A Sustainable Supplier Selection in supply chain becomes a key strategic evaluation to sustain in a competitive manufacturing environment. Thus, a careful consideration in supplier selection should be identified and prioritised. For this reason, the studies were carried out to determine and analyse the elements that contributes to the establishment of the sustainable supplier selection. To investigate the effectiveness of Sustainable Supplier Selection in the manufacturing Industry, a questionnaire was chosen to collect data from experts. Using a Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method a Causal model was then established. These model shows that the priorities for Work System Performance (WSP) is WSP 4 (Manufacturing Cost Reduction). This finding is significant for manufacturing firm to establish a sustainable supplier in the supply chain management. Highly focuses on all these factors as a part of in their decision making stage for supplier selection will ensure their operation are in the sustainable manufacturing environment.

The increase of environmental pollution has led to the rise of sustainable awareness in recent years. This trend has motivated various industries to recognize the importance of implementing sustainable supply chain practices to seek economic, environmental and social advantages. From a sustainability perspective, selecting a suitable supplier is the main component of modern enterprises. It is also a challenging problem since several criteria concerning supplier selection are interdependent with a complex character. Therefore, the contribution of this paper is a new extension to multi-criteria decision-making model (MCDM) under an intuitionistic fuzzy environment for sustainable supplier selection (SSS) based on sustainable supply chain management SSCM practices. It consists of intuitionistic fuzzy set theory (IFS) with a decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) combined with an analytic network process (ANP) to identify uncertainties and interdependencies among criteria as well as analyzing the criteria weights. We modified Vise Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) to evaluate and rank the desired level of sustainable supplier performance. The suggested approach is conducted by a case study from the Thailand palm oil industry. Results show that the proposed model not only can find the most suitable sustainable supplier, but also the enterprises can aid their suppliers in improving sustainability by using the proposed method and can improve enterprises’ socio-environmental performance, which is key to achieving sustainable development.

Sustainable supplier selection and order allocation (SSSOA) is paramount to sustainable supply chain management. It is a complex multi-dimensional decision-making process augmented with the triple bottom line of sustainability. This research presents a multi-phase decision framework to address a SSSOA problem for the multi-echelon renewable energy equipment (Solar PV Panels) supply chain. The framework comprises of fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making techniques augmented with fuzzy multi-objective mixed-integer non-linear programming mathematical model. The various economic, environmental, and social objectives were optimized for a multi-period, multi-modal transportation network of the supply chain. The results show that among the various sustainable criteria selected in this study, product cost, environmental management system, and health and safety rights of employees are the most important for decision-makers. The results of the mathematical model highlighted the impact of multimodal transportation on overall cost, time, and environmental impact for all periods. An analysis of results revealed that transfer cost and customer clearance cost contribute significantly towards overall cost. Furthermore, defect rate was also observed to play a critical role in supplier selection and order allocation.

In today’s competitive business world, it is extremely important for decision makers to have access to decision support tools in order to make quick, right and accurate decisions. One of these decision-making areas is supplier or service provider selection. Supplier selection is a multi – criteria decision making process that deals with the optimization of conflicting objectives such as quality, services, cost, and delivery time. Although numbers of multiple criteria decisions making (MCDM) methods are available for solving MCDM problem, it’s observed that in most of these methods the ranking results are very sensitive. This work proposes a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) based framework that is used to evaluate supplier selection by using an entropy weight method (EWM) for calculation of weightage of each criterion, once the weightage is calculated the EWM is combined with Proximity Indexed Value (PIV) Method for calculating the supplier rank. Finally, the ranking performance of PIV method is compared with other MCDM Methods for same set of alternative and criterions. A numerical example along with graphical illustrations is considered and comparison analysis is provided to test the feasibility of the proposed method. In the illustrative example a manufacturing firm is looking for select most suitable supplier for supply among the ten-supplier based on four different criteria such as Price/Cost, Service, Quality and Delivery, in which Price/Cost is non-beneficial and the attributes pertaining to other criteria are beneficial one.

PurposeDue to stern management policies and increased community attentiveness, sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) performs a vast component in endeavor operation and production management. Sustainable circular supplier selection (SCSS) and evaluation presented the environmental and social concerns in the fields of circular economy and sustainable supplier selection. Choosing the optimal SCSS is vital for organizations to persuade SSCM, as specified in various researches. Based on the subjectivity of human behavior, the selection of ideal SCSS often involves uncertain information, and the Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) have a huge capability to tackle strong vagueness, uncertainty and inaccuracy in the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) procedure. Here, a framework is developed to assess and establish suitable suppliers in the SSCM and the circular economy.Design/methodology/approachThis paper introduced an extended framework using the evaluation based on distance from average solution (EDAS) with PFSs and implemented it to solve the SCSS in the manufacturing sector. Firstly, the PFSs to handle the uncertain information of decision experts (DEs) is employed. Secondly, a novel divergence measure and parametric score function for calculating the criteria weights are proposed. Thirdly, an extended decision-making approach, known as PF-EDAS, is introduced.FindingsThe outcomes and comparative discussion show that the developed method is efficient and capable of facilitating the DEs to choose desirable SCSS. Therefore, the proposed framework can be used by organizations to assess and establish suitable suppliers in the SCSS process in the circular economy.Originality/valueSelecting the optimal sustainable circular supplier (SCS) in the manufacturing sector is important for organizations to persuade SSCM, as specified in various research. In the past ten years, sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) attach great importance due to consumers, for-profit and profitless organizations, laws and regulations to the social and corporate responsibilities of consumers, so it has been recognized by practitioners and scholars. Supplier selection, environmental effect like a lockdown, and social cooperation and other SSCM programs can play an important part in realizing the triple bottom line (TBL) of economic, environmental, social assistances. In supply chain management (SCM), the sustainable supplier selection (SSS) and firm performance plays an important role. Traditionally, when evaluating SSS performance, organizations will consider a new framework to obtain the overall criteria/sub-criteria of the sustainability index by encapsulating sustainability. In this paper 12 sub-criteria for 3 pillars of sustainability as economic, environment and social performance is collected. Although there are many articles on SSS and evaluation, so far, research on sustainability issues is very limited. This study endeavours to propose a fuzzy multi-criteria approach to discuss SSCM planning, and studies the issue of determining a current model for SSS in the supply chain during COVID-19 based on the TBL method. For express the linguistic value of the subjective preference of experts we use triangular fuzzy numbers. By using fuzzy numbers to find standard weights for qualitative performance evaluation, then fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) is proposed to find the ranking of SSS. However, COVID-19 has a negative role in SSS and in firm performance. The situation of lockdown due to COVID-19 has a negative effect on the performance of the organizations. An example is given of the proposed method.

Abstract In this study, implemented artificial nueral network (Ann) in apparel manufacturing organizations to optimize the supply chain converging on right supplier selection by analyzing their performance criteria.Moreover, data collected from three diffrents factory to analyze the efficiney and profit -loss status of that units. Furthermore, analyze the supplier selection criteria of three suppliers in order to select the right supplier at the real time in apparel manufacturing industry . This study shows that it can be saved 20 % of the total cost.
