ABSTRACTAs China shifts its development model from focusing on economic growth at all costs to a model in which economic growth is balanced with solving pressing societal and environmental problems, there is an increasing need for management research on building sustainable organizations in China. This collection of papers focuses attention on the role of business in promoting sustainable economic development, highlighting a number of key processes including: the factors that foster transparency and CSR reporting, how stakeholders can influence corporations to abandon their CSR commitments, the benefits of environmental branding and labeling, and the antecedents and performance consequences of proactive environmental strategies. In this introductory essay we reflect on recent trends in sustainability research in China, and to encourage this important movement, provide recommendations for future research directions.

The computation of the optimal path is one of the critical problems in graph theory. It has been utilized in various practical ranges of real world applications including image processing, file carving and classification problem. Numerous techniques have been proposed in finding optimal path solutions including using ant colony optimization (ACO). This is a nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm, which is inspired by the foraging behavior of ants in nature. Thus, this paper study the improvement made by many researchers on ACO in finding optimal path solution. Finally, this paper also identifies the recent trends and explores potential future research directions in file carving.

PurposeThis study aims at reviewing the articles on the themes of manufacturing strategy (MS) published in “Benchmarking: An International Journal (BIJ)” and investigating the trends of publication for future research.Design/methodology/approachFive-stage methodology to conduct a literature review is adopted comprising: (1) article collection, (2) inclusion/exclusion criteria, (3) reviewing the articles, (4) analyzing the articles and (5) future research directions. A total of 57 articles specific to MS domain published in BIJ are reviewed. Further, a bibliometric analysis comprising keywords co-occurrence, citation and co-citation using a VOSviewer© software followed by content analysis to analyze the type of research, type of industry and type of tool/method used is carried out.FindingsThe study helps to find the scope of the journal and research gaps in the MS domain to provide future research directions. Most of the work found is survey-based or case-based in nature. However, there is a need for empirical research to be done in the field of MS.Research limitations/implicationsThe study facilitates researchers willing to publish in BIJ to understand different themes of accepted papers concerning MS domain. The identified research gaps and future research direction can motivate researchers and practitioners to coin new approaches in the MS domain.Originality/valueA comprehensive review and analysis of the MS literature published in BIJ has been provided. To the best of authors' knowledge, the current study is the only review study in MS domain focusing on one specific journal.

This literature review study explores 43 empirical research studies that report on the integration of Web 2.0 tools into language learning and evaluate the actual impact of their use. In particular, this review aims to identify the specific Web 2.0 tools integrated in the educational settings, theoretical underpinnings that are commonly used to frame the research, methodologies and data analysis techniques that scholars employ to analyze their research data, the benefits and challenges scholars spotted in their research findings, the pedagogical implications in using Web 2.0 for language learning and future research directions that scholars offer from their research.

AbstractAlthough children and adolescents are often asked about their “dreams” about life, scientific studies of “dreams” and related constructs are grossly inadequate. This paper describes the findings arising from a review study exploring the concepts of dreams, aspirations and related constructs in children and adolescents. Besides an overview of the concept of dream, conceptual features and unique underpinnings of other concepts commonly related to dream, such as “aspirations”, “hope”, “future orientation” and “resilience” are presented in this paper. The research questions surrounding “dream” and related constructs in children and adolescents are presented and future research directions are discussed.

Tourism is important due to its benefits and role as a commercial activity that creates demand and growth in many industries. Tourism is vital not only in increasing economic activities but also in generating additional employment and revenue. Malaysia has increased its efforts in diversifying the economy and decreasing its dependence on exports by promoting increased tourism in the country. For this reason, the use of information technology in tourism has increased. Hence, mobile applications and applet tools play an important role among Internet users. This research reviews 24 standardised usability questionnaires in the literature for choosing the appropriate usability instrument. Then, this study investigated the usability measurement scales of the well-known mobile application, Malaysia Trip Planner, on the basis of Nielsen’s usability principles. Therefore, this study could provide future research directions and recommendations on improving the attributes of such applications.
