The introduction of modern methods for the mathematical processing of geological data is one of the promising areas of study and development in the field of geosciences. For example, today mathematical geology makes it possible to reliably identify astronomical cycles by measuring the scalar magnetic parameters of rocks (magnetic susceptibility). The main aim of this study is to develop a mathematical tool for identifying stable oscillation cycles (periods) in the dataset of the magnetic susceptibility of rocks in a geological section. The author’s method (algorithm) is based on the concept of discrete mathematical analysis—an innovative mathematical approach to the analysis of discrete geological and geophysical data. Its reliability is also demonstrated, by comparison with the results obtained by classical methods: Fourier analysis, Lomb periodogram, and REDFIT. The proposed algorithm was applied by the authors to analyze the material of field geological studies of the Zhelezny Rog section (Taman Peninsula). As a result, stable cycles were determined for the Pontian and Lower Maeotian sedimentary strata of the Black Sea Basin (Paratethys).

<p>With the goal to provide the new magnetostratigraphic investigations of the Miocene marine deposits of the Black Sea Basin the forty-four oriented hand blocks of the Cop-Takyl section (45°N, 36°E, Kerch peninsula, Crimea) were collected during summer 2019 field work. The section is composed mainly of clays, has a total thickness of ~ 53 m and covered the Tarhanian stratigraphic interval. Standard paleomagnetic measurements have been performed to establish a new magnetostratigraphic record for the Cop-Takyl section. The composition of the ferromagnetic fraction was examined using dependences of magnetic susceptibility on temperature and saturation magnetic moment on temperature. These thermo magnetic analyzes showed that the low concentration of magnetite is the main carrier of the natural remanent magnetization NRM. Coercivity of remanence Bcr values, determined from backfield demagnetization measurements, range between ~34 and 91 mT. The structure of the magnetite grains is mainly pseudo-single domain. In order to determine true NRM directions, we studied the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility. The rock sample possesses a planar anisotropy, which is a characteristic of the normal sedimentary rocks. The alternating field demagnetization of the samples (three duplicates from each level) was used for obtaining NRM vector angle elements. Demagnetization results were analyzed using orthogonal plots and stereographic projections. Polarity components were isolated in most samples between 15-60 mT. The values of the declination D and inclination I of the NRM satisfactory agree for all three duplicates from each level. This allows to average angle elements and construct curves of I and D variations over the thickness of the section. New paleomagnetic data of the Cop-Takyl section will used for assessing the effect of astronomical cyclicity on sedimentation processes. This article describes the use of the stochastic approach, in particular, mass service theory and the development of its methods, adapted directly to the coagulation process as a mathematical tool. The coagulation process will be concerned as a) supplying water to the mixer, b) processing it with reagents (coagulants), c) settling for the mathematical analysis of water clarification effectiveness.

Music plays a prominent role in society and companies have even started studying its aspects for commercial purposes. It is only natural to ask what characteristics make certain songs appealing. While much research has been conducted on the mathematical principles of sound, there has been less focus on analyzing the structure of popular songs from a mathematical perspective. One mathematical tool that researchers have used to study musical structure is seriation, ordering. This paper applies several types of seriation algorithms to conduct a mathematical analysis of the structural qualities of several musical pieces. This paper focuses on 10 popular artists and their musical influences. The artists chosen for this research are linked because of the influences they cite, musical genre, and the popularity of their music. Results show that an artist’s songs have a higher quantitatively measured connection with the artists they cite as influences rather than the artists who they never mention as musical influences.

Abstract The author examines the question of the place name Trapezus recorded by ancient sources as being located north of the Black Sea. This toponym indicates a mountain which bears no relation to the Pontic city of Trapezus. According to the written sources only, this place name cannot be identified. On the contrary, as suggested by archaeological evidence and the testimony of Procopius about the Goths Trapezitae, the predominant opinion of Chatÿr Dag appears to provide the most satisfactory solution for the identification of Mount Trapezus. This mountain was never known as Hermonassa and is not related to the Taman peninsula.

For centuries, the Crimea and the Taman Peninsula have represented for many peoples the unity of Europe and Asia. This is where the introduction of the peoples of Eastern Europe to Christianity began. This is where in the VIII-IX centuries a sharp confrontation between the Christian Goths and the Khazars-Jews took place. All the processes are reflected in monuments of architecture and archeology, objects of historical and cultural heritage.

A study of the Upper Miocene deposits on the Taman Peninsula revealed a new centric diatom Thalassiosira kozyrenkoae Kovaleva et Gogorev. The absence of findings of this species in the modern diatom flora suggests that it is extinct. The species was likely endemic for the Sea of Azov – the Black Sea basin. Single findings of valve fragments in the New Azov layers make it possible to use T. kozyrenkoae as a stratigraphic marker and to estimate the distribution extent of the Neogene sediments from the outcrops. This study will contribute to the more precise identification of the origin of the redeposited fossil diatoms in the Quaternary sediments from the Sea of Azov.
