Effective teaching and learning can be achieved when proper and adequate teaching materials are utilized, but nowadays, such materials are in short supply in the various institutions of leaving. There is a need for teachers to be conversant with the process of improvisation in order to bridge the gap created. Many educators and other stakeholders believe that they need to improvise become necessary because of the large students' population and scarcity as well as the high cost of imported instructional materials. Several factors are considered while improvising instructional materials. Some of the factors include, Teachers should save materials whenever possible. Also, the materials when constructed must be easily understandable to the learners. In guiding the development of instructional materials the teacher must consider among other things the need for the material, the objectives of the lesson, the learning content and activities etc. Finally, the following recommendations were made (i)Teachers should strive to produce the needed materials (ii) they should be safety conscious during the process.

The teaching and learning of computers in secondary schools is very beneficial for preparation of students for more challenging education in the University. However, many factors militate against the effective computer education in the schools. This study sought to assess these factors in Enugu State Nigeria. The study adopted survey research method and hundred questionnaires were used for the study.  Data were analysed with the use of descriptive statistics (mean) in SPSS. Respondents agreed that teachers based factors that contribute to ineffective teaching and learning of computers in secondary schools included that teachers of the subject were unqualified (=2.9) and lack experience (=2.6). Students based included absenteeism by students (=2.7) and lack of interest by students (=2.7). Government based factors included that government provide voluminous curriculum (=2.9) and do not provide funds (=3.2). Research indicates that children who obtain quality pre-primary education have a head start in life. It is also evident that early exposure and good use of instructional materials (IM) prepare children to be well adjusted later in life. Children are also well equipped with problem-solving skills that are important in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE). Instructional materials are core to effective teaching and learning in the formative years. The purpose of this research was to establish whether there was a significant relationship between teachers’ demographic characteristics and levels of utilization of instructional materials in pre-primary schools in Kenya. The study adopted the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning Framework (CTML) and Ecological Systems Theory by Urie Bronfenbrenner. Besides, the study applied a cross-sectional survey research design. A random sample of 168 teachers comprising of 76.2% females and 23.8% males participated in the study. The Chi-Square test results indicated that gender (x2= 1.335; d.f. =1; p= 0.030), level of education (x2=8.165; d.f. =5; p=0.024) and professional training status (x2= 13.620; d.f. =5; p= 0.020) had a statistically significant linear relationship with the level of utilization of instructional materials. These results implied that female teachers were more likely to use instructional materials than their male counterparts and teachers who were more educated and highly trained were more likely to use instructional materials than their less trained counterparts. However, age, marital status, and duration of teaching experience had no statistically significant relationship with the utilization of instructional materials in pre-primary schools. It was concluded that professional training of pre-primary school teachers is critical for effective teaching and learning at the foundational level. It was recommended that teachers should promote the utilization of instructional materials in their classrooms for interactive and experiential learning of pupils.

It influenced the internalization of Islamic Educationvalues to students. According to the above background, contextual approach was assumed to create amore meaningful and effective teaching and learning process. The study revealed that most teachersdeveloped instructional material merely based on Teacher Association for Islamic EducationReference, a discrepancy between lesson plan and the implementation was found due to insufficienttime and too-much material, and a problem in applying various methods was found due to student’sbasic competence diversity ranging from the 75-80% to 20-25% mastery creating less conduciveatmosphere for effective teaching and learning process. Accordingly, Islamic Education teachersneeded to review the previous materials using questioning technique and point particular students toanswer the questions during the review time to attract more attention. Keywords: Implementation of IslamicEducation Teaching Model, ContextualApproach, Improving the Teaching andLearning Process
