This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the learning model Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning in terms of the critical thinking skills of grade V elementary school students. This type of research is a meta analyst. The data analysis technique used is the Effect size analysis technique. The effect size formula is the effect formula with the eta squared (ή2) formula. The instrument used in this study was a coding sheet. The variables used to obtain coding information on the effect size of the meta-analysis study. The results showed that the Discovery Learning learning model was more effective than the Problem Based Learning learning model for improving students' critical thinking skills. Ancova test results show f count> f table of 0.009 and F count obtained is 6.12, namely 6.12> 0.65 and a significance of 0.001 <0.05 which indicates that there is an effectiveness of Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning learning models in improving critical thinking skills of class students V SD.

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in Civics in 5th grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta using Problem Based Learning model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of the study were 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman. The object of research is the whole process and the results of learning Civics with the application of Problem Based Learning model. This research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah Pakel Yogyakarta in April until May 2017. Data collection techniques used were observation, diary, interview and test. Data analysis technique is done descriptively qualitative. This research was conducted in 2 cycles by applying problem based learning model. The learning steps that were implemented were changes in the delivery of the subject matter, the students analyzed the problem, the formation of the discussion group with the grouping of students based on their achievement, the students in group for discussion, the group members delivered the discussion result in front of the class. The results showed that the critical thinking ability of the 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta increased after the use of Problem Based Learning model in Civics learning with the subject matter of the example of central and regional legislation. This improvement is evident in the improvement of students' critical thinking skill test result from 12.90% pretreatment score to 51.61% (enough) in cycle I and increased to 70.96% (good) in cycle II. The results of activity observations related to students' critical thinking skills are increased among others: active students in learning, students more freely in finding and collecting desired information, and students also have more opportunities to learn with friends.

Lack of critical thinking skills in students is a problem faced in thematic learning at <em>SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo. </em>Therefore, it had an impact on low learning outcomes. From this problem, this study aims to improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes through discovery learning model. Classroom Action Research (PTK) was used in this study. While the data collection instruments included observation sheets, test questions, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used a comparative descriptive technique. The subjects of this study were 22 4th grade students of <em>SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo.</em> The results of this study indicated an improvement of critical thinking skills and students’ learning outcomes. This can be proven by the average value of students' critical thinking skills in cycle I of 54.67% and increased again in cycle II by 69.84%. Whereas for students’ learning outcomes, in cycle I showed students’ average score of 70. Moreover, it increased by an average value of 80 in cycle II. To sum up, these results showed that applying discovery learning model in the online learning process were able to improve students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

This study aims to determine the differences in critical thinking skills between students who learn using the problem based learning model and STAD model. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method. The population of this study is the X grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Surakarta in the academic year 2017/2018. Samples were obtained by using cluster random sampling technique consisting of two classes namely X PM 1 class as the experimental class with problem-based learning and X PM 3 class as the control class with STAD learning. The technique of collecting data uses a multiple choice test to determine students' critical thinking skills. Data Analysis is using MANOVA. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant influence between the learning model on critical thinking skills. The application of the problem-based learning model proved to be more able to improve students' critical thinking skills compared to the STAD learning model.

KERANGKA KONSEPTUAL MODEL CONCEPTUAL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MELATIHKAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAHAbstractLearning to facilitate critical thinking requires a set of specific learning models that aims to trains critical thinking skills that in this study is the development of conceptual problem based learning model. This study aims to develop a conceptual problem-based learning model to facilitate high school students’ critical thinking skills. This study is a development research that will produce a model of learning products, namely a valid Conceptual Problem Based Learning Model to facilitate high school students’ critical thinking skills. Validation of CPBL learning model includes two components namely content validity and construct validity. The result of data analysis shows that the CPBL model can be declared valid with reliability percentage of 97% (reliable) based on syntax model assessment that is: 1) prior knowledge; 2) organize; 3) investigate; 4) analyze; 5) evaluate; to facilitate critical thinking skills.

The research was conducted aimed at knowing the effect of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques influencing critical thinking skills and metacognitive knowledge of junior high school students. The sample of this study was class IX in SMP Negeri 1 Ronggur Nihuta which was taken by random sampling with the number of students 62. The instrument of this research was a test. This research method is descriptive and data analysis techniques using the t test with a significance level α = 0.05. The results showed that the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques had an effect on students' critical thinking skills (tcount 90.66> t table 2.039); (2) There is the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with the Mind Mapping technique affecting the metacognitive knowledge of students (t count 40.68> t table 2.039). The results of this study imply that the level of critical thinking skills, metacognitive knowledge has an important role in improving the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

The learning model is a design that is used as a class design. Learning outcomes are changes in behavior obtained after carrying out activities in the learning process of the PBL learning model, learning can develop critical thinking skills for students. In the effectiveness of the PBL learning model, there has not been a comprehensive study of the effectiveness of learning model. The goal is to understand how much influence cognitive learning outcomes and Problem Based Learning learning models have on the learning outcomes of elementary school students. The results of the effect size test using the T-test are seen from the Paired Sample Test listed in the mean column of 49.27 and the standard deviation of 26.09 has a sig value of 0.000. The effect size obtained is 0.37 and seen from cohen's table that PBL learning has a moderate effect on cognitive learning outcomes in elementary schools.
