Triarylboranes have drawn much attention in OLEDs owing to their remarkable solid-state luminescence properties. Here two new A-D-A type compounds, 2,7-bis(dimesitylboryl)-N-ethyl-carbazole (BCz) using triarylborane as electron acceptor and carbazole as electron donor while 2,7-bis((4-(dimesitylboryl)phenyl)ethynyl)-9-ethyl-carbazole (BPACz) using phenylacetylene as extra conjugated bridge, have been synthesized and their photoluminescence related properties in various states have been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Both compounds show blue emission with high quantum yields, being potential candidates for blue OLED materials.

[μ-N,N′-Bis(pyridin-3-yl)benzene-1,4-dicarboxamide-<!?show [forcelb]><!?tlsb=0.12pt>1:2κ2N:N′]bis{[N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-yl)benzene-1,4-dicarboxamide-κN]diiodidomercury(II)}, [Hg2I4(C18H14N4O2)3], is an S-shaped dinuclear molecule, composed of two HgI2units and threeN,N′-bis(pyridin-3-yl)benzene-1,4-dicarboxamide (L) ligands. The centralLligand is centrosymmetric and coordinated to two HgIIcationsviatwo pyridine N atoms, in asyn–synconformation. The two terminalLligands are monodentate, with one uncoordinated pyridine N atom, and each adopts asyn–anticonformation. The HgI2units show highly distorted tetrahedral (sawhorse) geometry, as the HgIIcentres lie only 0.34 (2) or 0.32 (2) Å from the planes defined by the I and pyridine N atoms. Supramolecular interactions, thermal stability and solid-state luminescence properties were also measured.


RE3+(RE3+ = Ce3+, Dy3+, Eu3+ and Tb3+) doped La2O2S phosphors was synthesized by solid state flux fusion method and their down conversion spectral properties were studied as a function different RE3+ concentrations and reported in this paper. The solid state flux fusion results in well crystallized hexagonal shaped phosphor particles. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR photoluminescence (PL) and CIE colour co-ordinates techniques. The lanthanum oxysulphide (La2O2S) phosphor doped with Ce3+ shows broad band emission with peak at 390 nm and 415 nm when excited at 340 nm excitation. La2O2S:Dy3+ shows efficient blue and yellow band emissions at 480 nm and 572 nm. La2O2S:Eu3+ phosphor shows an orange and red emission at 590 nm and 615 nm. Whereas La2O2S:Tb3+ phosphor shows weak blue emission at 488 nm and strong green 545 nm. The excitation spectra used for the La2O2S:RE3+ (where RE3+ = Ce3+, Dy3+, Eu3+ and Tb3+) phosphors is in the near UV region extending from 350 to 400 nm, which is characteristics of near UV excited LED. The effect of the RE3+ (RE3+= Ce3+, Dy3+ , Eu3+ and Tb3+) concentration on the luminescence properties of La2O2S:RE3+ phosphors were also studied. The investigated prepared La2O2S phosphors may be suitable for a near UV excited W-LED. Keywords: Oxysulphide, SEM, FT-IR, PL, SSL, CIE.

We report a highly fluorescent difluoroboron β-diketonate derivative 1 which shows four emission colors (green, yellow, orange and red) with high quantum yields (41–74%) in four polymorphs and one amorphous state.

Isomorphous <i>β</i>-triketonate-based lanthanoid polymers containing tris(4-methylbenzoyl)methane (<b>mtbm</b>) and RbOH with formula, {[Ln(Rb)(<b>mtbm</b>)<sub>4</sub>]<sub>2</sub>}<i><sub>n </sub></i>(Ln = Eu<sup>3+ </sup>and Nd<sup>3+</sup>) have been synthesised and structurally characterised. The photophysical properties for the Nd<sup>3+</sup> complex presented long lifetimes and relatively high quantum yields in comparison with analogous <i><u>β</u></i>-diketonate complexes. Mixed lanthanoid complexes were also formed and their luminescence properties studied, with effective sensitisation of the <sup>4</sup>F<sub>3/2 </sub>of<sub> </sub> Nd<sup>3+ </sup>via the <sup>5</sup>D<sub>0 </sub>of Eu<sup>3+</sup>, which is to the best of our knowledge the first example of Eu<sup>3+</sup> to Nd<sup>3+</sup> sensitisation in coordination polymers <br>

An efficient protocol for the synthesis of 3-aryl-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyridines has been developed via Cu-catalysed direct C–H (hetero)arylation. The resulting compounds exhibit deep-blue emission with high quantum yields, photostability, and thermal stability.

K1La5−xEuxO5(VO4)2 compounds were prepared by a solid state synthesis route. Their luminescence properties were studied. The non-substituted sample that exhibits blue emission under UV excitation switched to orange/red as soon as a small amount of europium is inserted in the phosphor.

Cr[Formula: see text]-doped zinc gallate (ZnGa2O4) near-infrared (NIR) phosphors were synthesized via a high temperature solid state method. The luminescence properties of the phosphors were studied systematically. A significant spectra overlap between the emission of ZnGa2O4 and the absorption of Cr[Formula: see text] was observed and 300 nm excitation exhibited the most excellent long-lasting luminescence properties among the three main excitation bands. Luminescence intensity was changed with the ratio of Ga[Formula: see text]/Cr[Formula: see text] and the blue host emission of ZnGa2O4 was suppressed when doping Cr[Formula: see text] into ZnGa2O4. The fluorescence decay curves of blue emission of ZnGa2O4 with different Cr[Formula: see text] doping concentrations indicated that the lifetime of ZnGa2O4 at 505 nm become shorter with the increase of the Cr[Formula: see text] concentration. Herein, a possible mechanism of long-lasting luminescence in ZnGa2O4: Cr[Formula: see text] was proposed that the NIR long-lasting luminescence in ZnGa2O4: Cr[Formula: see text] comes from the persistent energy transfer from ZnGa2O4 to Cr[Formula: see text].

4,5-Bis(diarylamino)phthalimides in powder form and dispersed in a thin film of poly(methyl methacrylate) fluoresce in the green-to-orange and blue-to-green region, respectively, with high quantum yields.
