This work reports synthesis of ten novel derivatives of 5-(1-(substituted phenyl)-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-4-methylthiazole 5(a–o). The reaction of benzil, primary aryl amines, 4-methylthiazole-5-carbaldehyde and ammonium acetate was carried out in one pot in the presence of eco-friendly catalyst Ceric ammonium nitrate in solvent ethanol to give final compounds. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral characterization such as IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and mass spectral studies.

Synthesis of an assembly of structurally importantN-H- andN-substituted acridine-1,8-diones by CAN (ceric ammonium nitrate) catalysed one-pot four-component reaction of electron-deficient and electron-rich aromatic aldehydes and aromatic amines or ammonium acetate and dimedone or cyclohexyl-1,3-diones at 26°C under sonic condition is reported. The method is clean and energy efficient as it uses a greener method and an eco-friendly catalyst.

A series of 8 derivatives of chromene 5a-h synthesized via one-pot cyclocondensation reaction of N-allyl quinolones, α/β naphthol and malononitrile. And 8 derivatives of pyrimidines 8a-h bearing N-allyl quinolone have been synthesized by N-allyl quinolones, ethylacetoacetate, thiourea/urea in the presence of zinc triflate as less toxic catalyst. This methodology allowed the high conversion of product at room temperature. Titled derivatives were elucidated by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis, and mass spectral data.

AbstractPolyethylene glycol was found to be an inexpensive non-toxic and effective medium for one pot synthesis of high yields of decahydroacridine-1,8-diones in the presence of ceric ammonium nitrate as the catalyst. Moreover, the solvent can be recovered and reused.

AbstractA series of new ruthenium(II) complexes were synthesized with Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde / o-hydroxyacetophenone/ o-vanillin / 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with thiosemicarbazide and acetyl furan. They are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, electronic, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral studies. The elemental analysis suggests the stoichiometry to be 1:1 (metal:ligand). Four of these complexes were tested for its binding with CT-DNA using absorption spectroscopic studies and two of these complexes exhibit efficient DNA cleavage activity.

Reaction of VO(OPri)3 with two equivalents of N-phenyldiethanolamine (PhDEAH2) yields a homometallic complex [VO(PhDEA)(PhDEAH)] 1, which reacts with a number of metal alkoxides to afford heterobimetallic oxovanadium(V) complexes of the types [VO(PhDEA)2{M(OR)n-1}] [where PhDEA = C6H5N(CH2CH2O–)2], [M =: Al (n = 3, R = Pri) 2; Al (n = 3, R = But) 3; Ti (n = 4, R = Pri) 4; Zr (n = 4, R = Pri) 5; Nb (n = 5, R = Pri) 6; Ta (n = 5, R = Pri) 7. The derivative [VO(PhDEA)(OSiPh3)] 8 has been prepared by the equimolar interaction of [VO(PhDEA)(OPri)] with Ph3SiOH. All of these complexes have been characterised by spectroscopic (IR; 1H, 13C, 27Al and 51V NMR) studies, elemental analyses, and molecular weight measurements. The derivative 2 has also been characterised by FAB mass spectral studies, which supports for its monomeric nature.

AbstractA new series of twenty four derivatives of pyrano[3,2-c]chromene IVa-x bearing 1H-pyrazole were synthesized by a one pot, base-catalyzed cyclocondensation reaction of 1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde Ia-l, malononitrile II and 4-hydroxycoumarin IIIa-b. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data. All the synthesized compounds were screened against six bacterial pathogens, namely B. subtilis, C. tetani, S. pneumoniae, S. typhi, V. cholerae, E. coli and for antifungal activity against two fungal pathogens, A. fumigatus and C. albicans using the broth microdilution MIC method. Some of the compounds were found to be equipotent or more potent than commercial drugs against most of employed strains, as evident from the screening data.

Structural modification of the front line antitubercular drug isoniazid provide a lipophilic adaptations of the drug in which hydrazide moiety of isoniazid is replaced by 1,3,4-oxadiazole heterocycles to eliminate in-vivo acetylation by arylamine N-acetyltransferase which results to form inactive acetylated drug. In the present study a series of sixteen oxadiazole derivatives were synthesized and characterized by (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectral) studies. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity by broth dilution method against two Gram positive strains (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus), two Gram negative strains (Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli) and fungal strain (Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger). The minimum inhibitory concentration of the compounds was in the range of 1.56-50 ?g ml-1 against bacterial and fungal strain. The results revealed that all synthesized compounds have a significant biological activity against the tested microorganisms. Among the synthesized derivatives 4g, 4h, 4m and 4p were found to be most effective antimicrobial compounds.
