This study constructed professional competence indicators for technical personnel in fire safety equipment that can be used to guide curriculum planning of fire-protection-related programs in colleges and universities; training of technical personnel in fire safety equipment in the industry; and the mandatory national examinations for technical personnel in fire protection. To achieve the purpose of this study, document analysis, expert interviews, and the Delphi technique were used to verify that there are three first-level dimension indicators. These three primary indicators were categorized as knowledge, skills, and attitude, with an additional 12 second-level orientation indicators and 61 third-level detailed indicators. Furthermore, in relation to the importance–performance analysis, the falling point distribution of the detailed indicators of technical personnel in fire protection in the four quadrants of the IPA model chart was obtained in order to provide a reference for the industry, government, and academia.

Nanotechnology is used, to an increasing extent, in practically every aspect of the economy and society. One area where nanotechnology is constantly advancing is fire protection. Nanostructures are found in elements used in direct protection, such as in protective clothing, filters, and helmets. Solutions in the field of nanotechnology are also used in elements reducing the fire risk and increasing the fire safety, such as building materials and structures, paints, coatings, or fire safety equipment (e.g., fire detectors). However, new solutions may also pose a threat to the safety of people and the environment. As a result of operation or combustion and degradation processes, the emission of nano-substances with toxic properties may occur. Therefore, knowledge in this field is necessary, as it allows for the appropriate targeting and use of nanotechnology.

Introduction. The fire safety of the protected object is determined by the possibility of reliable fire detection. Insufficiently effective operation of the fire alarm system can lead to the death of people, unacceptable material and other damage. The video surveillance system, being one of the main links of the engineering security system, monitors emergency situations in real time and, in particular, a breakout of fire at the protected object. Goals and objectives. The purpose of the article is to analyze the state and trends in the development of video surveillance equipment aimed at improving the fire safety of protected objects. Tasks include regulatory justification of the use of video surveillance in fire alarm systems, review of methods of fire detection by video surveillance and improving their effectiveness under the influence of interfering factors, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of video surveillance in fire protection systems. Methods. The methods of the system analysis and probability theory are used. Results and discussion. The requirements of regulatory documents for detectors with a video detection channel for their effective operation in fire alarm systems are considered. The main directions of development of means and methods of application of video surveillance in fire protection systems are defined. It is shown that reducing the risk of non-detection of fire to an acceptable level can be achieved by increasing the probability of effective operation of the fire alarm system, as well as by increasing the positive impact of the video surveillance system, which is a part of the complex security system of the object. Conclusions. Video surveillance significantly increases the efficiency of fire detection. It allows you to get a visual picture of the state of the protected object, which has such a high information content that no other security means can provide. The use of video surveillance equipment in fire alarm systems, as well as their integration with industrial and fire automation systems is one of the main reserves for increasing the fire safety of facilities. Keywords: video surveillance, fire detector with video detection channel, fire alarm, video analytics, fire protection

The paper tries to expound environmental damage by fires and fire operations and thus draw more attention on environmental protection in fire protection. The environmental impacts are illustrated with many examples and concrete data. The article comes to the conclusion that: Fires result in not only casualties and economic loss but also permanent and unforeseeable environmental damage; People should try to enhance fire safety and cut down fire accidents while fire brigades should keep environmental protection in mind while fighting fires and choose environmentally friendly methods.

The expansion of production of liquefied combustible gases and especially of liquefied natural gas, aimed to ensuring the energy security of the country requires an increase in fire safety level of production and usage of liquefied combustible gases. In order to improve fire safety there is carried out the analysis of recent research findings, as well as national and international standards for liquefied combustible gases application. These findings can contribute prevention and elimination of accidents related with liquefied combustible gas fires.
