Florida residents have the second highest incidence of skin cancer in the nation. Sunscreen usage was found to be the one of the most effective integrative health approaches for reducing risk of skin cancer. Given the limited information on the likelihood of adopting and continuing sunscreen usage behavior, this cross-sectional study aimed to examine the correlates of initiating and sustaining sunscreen usage behavior among Florida dwellers, using the fourth-generation, multi-theory model (MTM) of behavior change. A web-based survey containing 51 questions was emailed to Florida residents aged 18 years or above, who were randomly selected from the state voter file. Psychometric validity of the survey instrument was established using structural equation modeling, and Cronbach’s alpha values were calculated for assessing the internal consistency. An independent-samples-t-test and hierarchical multiple regression tests were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that participants who engaged in sunscreen usage behavior, participatory dialogue (β = 0.062, p < 0.05), behavioral confidence (β = 0.636, p < 0.001), and changes in the physical environment (β = 0.210, p < 0.001) were statistically significant and accounted for 73.6% of the variance in initiating sunscreen usage behavior. In addition, the constructs of emotional transformation (β = 0.486, p < 0.001) and practice for change (β = 0.211, p < 0.001), as well as changes in the social environment (β = 0.148, p < 0.001) were significant predictors of maintaining sunscreen usage behavior and contributed to 59% of variance in sustenance. These findings offer a valuable insight regarding the applicability of MTM models to guiding public health interventions promoting sunscreen usage and preventing UV radiation risk and related skin cancer.

Meditation is gaining popularity as adjuvant therapy for many chronic ailments, mental well-being, and spiritual growth. Behavioral theories have been underutilized in understanding meditation behavior. This study aimed to test if a fourth-generation multi-theory model (MTM) could explain the intent for starting and maintaining meditation behavior in a sample of US adults. A face and content valid 48-item instrument based on MTM was administered in a cross-sectional design through an online survey (n = 330). Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha > 0.70) and construct validation using structural equation modeling of the subscales were all acceptable. Hierarchical multiple regression revealed that, after controlling for demographic covariates, the MTM constructs of participatory dialogue (β  =  0.153; P  =  .002) and behavioral confidence (β  =  0.479; P < .001) were statistically significant in predicting intent for starting meditation behavior and accounted for 32.9% of the variance. Furthermore, after controlling for demographic covariates, the MTM constructs of emotional transformation (β  =  0.390; P < .001) and changes in the social environment (β  =  0.395; P < .001) were statistically significant and accounted for 52.9% of the variance in the intent for maintaining meditation behavior. Based on this study, it can be concluded that MTM offers a pragmatic framework to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based (theory-based) meditation behavior change interventions.

The purpose of the current study was to examine the effect of electronic service quality on fan satisfaction and fan loyalty in the online environment. Selection of three hundred and fifty-six fans of a famous sports club was through random sampling using the club's website. AMOS used structural equation modeling for data analysis. Results provided strong support on the effect of electronic service quality (E-S-QUAL) on fan satisfaction and fan loyalty toward the website of their favorable football teams. Business enterprises have well researched e-service quality and loyalty. However, limited research exists in the sports context. This paper provides valuable insight into the measurement of e-service quality and fan loyalty in the sport and offers a foundation for future marketing research.

Large quantities of clothing are routinely discarded, ending up in landfills that contribute to the environmental crisis; hence, it is worthwhile investigating how to dispose of this waste in a sustainable way. This study considered environmental values and prosocial behavior from a behaviorism theory. The aim was to set up an environmental protection model for the sustainable disposal of consumer clothing. A structural equation modeling analysis of 407 undergraduate and postgraduate consumer data in Taiwan revealed that consumers&rsquo; choice to donate clothing was influenced by environmental values and prosocial behaviors. Clothing resale was influenced by the factor of prosocial behavior. However, prosocial consumers used other disposal patterns instead of resale. Clothing reuse was not influenced by either environmental values or prosocial behavior. The results indicated that environmental values and prosocial behavior did in fact influence consumers&rsquo; choices regarding clothing donation. However, prosocial consumers used other disposal patterns instead of resale. Behaviorism theory model is effective in analyzing the factors influencing sustainable clothing disposal. To face clothing waste issues, one can intensify traditional values of industriousness and thriftiness, of compassion and sympathy to others, to accelerate the promotion of the sustainable disposal of clothing.

Initially proposed by Marcoulides and further expanded by Raykov and Marcoulides, a structural equation modeling approach can be used in generalizability theory estimation. This article examines the utility of incorporating auxiliary variables into the structural equation modeling approach when missing data is present. In particular, the authors assert that by adapting a saturated correlates model strategy to structural equation modeling generalizability theory models, one can reduce any biased effects caused by missingness. Traditional approaches such as an analysis of variance do not possess such a feature. This article provides detailed instructions for adding auxiliary variables into a structural equation modeling generalizability theory model, demonstrates the corresponding benefits of bias reduction in generalizability coefficient estimate via simulations, and discusses issues relevant to the proposed approach.

