Type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy set (T2IFS) is a powerful and important extension of the classical fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set to measure the vagueness and uncertainty. In a practical decision-making process, there always occurs an inter-relationship among the multi-input arguments. To deal with this point, the motivation of the present paper is to develop some new interval type-2 (IT2) intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operators which can consider the multi interaction between the input argument. To achieve it, we define a symmetric triangular interval T2IFS (TIT2IFS), its operations, Hamy mean (HM) operator to aggregate the preference of the symmetric TIT2IFS and then shows its applicability through a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). Several enviable properties and particular cases together with following different parameter values of this operator are calculated in detail. At last a numerical illustration is to given to exemplify the practicability of the proposed technique and a comparative analysis is analyzed in detail.

Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is one of the most extensive and important tool to accommodate more uncertainties than existing fuzzy set structures. In the present paper, we describe an improved entropy based on TODIM procedure for handling multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) under IF setting and also the weight information is partially known. First, we study the basic notions and operating laws of IFSs, also the accuracy and score function of it. The new entropy has been proposed. Secondly, the IF information-based decision-making technique for MCDM is presented. Lastly, a numerical example is given related, to demonstrate that their results are credible and feasible.

Intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS) proposed by Atanassov (1983, 1986) are a generalization of ordinary fuzzy sets. They incorporate the degree of hesitation which is defined as 1 minus the sum of membership and non-membership degrees. Type-2 fuzzy sets were first introduced by Zadeh (1975) as an extension of the concept of an ordinary fuzzy set. Type-2 fuzzy sets have grades of membership that are themselves fuzzy. The membership function of a type-2 fuzzy set is three-dimensional, and it is the new third dimension that provides additional degrees of freedom for handling uncertainties. An intuitionistic fuzzy set can be converted to a Type-2 fuzzy set by subtracting its non-membership function from 1. Thus, an intuitionistic fuzzy multi-criteria decision making problem can be solved by using type-2 fuzzy multi-criteria decision making techniques. In this paper, an intuitionistic fuzzy originated interval type-2 fuzzy AHP method is developed and applied to the technology selection problem of a damless hydroelectric power plant. Damless hydroelectric power plants are environmentally friendly and sustainable energy production systems. Several criteria and damless technology alternatives along the Sakarya River in Turkey are considered. Linguistic evaluations are considered in this multi-criteria damless technology selection problem.

We introduce a new fuzzy multi-criteria decision making method using interval type-2 pentagonal fuzzy numbers. We propose to incorporate pros and cons of an issue to arrive at better decision. The necessary concepts and terminologies are defined. The proposed decision method consists of three stages. We use a prioritized interval type-2 pentagonal fuzzy aggregation operator to arrive at a tentative decision in the second stage. We use the existing concept of synthesis value and define a new suitable formula in order to accommodate fuzzy decision environment with pros and cons of an issue. A formula to combine the de-fuzzified pro-value and con-value of an alternative is proposed and the same is used to rank the alternatives. We further introduce concept of consolation score to align the final decision with the gut level of a decision maker. The fuzzy concepts such as fuzzy relations and fuzzy trace theory are employed to arrive at consolation score. This newly proposed fuzzy multi-criteria decision making method is a comprehensive and complete approach to a decision problem particularly concerning life-issues.

AbstractHair masks (HMs) act as one of the solutions for most of the hair problems like dandruff, frizziness, breakage, premature- greying and so on. Due to its various benefits, HM products are acquiring more popularity among the individuals. As there are different varieties of HM products available in the market, the confusion arises in choosing a HM which suits the individual’s hair profile and causes less side effects. Here, we have employed multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) combined with fuzzy set theory to obtain better results. We used the extended Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) method based on trapezoidal interval type-2 fuzzy set (TIT2FS) in this research paper to handle vagueness and complexity in real-world problems. For determining the objective weights of the criteria, we used the entropy method of weight finding. An example of selecting a hair mask product (HMP) among four alternatives based on five criteria is provided to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method. In comparison to other MCDM methods, the approach yielded more practical results. By doing a sensitive study, the method’s stability is also assessed.
