Sense of belonging constitutes a critical component of college students’ retention and academic achievement, especially in disadvantaged higher education institutions such as private colleges in China. Using nationwide survey data (n = 3816) from Chinese private colleges, this study explores how college satisfaction, sense of achievement, and student happiness contribute to freshmen’ sense of belonging. Structural equation modeling analyses have identified the significant positive associations between freshmen’s emotion regulation and sense of belonging. In particular, emotion regulation plays a mediating role in the relations between college satisfaction, sense of achievement, student happiness, and the sense of belonging. Therefore, private colleges should design and implement orientation programs to improve freshmen’s learning experience, especially college satisfaction and student happiness, to enhance their sense of belonging.

Introduction: The present study aimed to examine a proposed model for the relationship between resilience and emotional reactions to failure, mediated by self-compassion and Emotion Regulation (ER) among martial artists. Materials and Methods: A total of 286 athletes (191 males & 95 females; Mean±SD age: 20.98±3.30 years) from different disciplines of martial arts (taekwondo, karate, Judo, & wushu) engaged in league championship participated in the study. Athletes completed the Sports Mental Toughness Questionnaire (SMTQ), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). The proposed model was evaluated using structural equation modeling. Results: The obtained results revealed that resilience has direct and indirect effects on emotional reactions to failure. Furthermore, self-compassion and maladaptive ER play a partial negative mediating role between resilience and emotional reactions to failure. However, the mediating role of adaptive ER was not significant. Conclusion: The study data predicted negative emotional reactions to failure based on resilience, mediated by self-compassion and ER among martial artists; thus, these data indicate the necessity of paying attention to the development of resilience in martial artists. This method emphasizes self-compassion and the reduction of maladaptive ER for better recovery of failure and reduces its effects.

This paper aims to explore the mediation effect of psychological capital and perceived organizational support on therelationship between authentic leadership and intention to stay. The structural equation modeling technique was usedto test the hypothesized model. A survey was administered to collect data targeting a sample of randomly selectedteachers working at high schools in Tehran. The results suggest that authentic leadership significantly influencesteachers’ intention to stay, psychological capital, perceived organizational support. As predicted, both perceivedorganizational support and psychological capital had a significant positive direct effect on intention to stay. Theeffect of authentic leadership on intention to stay was found to be mediated by teachers’ psychological capital andperceived organizational support. This study shows how leaders can enhance teachers’ intention to stay by applyingauthentic leadership, engendering psychological capital and creating supportive environment.

Purpose - This research paper explores the mediating role of attitude towards the advertisement and attitude towards the brand in the relationships between disparagement as a processing stimulus for humor in advertising and purchase intention of the customer. Design/Methodology/Approach - Data has been collected from 202 individuals. Confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, moderation and mediation analysis have been applied and a good fit between the data and tested model was observed. As predicted, purchase intention was positively related with disparagement and full mediation effect has been found. The results of moderation analysis are quite interesting and have been presented with the help of a chart showing interaction effect. Findings - Findings provide media agencies with an insight into the audience emotional consequences in exposure to disparagement used in advertisements. Findings are particularly salient for national and multinational media agencies in Pakistan as well in the other parts of the world. Originality/Value - This is one of the first studies to provide empirical support for the relationships between disparagement and purchase intention in Western and non-Western (Pakistani) context.

This paper examines how leaders and followers can interact positively under complex and bounded conditions. For this purpose, this paper conceptualizes and measures the concept of constructive dissensus. Constructive dissensus relates to a mutual understanding leading to a situation of coregulation. In addition, the relationship between constructive dissensus and happiness at work is examined on the basis of affective events theory. Furthermore, the mediating role of organizational virtuousness is assessed. Through structural equation modeling, a multilevel analysis was performed. Data from 130 bank branches and 606 employees were gathered. The results reveal a direct effect of constructive dissensus on employees’ happiness at work. Moreover, a partial mediation effect of organizational virtuousness was found in the relationship between constructive dissensus and happiness at work.

