This paper proposes a compensation method for interpolation error of the maximum power control of a PMSM control system that generates current commands through a look-up table. A torque control system using a look-up table created through experiments has superior characteristics, such as control stability and torque accuracy, compared to a system that executes torque control via a linear controller based on modeling. However, it is impossible to generate information on all the currents for the output torque in the table. Therefore, because the data stored in the look-up table have a discrete characteristic, they are linearly interpolated to generate a current command for the torque command. However, the PMSM current trajectory is generally elliptical, which causes an error owing to linear interpolation, reducing the maximum output power. In particular, when the table data are insufficient, such as in the high-speed operation range, the reduced maximum output cannot be ignored. This paper proposes a compensation method for the interpolation error using two feedforward compensators and a PI controller, which was verified through experiments.

Solar panels are a renewable energy power plant that uses sunlight as its main energy source. The power generated by solar panels are determined by the size of the solar panels, solar radiation and temperature. The power of the solar panels is also determined by the output voltage of the solar panels. To get the maximum output power at any time, it is necessary to adjust the output voltage of the solar panel. This study proposes controlling the maximum output power of solar panels, also known as maximum power point tracking (MPPT) by adjusting the output voltage of the solar panels using a buck converter. The buck converter output voltage regulation at the maximum power point of the solar panel is designed with the Perturbation and Observation (PO) algorithm which is implemented using an Arduino Mega 2560. This MPPT control system is applied to 4x50 Watt-Peak (WP) solar panels which are connected in parallel. The experimental results show that the proposed MPPT control system with the PO algorithm has worked well as expected. This can be seen from the output power generated by the solar panels already around the maximum power point at any change in solar radiation and temperature.

In order to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic generation as well as the power quality, grid-connected inverters for PV generation research was carried out for photovoltaic maximum power point tracking. Based on some current studies on the incremental conductance method, an advanced incremental conductance control algorithm was proposed, which can track maximum power point rapidly and accurately. The oscillation phenomenon, which exists near the maximum power point, was improved at a great extent, so to the efficiency of photovoltaic cells generation electricity. The inverter control system has an advantage in its high speed and flexibility by applying advanced control algorithm. And the source harmonic current is remarkably reduced. In addition, the power factor is enhanced and the power quality is improved. Finally, according to the principle of inverter control system and based on the analysis on the mathematical model of photovoltaic inverter, a simulation model of that is established based on MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Optimizing the output power value of a solar cell requires a tracker. The tracking is called the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) which will produce a maximum output power value. Each component in this system is modeled into Simulink. This simulation is designed to optimize the work of solar cells by searching maximum power points using perturb and observe (P & O) algorithms, then duty cycles are output  of the algorithms become Buck-Boost Converter inputs as switching so they can produce output power with better output  power. Simulation results show that MPPT can increase the average output power on changes in the value of sun irradiation, temperature and load than systems that do not use MPPT. The factor of the average difference in power is 37.82%.

Wide bandgap (WBG) power devices such as silicon carbide (SiC) can viably supply high speed electrical drives, due to their capability to increase efficiency and reduce the size of the power converters. On the other hand, high frequency operation of the SiC devices emphasizes the effect of parasitics, which generates reflected wave transient overvoltage on motor terminals, reducing the life time and the reliability of electric drives. In this paper, a SiC metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) based two level (2L) inverter is systematically studied and compared to the performance of Si insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) based three level (3L) neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter topologies, for high speed AC motor loads, in terms of efficiency, overvoltages, heat sink design, and cost. A fair comparison was introduced for the first time, having the same output voltage capabilities, output current total harmonic distortion (THD), and overvoltages for the three systems. The analysis indicated the convenience of using the SiC MOSFET based 2L inverter for lower output power. In the case of the maximum output power, the heat sink volume was found to be 20% higher for the 2L SiC based inverter when compared to 3L NPC topologies. Simulations were carried out by realistic dynamic models of power switch modules obtained from the manufacturer’s experimental tests and verified both in the LTspice and PLECS simulation packages.
