Objectives: Evaluate of the heated air jet temperature (T) in the pulp chamber on cavity 5 depths and photoactivation stages for a bulk fill resin restorative protocol is evaluated. Methods: Class I cavity preparations were conducted at different depths (n = 8) through two protocols for adhesive volatilization (23 °C and 40 °C) and cavities were restored with the Filtek Bulk Fill resin. The pulp chamber temperature variation was evaluated at four steps (times) during the restorative protocol: I (initial), V (after volatilization), A (after photoactivation of the adhesive), and C (after photoactivation of the composite resin). To verify the assumptions of the normality of the errors and homoscedasticity, the Shapiro Wilk and Levene tests were conducted. Subsequently, two-way and three-way analysis of variance was carried out, followed by Tukey's post-hoc analysis (α = 0.05). Results: The maximum T at the different restorative steps, regardless of the volatilization protocol and cavity depth, was as follows: I (36.8 °C) = V (36.9 ºC) < A (37.2 °C) = R (37.8 ºC) (p <0.05). During V, a small greater variation was observed in pulp chamber temperature when dentin was volatilized at 40 °C (p <0.05) at very deep cavity depths (0.31 °C). The largest temperature variations (p <0.05) were observed during A (0.17–0.59 °C) and R (0.50–1.06 °C), reaching peak temperatures in the cavities.

SUMMARY Introduction The extension of fiber post cementation often does not seem to influence the fracture resistance of restorations. This study evaluated the effects of cementation depths on the retention of fiber posts submitted to artificial aging. Methods One hundred and sixty bovine incisors were selected to assess post retention. Following endodontic treatment, the canals were flared with diamonds burs. Postholes were prepared in lengths of 5 or 10 mm, after which fiber posts were relined with composite resin and luted with RelyX ARC or RelyX Unicem. The samples were then submitted to thermal and/or mechanical cycling before testing their pullout bond strengths. Absence of cycling was used as a control. The results of each cement were submitted to two-way and post hoc Tukey tests (α=0.05). Results Independent of the aging protocol, a depth of 10 mm showed higher pullout bond strength than did 5 mm, except for RelyX Unicem without cycling. For RelyX ARC, thermomechanical cycling resulted in lower values than in the absence of cycling. Mechanical cycling alone promoted the highest bond strength when the posts were luted with RelyX Unicem. Conclusion The effect of artificial aging on the pullout bond strength is dependent on the type of material and the depth.

Abstract University students were screened using items from the Psychopathic Personality Inventory and divided into high (n = 13) and low (n = 11) Psychopathic Personality Trait (PPT) groups. The P300 component of the event-related potential (ERP) was recorded as each group completed a two-block autobiographical oddball task, responding honestly during the first (Phone) block, in which oddball items were participants' home phone numbers, and then feigning amnesia in response to approximately 50% of items in the second (Birthday) block in which oddball items were participants' birthdates. Bootstrapping of peak-to-peak amplitudes correctly identified 100% of low PPT and 92% of high PPT participants as having intact recognition. Both groups demonstrated malingering-related P300 amplitude reduction. For the first time, P300 amplitude and topography differences were observed between honest and deceptive responses to Birthday items. No main between-group P300 effects resulted. Post-hoc analysis revealed between-group differences in a frontally located post-P300 component. Honest responses were associated with late frontal amplitudes larger than deceptive responses at frontal sites in the low PPT group only.
