Digitalization has transformed all aspects of life, from social interactions to the working environment and education, something that accelerated with the emergence of COVID-19. The same stands for education and training activities, where the use of digital tools has been gradually advancing and become merely online because of the virus. This brought forth the need to discuss further the applications, benefits, and challenges of digital tools within the framework of the education and training process, and the need to study examples of successful applications. This study aims to support both these requirements by presenting the case study of REFUGEEClassAssistance4Teachers project and its outcomes.

Education and training process employees at this time still use many fundamental methods that have some weaknesses, such as the education and training process can only be done with the condition of face-to-face meetings between participants and instructors in class, the costs incurred to organize are expensive, the amount of accommodation and transportation costs , lack of motivation to attend training, lack of control from the leadership of employee training activities and possible loss of modules and subject matter. This research aims to build E-Learning that can help leaders, staff, instructors, and participants in carrying out the education and training process more effectively and efficiently. Besides this website-based e-learning can also be used as a monitoring tool for leaders to control the activities and results of employee training. This research was conducted at PT. Pegadaian which is an Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise engaged in finance by interviewing employees and leaders related to education and training activities that have taken place so far. The E-Learning Control Based Website on Employee Education and Training is designed using the PHP programming language with the Laravel Framework and MySql Database. By using this system, the education and training process can be done anytime and anywhere, ease in accessing subject matter, comfort in discussing with instructors or with fellow participants as well as easy access for leaders to monitor and control training activities conducted by employees

Purpose—Risk is intrinsically linked to all economic activity, and can never be completely eliminated; however, in certain cases and conditions, it can be mitigated. From the managerial perspective, it is possible to distinguish between speculative risks and pure risks. This distinction is made in relation to the effects produced from particular events on the economic conditions of the company. Speculative risks can lead to profits or losses, as they are connected to both unfavorable and favorable events, whereas pure risks uniquely produce losses or negative effects. There have been several studies on this topic from various perspectives. Our paper is based on an empirical investigation that aims to verify whether there is a direct or indirect correlation between risk-management policies in the healthcare sector and education and training activities. Design/methodology/approach—The analysis is based on an inductive research method that uses the case study methodology in order to verify and measure the direct or indirect correlation between risk-management policies and education and training activities in the healthcare sector of Regione Lombardia. Findings—The paper makes a clear contribution to the knowledge related to risk-management policies in the healthcare sector. Based on the case study of Regione Lombardia, integrates the dimensions of organization and individuals with the cross-section of education and training in new risk-management systems.  Research limitations/implications—This paper has several limitations. First, it considers only a single case, in Regione Lombardia. The distinctive features of the case may have led to specific empirical evidence and, moreover, the empirical evidence cannot be generalized to other territorial contexts/destinations. Second, the data set is limited to five years and is not sufficient to measure the direct correlation between the two aspects under study. Originality/value—This is the first paper to have approached, using an inductive research method, the issue of risk management connected to the education/training dimension by analyzing the case of Regione Lombardia. The findings should stimulate new debate in the business economics literature.

British engineers have claimed that their important contributions to economic and social well-being, based on their achievements as practical people, have gone unrecognized or unrewarded. Yet over the past thirty years efforts to boost the social prestige of British engineers appear to have undermined the social arrangements which fostered the strong practical ethos. Increasing reliance on the full-time educational system is tending to raise social prestige through bringing the ‘all graduate profession’ and through trends to recruitment from higher social backgrounds. Yet these trends have been associated with a fall in traditional and recognizable training. This paper examines both the nature of the ‘practical’ tradition and efforts to raise ‘prestige’ and asks whether the engineering profession is caught on the horns of an irresolvable dilemma—to boost either prestige or practicality. The paper concludes that in principle the British pattern of education and training has much to commend it still, with the strong emphasis on training elements in a working environment. But it is argued that its success will depend on engineers and their employers becoming much more active in the field of training.
