This study examines the impacts of the online brand community (OBC) climate on customer interaction and customer inspiration, which are yet under-explored in the extant literature. The data were collected online from the Chinese respondents (N = 504) to analyze the proposed constructs of the study. Findings show that supportive OBC climate and controlled OBC climate are positively related to customer interaction (including information interaction and social interaction) and exert a significant and positive impact on customer inspiration. A mediating impact of customer interaction is found on the relationship between OBC climate and customer inspiration. This study unravels the importance and mechanism of customer-brand relationships in the online environment and illuminates pathways for marketers and policymakers to positively influence customer inspiration for business promotion. This study updates existing literature boxes of consumer behavior and marketing in the context of online customer-brand relationships. Limitations and future research directions are noted.

The present study examined corporate entrepreneurship (CE) influence upon business performance following the mediation of employee engagement. In all, 201 middle managers from big 5 banks in Pakistan were sampled for the present study. Through applying structural equation modeling to test statistical relationship, the results revealed significant positive relationship between CE and business performance. Accordingly, the results also indicated mediation of employee engagement in this relationship thus, supporting both the hypothesized relationships. The study is first of its kind, addressing critical gap concerning employee engagement in the domain of CE and business performance. The study presents critical explanations and potential implications through which CE prospects could help employees to feel obliged to respond back with higher engagement and business performance. Toward the end, the chapter also discusses future research directions and scope for further study.

This study aims to explore the significance of job embeddedness (JE) theory and practices to reducing employee turnover and then suggest future research directions. It also reviews the systematic development of JE theory and its relationship with different workplace theories. A comprehensive content analysis, including a systematic review of articles published between 2008 and 2018, is conducted to understand the extensive role of JE in the workplace. A total of 108 research papers published in various high-ranking journals are selected for further analysis. To identify the mediating role of JE in the service and manufacturing industry, most of the existing studies focus on turnover intention, organizational commitment, employee engagement, and job satisfaction. However, many other key areas, which can be linked to JE to understand and evaluate the theory of organizational and employee behavior, are ignored in the literature. In this study, a further understanding of JE is suggested to be expanded in accordance with various elements of organization and employee theories, such as job design, job burnout, and role performance. This study contributes to the literature by further expanding JE theory and proposing a comprehensive JE framework that researchers and practitioners can adopt in future research.

The current study examined the role of support for creativity in determining creativity with the mediating role of epistemic curiosity and moderating role of trust in leadership. Data were collected from 321 employees working in telecom sector of Pakistan situated in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sialkot and Lahore. Regression analysis suggested that support for creativity is positively associated with creativity and epistemic curiosity, whereas, there is a positive relationship between epistemic curiosity and creativity. Epistemic curiosity further mediates the relationship between support for creativity and creativity of employees, while trust in leadership moderates the relationship between Support for creativity and creativity of employees. Results are discussed in the light of existing environment in the private sector organizations of Pakistan. The paper concludes by discussing study limitations and future research directions.

Recent trends in the leadership literature have promoted a social identity approach of leadership that views leadership as the process of representing, advancing, creating, and embedding a sense of shared identity within a group. However, a few empirical studies explore how and when global identity leadership affects team performance at the workplace. To address this lacuna, we used multi-source and two-wave data among 81 teams to explore the role of group-based pride and leader political skill in the association between identity leadership and team performance. The results suggest that identity leadership positively predicts team performance through a mediating role of group-based pride. Furthermore, leader political skill moderates the indirect effect of group-based pride such that the effect is stronger when leader political skill is high rather than low. Finally, several theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed, and future research directions are also suggested.

This study adds to the research of business ethics by exploring how organizational hypocrisy affects abusive supervision positively, through the mediating role of cynicism of supervisors and when supervisor resilience can temper down abusive supervision. This is the first study to use frustration aggression theory to explain the studied mechanism and further contributes to the literature of theory by proposing that frustration may lead to broadening of scope of cognitive processes thereby developing new positive goals. Using a quantitative design multisource data were collected in three waves through survey method. Results of the data analysis confirmed the entire hypotheses of the study in proposed directions. This study highlights a dangerous pathway that may generate vicious cycles of negativity and undermine long term viability of organizations but at the same time gives a unique solution to organizations to decrease the effects of hypocritical policies. The study can have far reaching organizational and social implications. Organizations can benefit from this research by reviewing their management philosophies and HR practitioners can focus on developing pools of resilient employees to make organizations and society green. At the end limitations of the study are discussed and future research directions are suggested

Fitness-related self-conscious emotions (SCEs) have been proposed as antecedents of exercise addiction (EA). However, the potential mechanisms underlying such a relationship remain unexplored. The present study examined the relationship between fitness-related SCEs and risk of EA, as well as the mediating role of passion for exercise. A total of 296 male runners (M = 40.35 years, SD = 10.69) completed a survey assessing weekly exercise frequency/hours, fitness-related SCEs, passion for exercise, and the risk of EA. The relationships between the study variables were examined using structural equation modeling. After controlling for age and weekly exercise frequency/hours, fitness-related SCEs of shame, guilt, and hubristic pride were positively associated with risk of EA. However, while guilt had direct effects on risk of EA, shame and hubristic pride showed indirect effects via obsessive passion. The results of the study are discussed, and some practical implications and future research directions are presented.

Prior research has established that having a low future orientation is associated with offending. Additionally, it has been found that being exposed to adverse childhood events such as physical abuse may lower one’s future orientation and increase one’s offending likelihood. One gap in this line of research concerns the potential mediating role of future orientation on the relationship between trauma and offending. The current study fills this gap in the literature using a sample of adjudicated delinquents from a large southern state. The results from the study partially support the hypotheses; while future orientation lowers the likelihood of offending and trauma exposure increases offending likelihood, future orientation does not appear to mediate the relationship between trauma exposure and crime. Limitations and future research directions are discussed.

From the perspective of individual resource and social capital, this paper aims to explain how employees’ political skill affect their job satisfaction and turnover intention, through the mediating role of popularity. Using a sample of 237 dyad surveys from supervisors and employees in the Yangtze River Delta of China, we found that: 1) political skill is positively correlated with job satisfaction and negatively correlated with turnover intention, and that these correlations are partially mediated by individual popularity; 2) positive affect (PA) moderates the relationship between political skill and job satisfaction, and negative affect (NA) moderates the relationship between political skill and turnover intention. The implications of our findings and future research directions are discussed.

The objective of this study was to examine the impact of envy on interpersonal conflict, through the mechanism of schadenfreude and the moderating effect of work ethics, among nurses in Pakistan. Convenient sampling technique was used in order to draw the sample. Data were collected from 200 employed nurses who had been working at different levels in Pakistani hospitals. Regression analysis was run in order to test the hypotheses. Study findings suggested that Envy is positively associated with interpersonal conflict, while schadenfreude partially mediates this relationship. In addition, work ethics moderates the association such that it weakens the positive relationship between schadenfreude and interpersonal conflict. The paper concludes by discussing the limitations as well as future research directions.

The frequently discussed topic of job satisfaction is not new in the field of organizational behavior research. Job satisfaction is related to customer satisfaction; however, there is a scarcity of empirical evidence regarding this link. The current piece of research examines the said relationship in the context of the online call center. In addition, this study investigates the effect of human resources (HR) practices on job satisfaction within the online call center context. The sample of the study consists of 275 employees who were working as an online call center. SMARTPLS 3 was used to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicated a positive relationship between HR practices with job satisfaction. Furthermore, a positive impact of job satisfaction on customer satisfaction is observed. The mediation of customer interaction quality is also found to be significant in the relationship between job satisfaction and customer satisfaction.
