Harumanis demands delicate handling and farmers must know how to use safe pesticides. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine factors influencing the use of safe pesticide among Harumanis farmers in Mata Ayer, Perlis. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was used to underpin this study. This study suggests that attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, knowledge and moral norm as the variables that influence the use of safe pesticides. Data were collected from 97 registered Harumanis farmers under Department of Agriculture (DOA) Malaysia through questionnaires. SmartPLS was used to test the hypotheses in this study. The results showed that attitude, moral norm and knowledge had positive effects on the intention to use safe pesticides. Moreover, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control exhibited insignificant effect on the dependent variable. The results provide helpful information to the stakeholders in the Harumanis industry, from which they could develop and improve appropriate strategies and provide essential assistance to the Harumanis farmers.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced people worldwide to implement a series of preventive hygiene and distancing measures that have significantly altered their way of life. This study examined an adapted version of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) on adopting preventive behavior against COVID-19. Data was collected using a web survey completed by 1004 college students a few weeks after the first wave of infections in Chile. Our findings show that the subjective norm was the strongest predictor of adopting preventive behaviors, followed by the knowledge level and perceived behavioral control. Contrary to expectations, we found no evidence that an attitude towards preventive action predicted actual adoption of preventive behavior against COVID-19. However, knowledge and social norms play a significant role. We discuss implications for effective risk communication.

A large number of muslim population in Indonesia have an impact on the development of muslim fashion in Indonesia and led to the emergence of muslim communities such as Hijabers Surabaya community. Hijabers Surabaya community also linked himself with sharia, such as cooperation with the islamic banking in which all community members will get free sharia account when joining the community.This research focuses on the behavior and attitude of community members towards the use of sharia account by using the theory of planned behavior perspective. This study used Structural Equation Model. Total participants in this study amounted to 150 members. The results obtained in this study is: (1) Behavior belief affect the attitude toward behavior. (2) Normative belief not effect the subjective norm. (3) Motivation to comply not effect the subjective norm. (4) Control belief affect the perceived behavioral control. (5) Attitude toward behavior affect the intention to use. (6) Subjective norm not affect the intention to use. (7) Perceived behavioral control not affect to the intention to use.

Recently, the awareness of energy conservation, carbon emission reduction, and environmental protection in Taiwan has begun to gradually improve, and bicycles have become an important vehicle for residents. In 2009, Kaohsiung began promoting public bicycle sharing. The number of users in that year amounted to 140,000. By 2015, the accumulated number of users reached nine million. This study adopted the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explore the factors influencing the behavioral intentions of public bicycle users, including the three dimensions of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, and probed into the relationship between the factors influencing the behavioral intentions of public bicycle users in Kaohsiung City and the dimensions. This study used a questionnaire to collect data and SPSS & AMOS for statistical analysis. The empirical results demonstrated that the most prominent factors influencing the behavioral intentions of public bicycle users in Kaohsiung City included perceived behavioral control, attitude, and subjective norm, in order. Among the influencing factors in the three dimensions, personal interests, main groups, and self-competence had a positive and significant correlation. Administrators should provide more incentives related to the three influencing factors to encourage the public in Kaohsiung City to use public bicycles more frequently as their short-distance travel mode, so as to achieve the purposes of saving energy, reducing carbon emissions, and protecting the urban environment.

This study analyzes the influence of three variables in the theory of planned behavior (TPB) along with the moral norm variable to predict pro-environmental behavior, specifically the use of eco-friendly reusable bags. The sample population in this study was 280 people who were aware of the existence of eco-friendly reusable bags and understood its use. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of hypothesis testing showed a positive influence of moral norm, attitude, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to use eco-friendly reusable bags. However, the influence of subjective norms on the intention to use eco-friendly reusable bags was found to be negative. This is a pioneering research in the use of the expanded TPB model with the moral norm variable to predict the use of eco-friendly reusable bags, a behavior that is rarely studied. As is well-known, the TPB has been widely used in explaining pro-environmental behavior; however, studies that include the moral norm variable are scarce. The results of the study suggest that decision-makers and retailers need to design social advertisements that can encourage consumers to use eco-friendly reusable bags that would minimize the use of plastic bags.

Purpose To gain strategic insights for promoting sustainable food services, especially in a business and industry (B&I) setting, the purpose of this paper is to investigate decisional factors affecting consumers’ patronage intention based on the extended theory of planned behavior (TPB) including two additional constructs of perceived quality and personal moral norm. Design/methodology/approach An online survey was employed. Out of 978 responses, 548 (70 percent) responses which reported to have visited B&I food services more than five times a month on an average were analyzed by using structural equation modeling. Findings The study results revealed that consumers’ patronage intention toward sustainable B&I food services was well explained by the alternative extended TPB adding a new path from subjective norm to perceived behavioral control. The impact of personal moral norm on consumers’ patronage intention was the highest followed by subjective norm, attitude, and perceived behavioral control. Originality/value This study is one of the few attempts to clarify the underlying motives for patronizing sustainable food services. The study results may give insights into the mechanisms of consumers’ patronage intention formation toward sustainable B&I food services and provide useful implications for strategic measures to promote sustainable B&I food services in Korea as well as other countries sharing similar concerns and interests.

This study aimed to prove attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, perception of the business owners SMEs sector about competence of the accountant external, size of business, and competitive industries has positive effect on the intention to use the services from external accountants. Respondents in this study were 67 business owners in SMEs sector in Bengkulu city. The method of collecting data in this study using a survey by questionnaires to the respondents either directly. The data was analyzed by using SmartPLS 3.0. The result show that attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, external accountant to be competent, size of business, and competitive industries has positive effect on intention to use the services from external accountants.

PurposeThis research aims to test the effects of attitude, perceived behavioral control (PBC), subjective norm and perceived quality of official coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) websites on intention to use official COVID-19 websites.Design/methodology/approachThis study collected data using an online questionnaire. It involved 120 Indonesians who used official COVID-19 websites. The data were analyzed using the multiple regression analysis.FindingsThis research found that intention to use official COVID-19 websites is significantly and positively affected by the quality of the website, attitude and subjective norm. PBC does not influence intention to use official COVID-19 websites.Research limitations/implicationsThis research was only conducted in the context of Indonesians. Furthermore, a convenience sampling technique was applied. Future research should be done in a different context with larger samples to test the generalization of this research's findings.Practical implicationsTo improve intention to use official COVID-19 websites, people must be directed to have a positive attitude toward the website. The developer must ensure the quality of the website. It is also essential to involve leaders and public figures whose opinions might be able to sway citizens to use official COVID-19 websites consistently.Originality/valueThis research is the first one of its kind that studied citizens' intention to use official COVID-19 websites.