Objectives: In this study, we examine the relationship among mindfulness, psychological distress, and self-regulation, to determine whether self-regulation plays a mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness and psychological distress among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods:Participants completed questionnaires including the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the Five-facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), and the Self-regulation Scale (SRS). We used structural equation modeling to analyze the relationships among psychological distress, mindfulness, and self-regulation, with self-regulation as a mediator. Results:We found that psychological distress is negatively associated with both mindfulness (r = -0.687, p < .001) and self-regulation (r = -0.629, p < .001), and mindfulness is positively associated with self-regulation (r = 0.534, p < .001). The model indicates that mindfulness has direct impact on self-regulation (β = 0.570, p < .001) and psychological distress (β = -0.685, p < .001). Self-regulation asserts a certain mediation effect on the relationship between mindfulness and psychological distress. A bootstrap test suggests perceived stress has a mediation effect on mindfulness and psychological distress (95% CI: -0.299, -0.134, p < .001), accounting for 23.6% of total effect. Conclusions: Psychological distress is common in HCC patients. The mediation effect of self-regulation provides a reference for discussing possible correlations between mindfulness and psychological distress.


Banking industry plays a significant role in economic development of a nation through their operational efficiency. This study is an assessment of enhanced skills of employees through job rotation such that their performance, human factor and motivational factor play role on employee performance. A self – administered adopted questionnaire developed by Morgeson & Humphrey, also Marylene Gagne et al., method adopted questionnaire is circulated amongst 402 employees of banks in Vellore district selected applying purposive sampling method. The data is assessed applying mediation technique using structural equation modeling approach. Results indicate that motivation and human factor play mediating role in the performance of employees due to job rotation. This study confirms the importance of job rotation in the performance of employees in banking industry helping employer build better relationship and yield effective results from their employees.

This study aimed to examine whether there is a mediating role of emotion regulation difficulties in the relationship between social anxiety and problematic Internet use (PIU). The sample consisted of 297 participants (147 [49%] males; aged from 18 to 24 years), who were university students studying sport sciences in four universities in Turkey. Data were obtained using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, Internet Addiction Scale, and Scale of Difficulties in Emotional Regulation. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. According to the results obtained, emotion regulation difficulty has a full mediating role in the relationship between social anxiety and PIU. As a result, social anxiety affects emotion regulation difficulties and this effect could increase PIU.

Purpose This paper aims to investigate the relationship between home-to-work spillover, measured as positive and negative home–work interference (HWI) and turnover intentions, as well as the mediating role of perceptions concerning training and development practices. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected among 418 respondents who were working at two business schools. A confirmative structural equation modeling analysis was conducted for the analysis. Findings As expected, positive HWI showed negative relationships with turnover intentions, while negative HWI related positively to turnover intentions. Training and development practices mediated the relationship between positive HWI and turnover intentions; the mediation effect was stronger for women than it was for men. Training and development practices did not mediate the relationship between negative HWI and turnover intentions, however. Practical implications The outcomes suggest that helping employees to balance their work and home lives can be beneficial for employees, as well as for employers in terms of reducing turnover intentions. Originality/value As contributions, additional insight into the relationship between positive and negative non-work factors and turnover intentions by examining the ways in which both positive as well as negative HWI are related to turnover intentions. Furthermore, the research considers the mediating role played by perceptions concerning human resource (HR) practices, and particularly training and development practices as perceived by the employee, in the relationship between positive and negative HWI and turnover intentions.

This study aims to examine whether emotional regulation processes play a mediating role in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and intolerance to uncertainty among university students. The sample consisted of 378 participants aged from 18 to 45 years. Data were obtained using the Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI), Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS), and Emotion Regulation Processes Scale (ERPS). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. According to the results obtained from the research, emotion regulation processes have a partial mediating role in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and intolerance to uncertainty. The bootstrapping process also provided additional evidence that this partial mediation was significant. As a result, low cognitive flexibility negatively affects emotion regulation processes, resulting in low tolerance for uncertain situations.

Emerging tourism destinations repeatedly face many managerial challenges, often leading to common pitfalls and rookie mistakes. The current study aims to analyze relationships between destination attractiveness factors (Destination Amenities, Tourism Infrastructure and Accessibility, Active Family Destination, Hospitality and Services, and Social–Safety–Economic Values), satisfaction, destination image, and revisit intentions to test a mediating role of satisfaction between destination attractiveness factors and both destination image and revisit choices within so-called rookie destinations. For this purpose, a quantitative study was carried out using a questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. Data were collected from a sample of 2030 visitors to Serbia. Structural equation modeling (SEM) in R was applied to analyze the data. The results revealed the positive direct effects of destination attractiveness factors on satisfaction, destination image, and revisit intentions. Moreover, the research confirmed the mediating role of satisfaction in the relationship between destination attractiveness and destination image, and revisit intentions. The results are further discussed from the perspective of emerging tourism destinations to make their management more sustainable for the future and mitigate the repetition of rookie mistakes.
