The ability of a switch-mode AC/DC power supply to shrink supplies is a benefit and a requirement for most electronic devices with limited space. Major failures in switch-mode power supply (SMPS) during adverse working conditions are subject to mostly the switching devices and capacitors. For effective condition monitoring of the SMPS, dual (or multiple) sensing provides a more reliable standpoint against the traditional single sensing techniques as it provides a more comprehensive paradigm for accurate condition monitoring. This study proposes an integrated approach to SMPS condition monitoring by exploiting statistically extracted features from current and voltage signals for system fault diagnosis based on electrical stress. Following a correlation-based feature selection approach, salient features were utilized for improved fault detection and isolation (FDI) using ML-based classifiers. Diagnostic results by the classifiers reveal that the random forest and gradient boosting classifiers are highly reliable but computationally expensive when compared with the others while the decision tree was quite cost-efficient with reliable diagnostic results. The proposed framework is effectively applicable for use in diagnosing the switching devices and classification at different states.

Accuracy and safety of tank guns are dependent a great degree on the condition of its gun bore. Many parameters affect accuracy and safety and have strong and complex interdependencies. While it is extremely difficult to monitor all these parameters during battle conditions, it is also essential to enhance the accuracy of the gun by measuring and compensating these parameters. Among all, bore wear and bore centreline are predominant factors. The surface characteristics of the bore also are indicative of potential accidents/deterioration, which should be monitored continuously. Hence, condition monitoring of tank gun bore characteristics in near real-time is an impending need with huge potential for enhancing the combat effectiveness of tank formations. This paper analyses various bore parameters affecting accuracy and safety and proposes a comprehensive condition monitoring method that uses vision camera, thermal camera and mechanical profiler. This integrated approach provides enhanced accuracy in measuring surface characteristics of tank bore that has been partially validated.

Application of Soft-switching technique and fuzzy control is discussed to optimize traditional induction cooker controller. Soft-switching technique is used to improve output efficiency of induction cooker. Switch voltage regulation by fuzzy control are used to adjust output power of induction cooker. Soft-switching inverter consists of resonant DC link and LC resonant network. Resonant DC link is used to realize ZVS, and resonant network is used to eliminate harmonics. Fuzzy control based on look-up table is adopted to adjust duty cycle of switch mode regulated power supply, which changes the DC supply voltage, so that amplitude of AC signal inverted by induction cooker is changed to adjust output power of induction cooker according to the requirement, , ensuring the operating temperature aligned with the target temperature.
