In this study, novel photocatalysts MVO4/g-C3N4 (M = La, Gd) were prepared by the hydrothermal method, through which different loading amounts of 10–50%MVO4 and g-C3N4 were mixed and ultrasonically oscillated to gain heterojunction catalysts. All the samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, XPS, Us-vis, and PL to ensure the successful integration of LaVO4 and GdVO4 with g-C3N4. The obtained results showed that MVO4/g-C3N4 could effectually improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers during the photodegradation process, thus improving the photodegradation efficiency, while among them, 40%GdVO4/g-C3N4 showed the best photocatalytic performance and degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride, reaching up to 91% for 3 h, which was 3.64 times higher than pristine g-C3N4. From the discussed results above, the possible mechanism of the photodegradation process was put forward. This study supplies a promising method to gain g-C3N4-based photocatalysts for antibiotics removal.

Bi2WO6 doped with iodine ions were synthesized using hydrothermal method and their photocatalytic activities to degrade Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light was investigated. The successful incorporation of I ions in Bi2WO6 was proved by XRD and XPS. UV-vis absorption spectra results show that I ion was successfully doped into Bi2WO6 and a red shift for I-doped Bi2WO6 appeared when compared to pure Bi2WO6. The photocatalytic activities of the photocatalysts were evaluated by the decolorization of RhB under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity of I-doped Bi2WO6 was much higher than the undoped Bi2WO6.

AbstractMonoclinic BiVO4 photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method under appropriate temperature. The photocatalytic performance of BiVO4 was improved by calcining at appropriate temperature. The structural and morphological properties of the synthesized BiVO4 photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. It is confirmed that the photocatalytic activity of the prepared catalysts was evaluated by the photodegradation of RhB under visible-light irradiation. BiVO4 calcined under appropriate temperature exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than uncalcined BiVO4 under visible light irradiation because calcination might effectively increases the purity of monoclinic bismuth vanadate.

In this study, novel photocatalysts LaAOx/g-C3N4 (A = V, Fe, Co) were prepared by the hydrothermal method, through which LaAOx and g-C3N4 were mixed and ultrasonically oscillated to gain heterojunction catalysts. All the samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, XPS, DRS, and PL to ensure the successful integration of LaAOx with g-C3N4. The obtained results showed that LaAOx/g-C3N4 (A = V, Fe, Co) could effectually improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers during the photodegradation process, thus improving the photodegradation efficiency, while among them, LaFeO3/g-C3N4 showed the best photocatalytic performance and degradation of norfloxacin under visible light, reaching up to 95% in 180 min, which was 9.32 times higher than pristine g-C3N4. From the discussed results above, the possible mechanism of the photodegradation process was put forward. This study supplies a promising method to gain g-C3N4-based photocatalysts for antibiotics removal.

CdS/Ag2S/g-C3N4 ternary composites showed excellent photocatalytic performance toward H2 evolution. Their improved photocatalytic activity could be attributed not only to the synergic effect, but also to the introduction of Ag2S.

Pureα-Bi2O3with nanoneedle array structure was synthesized directly by hydrothermal method. The optic absorption of theα-Bi2O3paricles was cut off at ~483 nm and the band gap of theα-Bi2O3was estimated to be 2.57 eV. The photocatalytic activity of theα-Bi2O3samples was higher than TiO2under a visible light irradiation. As a conclusion, relative narrow band gap ofα-Bi2O3nanoneedle array compared to anatase and the special morphology of nanoneedle array structures may improve the photocatalytic activity in visible light irradiation.

Ag-loaded Bi2WO6nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by XRD, UV-vis DRS, SEM and BET. The results indicated that it was the orthorhombic phase of Bi2WO6and showed a markedly blue-shift Compared with pure Bi2WO6. Ag/Bi2WO6photocatalysts exhibited obviously enhanced photocatalysis than pure Bi2WO6in degrading phenol-containingwastewater under visible light irradiation. The influence of the content of silver on the photocatalyticactivity of Bi2WO6has been investigated. The resultsrevealed that the significant enhancement of photocatalytic activity can beattributed to the synergetic effects between noble metal and semiconductor component.
