The production and rail transportation coordinating problem aims to determine a pre-operational timetable for a set of orders. The orders need to be manufactured on a dedicated production line and be delivered to their destination by the pre-planned trains considering traveling routes and time. The connecting trains are an important and even unique chance for orders to reach their final destinations, and earliness and tardiness penalties in the connection and delivery process are closely related to the symmetry and harmony between production procedure decision and train-allocated choice. A scenario analysis method is adopted to reveal the relationships between production collection connecting time (PCCT) and production collection waiting time (PCWT) in the production process. In the delivery process, the relationships between production delivery connecting time (PDCT) and production delivery waiting time (PDWT) are mainly considered. An integrated scheduling coordination model is established to maximize the production connecting time (PCT) and production delivery time (PDT). The GA genetic algorithm is employed to solve this problem. The numerical results show that the coordinated schedule in our method can significantly reduce the number of missed connections when compared with considering delivery timeliness only through a delivery time window. Additionally, it is revealed that the quantitative performances of the delivery timeliness improved by the connecting quality (PCT) are much better than those from the view of the delivery time window (PDT).

This study addresses a parallel machine production and transportation operations’ scheduling problem with a tight time window associated with the transfer and delivery process. The orders located at the parallel machines need to be delivered to customers by train. Each order must be processed within a limited completion time in order for the product to be matched with the optimal trip to its destination within the delivery period. A mathematical analysis method is used to reveal the impact of tight time windows on the scheduling of production and transportation operations. The order transfer redundancy time and order transfer waiting time are employed to reflect the impact scheduling of production on the transfer process. The order delivery redundancy time and order delivery waiting time are used to describe delivery operations. The goal is to maximize the coordination level of order transfer and delivery, which are reflected in the order transfer time and the order delivery time, respectively. Additionally, a simulated annealing algorithm using the column generation technique was developed to solve this problem. The results show that the use of the system coordination model in this method obviously improves the number of successful transfers and deliveries.

The paper poses the problem of adapting the algorithm of the hierarchy analysis method for the possibility of its application in the scenario analysis of projects for the development of the gas economy in Voronezh. One of the tasks of the work is to form a model for evaluating gas projects. As a solution, a project evaluation model and an adapted algorithm are proposed

Purpose Modeling represents the art of translating problems from an application area into tractable mathematical formulations whose theoretical and numerical analysis provides insight, answers and guidance useful for the originating application. The purpose of this paper is to determine the causal causes of schedule overrun and cost escalation of highway projects in Egypt in order to be used as independents variables in mathematical models for predicting the percentages of schedule overrun and cost escalation of such projects in Egypt. Design/methodology/approach A survey of a randomly selected samples yielded responses from 40 owners, 15 consultants and 56 contractors. The survey includes 38 schedule overrun factors and 26 cost escalation factors. The effectiveness degree of the identified factors has been identified by the triangle fuzzy approach. Findings The results of the survey show that “contractor’s technical staff is insufficient and ineligible to accomplish the project” is the most important cause of schedule overrun, while the major cause of cost escalation is inadequate preparation of the project concerning planning and execution. Originality/value The main contribution of this study is predicting the percentages of schedule overrun and cost escalation of highway projects in Egypt. Through the application of the linear regression analysis method and statistical fuzzy theory, four predictive models have been developed and it has been noted that the linear regression-based model shows prediction accuracy better than statistical fuzzy-based model in predicting percentages of schedule overrun and cost escalation.

The extensive use of smartphones by individuals has led innovators to develop application-based transportation services. Ride-hailing systems have been extensively operated in more than 600 cities worldwide. With the competition between taxis and ride-hailing, the number of fleets must be regulated. Identifying factors that influence the demand of taxi and ride-hailing and how the quality transit service is very important. The aims of this research are to identify the factors that influence demand for taxis and ride-hailing and the service quality of taxis and ride-hailing service. The study identified socio-demographic and trip characteristics from 949 respondents in the Jakarta Greater area, Indonesia. Respondents interviewed about the waiting time, travel time and travel costs for the origin-destination of trips that are most often done using taxi, ride-hailing, and bus. The service quality of ride-hailing and taxi was analyzed based on the respondent’s preferences from an important-performance analysis survey. The forecasting demand of taxi and ride-hailing in the Jakarta Greater area using demand-supply model is 71,660 vehicles. The research findings are that service quality of ride-hailing is better than conventional taxis based on waiting time, travel time and travel cost variable.

The possibilities of increasing the likelihood of timely service and reducing the average waiting time for requests for inter-machine exchange in distributed real-time computer systems are investigated. The analyzed effect is achieved as a result of redundant multi-way transmissions of packets that are critical to delays, which provide for the replication of transmitted packets with the task for each replica of the path (route) of the sequential passage of network nodes. The condition for the timeliness of the reserved transmissions is that the accumulated waiting in the queues of the nodes making up the path, at least for one of the replicas, does not exceed the maximum permissible time. An analytical model is proposed for estimating the average delays of multi-path redundant transmissions, when determined by the average delivery time of the first of the replicas transmitted in different ways. For requests critical to service delays, the influence of the frequency of reservation (replication) of requests on the probability of their timely service and the average waiting time accumulated at the nodes of the path for the replica delivered first was analyzed.

For large construction engineering, to perform safety pre-warming more efficiently, scenario analysis method (SAM) is studied for safety pre-warming of large construction engineering (SPLCE). Implement flow framework of SAM is established, the key cycles of SAM are discussed. To validate the validity of SAM for SPLCE, some practical instances of SPLCE are abstracted so as to generated application and testing sample. Comparing with whole index evaluating method (WIEM), under the condition of considering only limited key driven forces and some normal indexes, the result by SAM are almost the same with that by WIEM. SAM improves the efficiency of SPLCE, and it is fit for solving complex predicting, analyzing and evaluating problems such as SPLCE.

Texture analysis plays an important role in image processing. In the field of texture analysis, the regular texture has been studied a lot, but the natural texture with complex backgrounds is less studied. This paper brings texture analysis into the study of rice paper's classification. First of all it shows the processing flow chart of rice paper classification. By comparing the different kinds of texture analysis methods it chooses the LAWS texture method and uncertainty texture spectrum method to achieve the rice paper classification. When it uses the two texture analysis methods separately, the classification accuracy of rice paper is lower, so it tries to combine the two texture analysis methods. The experimental results show that the classification result got with two combined texture analysis methods is better than that got with one single texture analysis method. The classification accuracy of rice paper has been distinctly improved after the combination of the two texture analysis methods.