Many important psychophysical questions concern the interaction or combination of different components of a stimulus. Classical psychophysical methods for assessing whether two stimulus aspects are coded independently (eg, masking and summation) provide limited information about the nature of whatever interactions are discovered. In both older work in detection and recent work in complex pattern discrimination, we have used a double-judgment paradigm in which the observer rates two aspects of a stimulus simultaneously. The paradigm provides a rich source of information about the codes underlying each psychophysical decision. It is unique in permitting us to investigate effects resulting from correlations in noise. We review the theoretical, technological, and methodological results that led us to develop this approach. Procedural antecedents lie in theories of dimensional interaction, in signal detection theory, and in information theory. Analytically, we draw on methods from several branches of statistics, including categorical data analysis and structural equation modeling. Also key to our work are advances in computational power: both our experimental procedures and our data analysis would have been difficult or impossible two decades ago.

Purpose of the study: This paper aims to examine the effects of the monitoring mechanism and bonding mechanism of corporate governance on the performance of the bank. The monitoring mechanism is divided into an external mechanism, represented by concentrated ownership, and the internal mechanism is represented by the proportion of independent board. Bonding mechanism is measured issuance of bonds as long-term debt financing. Methodology: This study is predictive and exploratory, so the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling using a WarpPLS60 application. Researchers use data from 24 banks that constantly has the value of bonds circulated, which from 2011 to 2018. There are consists of 4 state-owned commercial banks, 13 private banks, and 7 regional government-owned banks. Main Findings: The researcher found that external monitoring mechanisms as measured by ownership concentration, positively and significantly influence the performance at government-owned banks. Internal monitoring mechanism, as measured by the percentage of the number of independent commissioners, positively and significantly affects the performance at all the banks. The bonding mechanism as measured by issuing bonds negatively and significantly affects the performance of all the banks. Applications of this study: The integrative multi-theory model proposed by the authors in this study is a unique contribution to the intermediary financial literature. Banks seeking to maximize their performance must be balanced with the interests of shareholders and their stakeholders. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study examined the differences in behaviour and the role of monitoring and bonding mechanisms of corporate governance in state-owned banks and private. The results of this study contribute to the theory of entrenchment and financial intermediation.

Specifically, this research considers that consumer values as antecedents of consumers’ attitude toward buying natural and organic shampoo products. A survey was conducted with many respondents from graduate students of Magister Management, Trisakti University, Jakarta, and structural equation modeling techniques was used to test the relationships among the variables. The results show that environmental consciousness and appearance consciousness have a positive effect on attitude. Meanwhile, health consciousness has no significant effect on consumers’ attitude. Moreover, the results showed that TPB predictors which consist of attitude and perceived behavioral control are significantly correlated with purchase intention for natural and organic shampoo products, but not with subjective norm. This research provides valuable insight into consumer purchase intention behavior regarding natural and organic shampoo products by examining the factors that influence consumers’ attitude toward buying natural and organic shampoo products and consumers’ purchase intentions for the products.Keywords: Consumer Behaviour, Theory of Planned Behavior, Attitude, PurchaseIntention, Personal Care

PurposeOne challenge when launching new banking services is to overcome resistance to change so as to accelerate market acceptance. This is the case of Islamic credit card (ICC). In response, this study aims to develop a conceptual framework that combines the innovation diffusion theory (IDT) and the theory of reasoned action (TRA) with religious obligation and customer awareness to explain behavior intention and usage behavior of ICC. Design/methodology/approachTo test the conceptual model, the data are collected from 649 bank customers in Malaysia, and the structural equation modeling technique is used to test the forecasting model. FindingsThe study results support some relationships of IDT and TRA, such as relative advantage, compatibility, trialability, observability, attitude and also the customer awareness as a stronger predictor of intention of ICC. Originality/valueTo the author’s knowledge, there have not been any attempt to develop a conceptual model for identifying the factors that influence the adoption of ICC by integrating IDT and TRA and other added measures. Therefore, this study adds to the body of knowledge regarding ICC adoption studies by extending the IDT in this domain and integrating it with TRA as two well-established models in the area of acceptance and usage behavior studies.

The main purpose of this paper is to examine empirically the influence of social factorson the adoption of e-Procurement in government institutions. The research design used isa survey research. The theoretical model is empirically tested with data collected from 130work units involving 185 respondents from across the local government institutions in CentralJava, Indonesia. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The results showthe influence of social values on the adoption of e-Procurement in government institutions.The study results sugest that volunteering based solidarity affects on usage behavior ofe-Procurement. This attitude is influenced by the social expectations of the individual againstthe social benefits of e-Procurement. Other findings, individuals who have a moderateattitude (compromise and permissive) are likely to have a low intention of the e-Procurement.This paper offers a model of development for the government adoption of e-Procurement ingovernment institutions through a participatory approach. Implementation of e-Procurementrequires the solidarity movement of individuals who voluntarily diffusing technology. Thispaper is a study on the adoption of e-Procurement in the public sector that involves socialfactors as the main determinants of technology in performing of adoption behavior. Thestudy's findings provide insight into the importance of the social benefits and social risk ininfluencing the adoption of e-Procurement.Keywords: E-Procurement; Volunteering; Solidarity; Social Risk; Social Expectancy.
