to be innovative in the workplace. Employees with innovative work behavior will drive their individual job performance, thus improving organization performance. The aim of this study is to examine the role of PT. XYZ’s leaders in stimulating innovative work behavior of their employees. This study applied seven leader behaviors of J. P. J. De Jong & Hartog (2007) that have direct impact in stimulating innovative work behavior of employee. A paper based questionnaire was used to collect the data about employee perception about their leaders’ roles, innovative work behavior and job performance. Based on Slovin formula sampling technique, there were 299 respondents from 815 employees’ population taken for this study. Partial Least Square Method is used to find the significant level between multiple dependent variables and multiple independent variables. The result of this study found that Consulting (T-statistics=2.815, p-value=0.003), Providing Resources (T-statistics=2.510, p-value= 0.006) and Task Assignment (T-statistics=3.250, p-value=0.001) have significant effect on employee innovative work behavior. Although Delegating, Supporting for innovation, Recognizing, and Monitoring from the leaders have no significant effect on innovative work behavior, the organization might provide effect to these four behaviors. The result also shows that employee innovative work behaviors have significant effect on Job Performance (T-statistics=2.503, p-value=0.006).

The influx of new workers is starting to be dominated by the millennial generation. This shift provides a demographic advantage for Indonesia as millennial generations are generally aware of the technology. However, to maximize this advantage, the millennial knowledge workers need to have innovative work behavior. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of knowledge sharing mediated by creative self-efficacy on innovative work behavior among millennial knowledge workers in Surabaya, Indonesia. This research was conducted with a quantitative approach using a questionnaire-based survey involving 145 respondents who were millennial knowledge workers in Surabaya, based on the knowledge worker groups, they were 56 employees, 44 independents, and 45 business operators. This research was analyzed using explanatory research using partial least square. The finding showed that among millennial knowledge workers in Surabaya, knowledge sharing significantly influenced innovative work behavior, meanwhile, creative self-efficacy partially mediated the influence between knowledge sharing and innovative work behavior. However, further examination based on the knowledge worker category showed that creative self-efficacy did not have a mediating effect on the business operator group.
