Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are one of the important components that students must master to be successful in the 21st century. The HOTS of students in several regions in Indonesia is low because HOTS-based learning and the instruments are not appropriate. This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the HOTS assessment content, empirical, and constructs referring to bloom theory in laboratory work. The development model used is the Plomp development model, which consists of five stages: initial investigation, design, realization/construction, test, evaluation and revision, and implementation. The HOTS assessment was proven relevant by experts and then distributed to 70 Physics Education students. The HOTS assessment was analyzed by rash model theory analysis with the Winstep program to obtain empirical validity. SEM (Structural Equation Model) was used to obtain construct validity. The results showed that the HOTS assessment was valid and reliable. The results show that the assessment has been able to measure every aspect of HOTS well in laboratory work so that it can be used.

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are essential skills for prospective teachers in the 21st  century. HOTS in the cognitive domain includes the ability in analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6). In the process of mastering HOTS, one must know first what level of thinking skills he/she has. Therefore, this study aims to measure the achievement of the cognitive thinking skills of students of the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Samawa. The measurement used test instrument in the form of essay test, then the results of the thinking skills achievement for each cognitive domain of students divided into three categories (low, medium and high). The result of  the student’s achievement of the cognitive thinking skills  obtained by students were in low category of 55%, the medium category of 11%, and 34% in the high category for mastering lower-order thinking skills (LOTS), while for HOTS, 100% was in low category and it can be concluded that the achievement of students' cognitive thinking skills is still in lower-order thinking skills.

The academic use of mobile technology engages students beyond traditional classroom contexts. Over the past few years, higher education institutions have promoted students’ learning and growth by supporting their use of mobile technology. Mobile technology offers educational possibilities that can enhance students’ growth in higher education. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between college students’ academic use of mobile technology and higher-order thinking skills through their active engagement and learning effort. The sample consisted of 456 students at a university in South Korea, and the data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results suggest that the academic use of mobile technology influences students’ higher-order thinking skills directly, in addition to their learning effort and active engagement in courses. These findings provide valuable information for higher education institutions that seek to introduce interactive and technology-integrated environments.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) hybrid learning on the higher order thinking skills (HOTS) of seventh grade students in global warming and their environmental care attitudes. The study was conducted using a quasi- experimental design. The participants of the study were 68 students, divided into two groups: one an experimental group (n=34) and the other a control group (n=34). HOTS test (15 multiple choices) and questionnaire (hands on activity) were designed to confirm the study’s validity and reliability. SPSS was used to analyze the data. The finding revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and the control group. The results of post-test data processing (One-Way ANOVA with =0.05) show that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that there is a significant effect of PBL hybrid learning on the higher order thinking skills of seventh grade students in global warming and their environmental care attitudes. The study is recommended to use in Indonesia’s education system after covid-19 pandemic end to increase education quality. This study showed increasing student’s environmental care awareness attitudes
