We study the stability of a unique weak solution to certain parabolic systems with nonstandard growth condition, which are additionally dependent on a cross-diffusion term. More precisely, we show that two unique weak solutions of the considered system with different initial values are controlled by their initial values.

A parabolic equation with nonstandard growth condition is considered. A kind of weak solution and a kind of strong solution are introduced, respectively; the existence of solutions is proved by a parabolically regularized method. The stability of weak solutions is based on a natural partial boundary value condition. Two novelty elements of the paper are both the dependence of diffusion coefficient bx,t on the time variable t, and the partial boundary value condition based on a submanifold of ∂Ω×0,T. How to overcome the difficulties arising from the nonstandard growth conditions is another technological novelty of this paper.

AbstractWe study the existence of weak solutions to a Newtonian fluid∼non-Newtonian fluid mixed-type equation $$ {u_{t}}= \operatorname{div} \bigl(b(x,t){ \bigl\vert {\nabla A(u)} \bigr\vert ^{p(x) - 2}}\nabla A(u)+\alpha (x,t)\nabla A(u) \bigr)+f(u,x,t). $$ u t = div ( b ( x , t ) | ∇ A ( u ) | p ( x ) − 2 ∇ A ( u ) + α ( x , t ) ∇ A ( u ) ) + f ( u , x , t ) . We assume that $A'(s)=a(s)\geq 0$ A ′ ( s ) = a ( s ) ≥ 0 , $A(s)$ A ( s ) is a strictly increasing function, $A(0)=0$ A ( 0 ) = 0 , $b(x,t)\geq 0$ b ( x , t ) ≥ 0 , and $\alpha (x,t)\geq 0$ α ( x , t ) ≥ 0 . If $$ b(x,t)=\alpha (x,t)=0,\quad (x,t)\in \partial \Omega \times [0,T], $$ b ( x , t ) = α ( x , t ) = 0 , ( x , t ) ∈ ∂ Ω × [ 0 , T ] , then we prove the stability of weak solutions without the boundary value condition.

This study focuses on the spatial-temporal dynamics of predator–prey model with cross-diffusion where the intake rate of prey is per capita predator according to ratio-dependent functional response and the prey is harvested through nonlinear harvesting strategy. The permanence analysis and local stability analysis of the proposed model without cross-diffusion are analyzed. We derive the conditions for the appearance of diffusion-driven instability and global stability of the considered model. Also the parameter space for Turing region is specified by keeping the cross-diffusion coefficient as one of the crucial parameters. Numerical simulations are given to justify the proposed theoretical results and to show that the cross-diffusion term plays a significant role in the pattern formation.

AbstractWe consider systems of parabolic equations coupled in zero and first order terms. We establish Lipschitz estimates in {L^{q}}-norms, {2\leq q\leq\infty}, for the source in terms of the solution in a subdomain. The main tool is a family of appropriate Carleman estimates with general weights, in Lebesgue spaces, for nonhomogeneous parabolic systems.

We consider a general class of one-dimensional parabolic systems, mainly coupled in the diffusion term, which, in fact, can be of the degenerate type. We derive some new L1-gradient type estimates for its solutions which are uniform in the sense that they do not depend on the coefficients nor on the size of the spatial domain. We also give some applications of such estimates to gas dynamics, filtration problems, a p-Laplacian parabolic type equation and some first order systems of Hamilton–Jacobi or conservation laws type.
