Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) is a relatively new meta-heuristic algorithm that adopts its metaphor from the proliferation role of flowers in plants. Having only one parameter control (i.e. the switch probability, pa) to choose from the global search (i.e. exploration) and local search (i.e. exploitation) is the main strength of FPA as compared to other meta-heuristic algorithms. However, FPA still suffers from variability of its performance as there is no one size that fits all values for pa, depending on the characteristics of the optimisation function. This paper proposed flower pollination algorithm metropolis-hastings (FPA-MH) based on the adoption of Metropolis-Hastings criteria adopted from the Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm to enable dynamic selection of the pa probability. Adopting the problem of t-way test suite generation as the case study and with the comparative evaluation with the original FPA, FPA-MH gave promising results owing to its dynamic and adaptive selection of search operators based on the need of the current search.

Cloud computing allows users to use resources pay per use model by the help of internet. Users are able to do computation dynamically from different location by using internet resources. The major challenging task in cloud computing is efficient selection of resources for the tasks submitted by users. A number of heuristics and meta-heuristics algorithms are designed by different researchers. The most critical phase is the selection of appropriate resource and its management. The selection of resource include to identify list of authenticated available resources in the cloud for job submission and to choose the best resource. The best resource selection is done by the analysis of several factors like expected time to execute a task by user, access restriction to resources, and expected cost to use resources. In this paper, cloud architecture for resource selection is proposed which combines these factors and make the effective resource selection. In this paper a modified flower pollination algorithm is proposed to migrate the task on efficient virtual machine. The selection of the efficient virtual machine is calculated by the fitness function. By calculating the fitness function, the modified FPA algorithm is used to take the decision regarding VM migration is required to improve the resource efficiency or not. In this paper Virtual machine mapper maps the task as per knowledge base i.e. past history of the virtual machine, task type whether computational or communicational based. The results are compared with the existing meta-heuristic algorithms.

The main objective in the selection of personnel is to select the most appropriate candidate for a job. Personnel selection for human resources management is a very important issue. The aim of this paper is to determine the best-performing personnel for promotion using an application of a Multi Criteria Decision Making(MCDM) method, generalized Choquet integral, to a real personnel selection problem of a case study in Turkey and 17 alternatives are ranked according to personnel selection criteria (22 subcriteria are classified under 5 main criteria). The main contribution of this paper is to determine the interdependency among main criteria and subcriteria, the nonlinear relationship among them and the environmental uncertainties while selecting personnel alternatives using the generalized Choquet integral method with the experts’ view. To the authors’ knowledge, this will be the first study which uses the generalized Choquet Integral methodology for human resources.

University course timetable problem (UCTP) is one of the problems on which many researches have been conducted over the years because of its importance in academic institutions. A nature-inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithm, Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) has been adapted, so-called Adapted FPA (AFPA), to cope with UCTP in the previous work. However, AFPA suffers from the stagnation problem because of the non-diversity in the population. To improve the diversity of the population, this work introduces new Hybrid FPA with two variants: JFPA provided the Jaccard index to determine similarities among categorical data and the greedy selection mechanism to improve the selection of the random solution, and DFPA applied the navigational characteristics of the Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) to help in the neighborhood relationship. The results in this study indicate that the proposed algorithms have better exploration ability and fast convergence rate in comparison; JFPA outperforms AFPA in 3 out of 4 datasets for both small and large datasets, and DFPA outperforms AFPA and GA in all datasets while it outperforms PSO in 3 out of 4 small datasets and 2 complex large datasets.

Increased political participation of the village community after the reformation, marked by increasing interest in the community to run for village head elections and village decision-making. Increasing village community participation certainly has hope that the neutrality of bureaucracy is maintained at the village level. So that the climate of political contestation at the village level runs ideally in accordance with the values of democratic life. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of bureaucracy politicization in winning candidate village head Aditya Dimas in Pilkades simultaneously December 26, 2016. Then, knowing the factors that cause political behavior are not neutral village officials and forms of violations in contestation Pilkades Sitimerto December 26 2016. This research using qualitative research methods with a case study approach. The selection of qualitative methods with a case study approach was carried out because there were distinctive characteristics in the election of the head of the Sitimerto village in Kediri Regency. The results of this study show, firstly, that the practice of neutrality in village bureaucracy in the Sitimerto village case is not proven, that the village apparatus is not neutral in the village head election. Second, the factors that motivate village officials to be non-neutral in the case of the Sitimerto village head election are the widespread use of money politics as an attraction for material benefits to the village apparatus and political dinasty of incumbent. Third, a number of forms of violations of neutrality that occurred in the case of the election of the Sitimerto village head were proven that the village officials acted as cadres of the incumbent candidates and participated in distributing money politics to the villagers. Keywords: Kekuasaan, Demokrasi,Netralitas Birokrasi, dan Pilkades

This research proposed a tuning method of power system stabilizer (PSS) using an intelligent method based on flower pollination algorithm (FPA) on Pajalesang generator located in Soppeng district. The observed result is the deviation response of velocity and rotor angle in case of disturbance. The case study used as the disturbance to this generator system is a load addition of 0.05 pu. The results show that velocity deviation response without PSS is 0.01152 pu to -0.0248 pu, using PSS trial is 0.007014 pu to -0.02174 pu, using PSS bat algorithm is 0.003972 pu to -0.01865 pu, and using the proposed method of PSS flower algorithm is 0.002149 pu to -0.01678 pu. The rotor angle response shows better results with reduced oscillation and rapidly leading to the steady-state condition. The performance of Pajalesang diesel power plant increased with the installation of FPA PSS, with parameters respectively Kpss=8.5956, T1= 0.0247, T2=0.2484, T3=0.4776, and T4=0.8827.

This article proposes, a reading of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey (1818) as a case study for discussing infectious literature, storytelling as therapy and the interconnectedness of Gothic methodologies and medical humanities. Northanger Abbey was written in a period when women’s reading habits was a contested topic, so I will provide a quick historical overview of the period and the problematic Gothic novel, which Northanger Abbey satirizes. Where previous research has focused on Catherine Morland, the protagonist and ‘misreader’ in this Gothic satire, this article will focus on Austen’s feminized hero, Henry Tilney, and read him in the role of a mesmeric healer. His goal is to cure Catherine of her obsession with Gothic novels, in order for her to fulfil the feminine ideal of the time. The mesmeric method is to produce a crisis in the patient, however, I will show how Henry’s plan fails and he inadvertently produces a crisis in himself, and forces him to realize the extent of his own ‘reading illness’. He is ‘infected’ by the masculine literary canon, which in his mind entails literary superiority over Catherine and his sister Eleanor. Storytelling as therapy is a term that connects literature and trauma into a method of organizing experience. My analysis will focus on a selection of dialogue between the main characters and Henry’s monologues, to highlight where Austen’s hero is compelled to take narrative control as a way to control his own trauma; his troubled relationship with his father and the death of his mother.

In the process of supplier selection for green supply chain management, uncertain information may appear in alternatives’ performances or experts’ preferences. The stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA) is a beneficial technique to tackling the uncertain information in such a problem and the MULTIMOORA is a robust technique to aggregate alternatives’ utilities. This study dedicates to proposing an SMAA-MULTIMOORA method by considering the advantages of both methods. The integrated method can accept uncertain information as inputs. The steps of the SMAA-MULTIMOORA are illustrated. A case study about the selection of green suppliers is given to show the validity and robustness of the SMAA-MULTIMOORA method.
