<abstract><p>It is the objective to provide a mathematical treatment of a model to predict the behaviour of an invasive specie proliferating in a domain, but with a certain hostile zone. The behaviour of the invasive is modelled in the frame of a non-linear diffusion (of Porous Medium type) equation with non-Lipschitz and heterogeneous reaction. First of all, the paper examines the existence and uniqueness of solutions together with a comparison principle. Once the regularity principles are shown, the solutions are studied within the Travelling Waves (TW) domain together with stability analysis in the frame of the Geometric Perturbation Theory (GPT). As a remarkable finding, the obtained TW profile follows a potential law in the stable connection that converges to the stationary solution. Such potential law suggests that the pressure induced by the invasive over the hostile area increases over time. Nonetheless, the finite speed, induced by the non-linear diffusion, slows down a possible violent invasion.</p></abstract>

Abstract The use of optimum concentration of BAP and the right medium type can support shoot induction on the explant of banana sucker cv.Barangan Merah. The Research was conducted at the Laboratory of Tissue Culture, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Syiah Kuala. This research used a completely randomized 3x3 factorial design. The first factor was Benzyl Amino Purines (BAP) concentration at three levels of concentration, i.e. control, 3 mg.L-1, and 6 mg.L-1. The second factor was Musrahige & Skoog (MS) medium type at three levels, i.e. solid, solid-liquid, and liquid. Results showed that the BAP treatment of 3 mg.L-1 had the biggest response to the number of open midribs compared to other BAP treatments. The type of solid medium tends to shoot induction better than other types of medium. The contamination that occurred was 13.9% of the 72 explants planted. The contamination was caused by Mucor and Aspergillus fungi. The bacteria causing the contamination were gram positive bacteria (coccus) and gram-negative bacteria (coccus and bacilli).

Mechanical models of tumor growth based on a porous medium approach have been attracting a lot of interest both analytically and numerically. In this paper, we study the stability properties of a finite difference scheme for a model where the density evolves down pressure gradients and the growth rate depends on the pressure and possibly nutrients. Based on the stability results, we prove the scheme to be asymptotic preserving (AP) in the incompressible limit. Numerical simulations are performed in order to investigate the regularity of the pressure. We study the sharpness of the $L^4$-uniform bound of the gradient, the limiting case being a solution whose support contains a bubble which closes-up in finite time generating a singularity, the so-called focusing solution.

Aesthetic judgments dominate much of daily life by guiding how we evaluate objects, people, and experiences in our environment. One key question that remains unanswered is the extent to which more specialised or largely general cognitive resources support aesthetic judgments. To investigate this question in the context of executive resources, we examined the extent to which a central working memory load produces similar or different reaction time interference on aesthetic compared to non-aesthetic judgments. Across three pre-registered experiments that used Bayesian multi-level modelling approaches (N&gt;100 per experiment), we found clear evidence that a central working memory load produces similar reaction time interference on aesthetic judgments relative to non-aesthetic (motion) judgments. We also showed that this similarity in processing across aesthetic versus non-aesthetic judgments holds across variations in the form of art (people vs landscape; Exps. 1-3), medium type (artwork vs photographs; Exp. 2) and load content (art images vs letters; Exps. 1-3). These findings suggest that across a range of experimental contexts, as well as different processing streams in working memory (e.g., visual vs verbal), aesthetic and motion judgments commonly rely on a domain-general executive system, rather than a system that is more specifically tied to aesthetic judgments. In doing so, these findings shine new light on the cognitive architecture that supports aesthetic judgments, as well as how domain-general executive systems operate more generally in cognition.

Paphiopedilum is an ornamental orchid used mainly for interior decoration. As the division of plants is uneconomical, a fast method of propagation is needed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of medium type (MS or VW), growth regulators, i.e. BA, KIN, TDZ used separately or in combinations and natural additives, i.e. coconut water, banana pulp, casein hydrolysate, on Paphiopedilum insigne plantlets grown in vitro. It was found out that BA in concentration of 0.5 mg·dm–3 allowed to obtain the highest multiplication rate (2.92), however the use of KIN in concentration of 1 mg·dm–3 resulted in formation of bigger and higher quality plantlets, It is possible to replace cytokinins with other biologically active substance, such as banana pulp. The 1/2 MS medium might be used for Paphiopedilum insigne tissue culture, as there was no difference in terms of multiplication rate and the obtained plantlets were of better quality, especially that it is cheaper and easier to prepare.

The mathematical theory behind the porous medium type equation is well developed and produces many applications to the real world. The research and development of the fractional nonlinear porous medium models also progressed significantly in recent years. An efficient numerical method to solve porous medium models needs to be investigated so that the symmetry of the designed method can be extended to future fractional porous medium models. This paper contributes a new numerical method called Newton-Modified Weighted Arithmetic Mean (Newton-MOWAM). The solution of the porous medium type equation is approximated by using a finite difference method. Then, the Newton method is applied as a linearization approach to solving the system of nonlinear equations. As the system to be solved is large, high computational complexity is regulated by the MOWAM iterative method. Newton-MOWAM is formulated technically based on the matrix structure of the system. Some initial-boundary value problems with a different type of nonlinear diffusion term are presented. As a result, the Newton-MOWAM showed a significant improvement in the computation efficiency compared to the developed standard Weighted Arithmetic Mean iterative method. The analysis of efficiency, measured by the reduced number of iterations and computation time, is reported along with the convergence analysis.

This study aimed to determine the effect of the method of giving rations during the day and night on the physiological response (respiratory rate, rectal temperature, and heart rate) of medium type roosters in postal cages and to determine the effect of the best day and night ration methods on physiological response of medium type rooster in postal cage. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of three treatments with six replications, those were P1: 30% day and 70% night ration; P2: 50% day and 50% night ration; P3: 70% day and 30% night ration. The chicken used was male Lohman strain medium type of 144 chickens. The resulting data were analyzed with variance at 5% level. The results showed that the influence of day and night administration method was not different (P > 0.05) on the frequency of breath (51.73 to 55.27 Times/min), rectal temperature (41.13 to 41.16oC), and heart rate frequency (421.2 to 434.7 times/minute).   A study was conducted on twenty five genotypes of seedling Mangoes to examine fruit morphological characters. Fruit shape of the evaluated germplasm varied enormously and fruits of obovoid, elliptic, round and oblong shapes were found. Fruit apex shape in the evaluated plants was round, acute and obtuse. Depth of fruit stalk cavity was either absent, shallow and of medium type, whereas, fruit neck prominence was absent to slightly prominent in the tested plants. Shape of fruit ventral shoulder was varied and found to be slopping abruptly, rising and then rounded and long curve type in the evaluated germplasm. Fruit beak varies from pointed to perceptible type and fruit sinus was absent to shallow type in the fruits from different plants. Fruit attractiveness varies from very good to excellent and fruit colour from greenish yellow to green colour of fruit skin at maturity was noted in fruits from selected trees. Peel colour of AA-15 was different amongst all the genotypes which were green with red blush. Pulp colour varied from light orange, yellow orange, orange yellow, yellow and light yellow, whereas, pulp texture was soft to intermediate in the evaluated germplasm.
