This article presents the teaching approach of different universities in the state of Rio de Janeiro regarding the dissemination of two civil construction learning paradigms: BIM and Lean Construction. The article’s main purpose is to investigate the learning systems of the two techniques for the benefit of the construction industry, as well as to evaluate their level of recognition. The principal results show that civil engineers graduates acquire little or no knowledge of both techniques, which may become a barrier to their professional evolution and especially to their involvement with public works projects.

Abstract The article discusses the differences observed in official statistics on fatal violence of gender (feminicide) in the State of Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The methodology used is the case study, with the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The main objective is to point out the disparity between official statistics and the actual number of femicides. The main hypothesis of the research is that there is a great divergence between the official statistics of femicide cases in the State of Rio de Janeiro and that this can be explained by the high invisibility index (hidden figure) of this type of violence. The research is justified by the fact that Brazil ranks fifth in the world ranking of this type of violence against women, which makes it essential to multiply academic studies on the subject. The relevance of the research lies in the need to correctly diagnose the problem for the formulation of adequate and efficient public policies in the face of this type of violence. Keywords: Invisible Feminicide. Purpose This paper analyzes the implementation of the Life Cycle Assessment tools in the Brazilian small and medium-sized confectioning companies, associated with the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan). Methods Considering that SMEs account for more than 60% of the economy of Rio de Janeiro’s state, a multiple case study was carried out and the responses of a group of SMEs working in the state were analyzed in relation to their experience and knowledge on the subject. Results and discussion Most of the investigated companies act on the environment only with palliative actions that do not eliminate the cause or avoid environmental problems, only minimally comply with the legislation. Conclusions this research concludes that there is a great need to disseminate the concepts of environmental management and its tools, as well as the LCA theme among the industries, especially the SMEs, so that they have enough information to evaluate how they can insert the LCA as a tool of competitive strategy so that their products are recognized as sustainable, both in domestic market and abroad.
