The springback in the sheet metal forming process refers to the change of shape after the load removal. It is usually undesirable, causing problems in the subsequent forming operations, in the assembly and negatively affects the quality of the final product. Numerical prediction of the springback with the use of the numerical simulation is crucial for the reduction of forming tool try-outs, reducing manufacturing costs and increasing the accuracy of the stamped part. In this work, numerical simulation was used for the springback prediction of the hat-shaped part made of advanced high-strength dual-phase steel HCT600X+Z. These numerical predictions were performed with the use of various combinations of material models to try to improve the prediction results. Furthermore, this work includes the proposed springback reduction measure. The reduction of the springback was achieved by the tool design which includes a counterpunch. The springback analysis was carried out in the side view of the formed part; the springback prediction results were compared with the experimental values.

The paper deals with optimization of forming process for AISI 430 stainless steel with nominal thickness 0.4 mm. During forming of sidewall for washing machine drum, some wrinkles remain at the end of forming process in some places. This problem was solved by optimization the geometry of the drawpiece using numerical simulation. During optimization a series of modifications of the part geometry to absolute elimination of wrinkling was performed. On the basis of mechanical tests, the material model was created and imported into the material database of Autoform simulation software.

Complex components of the sheet metal forming process need to be designed with high precision and accuracy in order to prevent defects and misalignment of the end products. One of the sheet metal cool stamping process for these complex automotive components is burring which is the forming of a flange around a hole made in a piece of sheet metal. Springback is a common defect during the burring process. The aims of this paper are to investigate the springback effect and improve shape accuracy of hole burring by inner burring process of lower arm part for automotive lower arm part. The springback defects at hole burring usually happened on the inner burring process. Experimental stretch flanging for cold stamping process of inner burring process was used to investigate the reasons of springback effect around the burred hole for a lower arm part of high strength steel (HSS) sheets SPFH590. From the two designs of burring punch dies, the result shows the values of springback effect for clearance -0.15 which have a big gap at hole burring A arm and B arm diameters, are larger than clearance -0.34 which have small gap for inner burring process of lower arm part. The experimental analysis shows that springback is proportionally related to the punch-die clearance parameter of the tool profile where the springback increase as the clearance increases.

The low carbon steel has good ductility that is favorable for forming process, but its low strength leads to limiting their application for forced structures. This paper studied improving strength of low-carbon steel via rolling deformation and dual-phase treatment. The results showed that the dual-phase treated steel had a combination of high strength and good ductility; its tensile ultimate strength reached 740 MPa with elongation at fracture of over 15%, while that of the cold-rolled steel only reached 700 MPa with elongation at fracture of under 3%. Based on the obtained results, relationships between mechanical properties and dual-phase processing parameters were established to help users choose suitable-processing parameters according to requirements of products.

In sheet metal forming process, the input process parameters scatter and considerably result in unreliablity in practical production. Optimization for sheet metal forming process is often considered as a multi-objective problem. An optimizition strategy for high strength steel (HSS) sheet metal forming process was suggested based on response surface methodology (RSM). Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) method was introduced to design the rational experimental samples; the objective function was defined based on cracking factor wrinkle factor and severe thinning factor; the accurate response surface for sheet metal forming problem was built by Least Square Method; Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm(MOGA) was adoped in optimization and Pareto solution was selected. The strategy was applied to analyze a HSS auto-part, the result has proved this method suitable for optimization design of HSS sheet metal forming process.

The numerical simulation of hot-stamping process was carried out for UHSS square-cup parts, and the influence of dies temperature on the hot-stamping process was anlysised. Besides, through the microstructure analysis and mechanical properties testing of the formed parts, effects of dies temperature on microstructures and mechanical properties of hot-stamping square-cup parts were obtained. The experiment and simulation results showed that the mechanical properties of the UHSS are strongly dependent on the temperature, so the dies temperature is one of the most important parameters that have to be taken into account in designing the hot-forming dies and the hot-forming process.
