In South Africa, high schools’ Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is faced with many challenges. However, previous studies have shown that mobile learning (m-learning) can be used to lessen the challenges faced in STEM education. Despite the benefits that m-learning can bring into STEM classrooms, its adoption is still below the expected rate. The acceptance of m-learning depends on the attitude of its users. Most studies focused on learners’ acceptance of m-learning. However, very little is known about rural high school STEM teachers’ acceptance of m-learning in the Fourth industrial revolution (4IR) era. This study proposes a model, which extends the Technology Acceptance Model by introducing perceived social influence and perceived resources. Stratified random sampling was used to select 150 teachers to participate in the survey. A total of 114 valid questionnaires were collected, and data were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling. The proposed model explained 37.9 % of the variance in teachers’ behavioural intention to use m-learning in the 4IR era. Perceived attitude towards the use was found to be the best predictor of teachers’ behavioural intention, followed by perceived ease of use, perceived resources, perceived social influence, and lastly perceived usefulness

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that shape behavioural intentions of customers towards the adoption of payment banks in India. The conceptual framework of study is based upon integration of technology acceptance model with initial trust, facilitating conditions and social influence. Further, the study tests the moderating role of age, income and self-efficacy on the relationships between dependent variable and associated predicted variable. A total of 507 responses were collected from the state of Punjab (India), using convenient sampling technique and were analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM). The results revealed that perceived ease of use had the highest impact on the behavioural intentions, followed by initial trust and social influence. Facilitating conditions and perceived usefulness showed lower impact on the behavioural intentions towards the adoption of payment banks. Also, moderation analysis revealed that self-efficacy moderates the relation of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness with behavioural intentions. Results imply that marketers should collaborate with developers to provide the customers with easy-to-operate solutions along with robust customer support mechanism to escalate the adoption intention of those having lower self-efficacy levels.

This presentation describes Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) when using individual protective measures (IPMs) against the spreading of viruses like COVID-19. The constructs in TAM are perceived usefulness, and ease of use, attitude towards the use of IPMs and the actual use as well as social influence, which were measured with relevant indicator variables. The statistical method used in the analysis was Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). IPMs include personal protective measures for everyday use (e.g., voluntary home isolation, respiratory etiquette, and hand hygiene); Personal protective measures for influenza pandemics (e.g., voluntary home quarantine, and use of face masks in community settings); and Environmental measures (e.g., routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces). The results indicate that all relationships were significant also so that the effect sizes were large to medium with the exception of social influence -> perceived usefulness and social influence -> attitude towards usage.

The use of Information Technology (IT) in the banking sector has seen a phenomenal growth in India. For its effective use and implementation, employees' acceptance and the consequent use of IT are important. Davis' Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) (1989) explains users' acceptance of electronic systems. By applying the extended TAM approach to this study, the authors aim to uncover various factors that affect the attitude and acceptance of bank employees towards CBS. The TAM model identifies perceived usefulness (PU), and perceived ease of use (PEU) as impacting attitude towards IT and behavioural intention. The model is extended by identifying social influence, computer self-efficacy, and technological facility as factors affecting perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The target respondents for this study were bank employees from the public and private sectors banks (State Bank of India, Union Bank, Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank) situated in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. Measurement items applied in this study were an adaptation of previously validated measures or were developed on the basis of a literature review. Responses were analysed using the 7-point Likert Scale that ranged from (1) ‘strongly disagree’ to (7) ‘strongly agree’. To test the reliability of the measures, a pilot study was conducted with 20 randomly chosen employees and modified scales. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data. Overall, the findings suggest that extended TAM variables positively influence the intention and usage behaviour through PU and PEU. That is, social influence enhances perceived usefulness; and computer self-efficacy and technology facility influence the perceived ease of use. Again, perceived ease of use significantly influences perceived usefulness which in turn has significant effect on behavioural intention and usage behaviour. Social influence of superiors was the prominent determinant of perceived usefulness of the CBS technology. Hence the role of managers as effective communicators is heightened especially in conveying the benefits of using IT and in turn achieving organizational goals.

Advanced mobile devices and global internet services have enhanced the usage of smartphones in the education sector and their potential for fulfilling teaching and learning objectives. The current study is an attempt to assess the factors affecting mobile learning acceptance by Saudi university students. A theoretical model of mobile learning acceptance was developed based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. Theoretically, five independent constructs were identified as most contributory towards the use of mobile learning and tested empirically. Data were collected through an online survey and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results of the study indicate that four constructs were significantly associated with mobile learning acceptance: perceived usefulness (β = 0.085, t = 2.201, and p = 0.028), perceived ease of use (β = 0.031, t = 1.688, and p = 0.013), attitude (β = 0.100, t = 3.771, and p = 0.037), and facilitating conditions (β = 0.765, t = 4.319, and p = 0.001). On the other hand, social influence was insignificant (β = −0.061, t = 0.136, and p = 0.256) for mobile learning acceptance. The contribution of social influence towards the use of mobile learning was negative and insignificant; hence, it was neglected. Thus, finally, four constructs (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude, and facilitating conditions) were considered as important determinants of mobile learning acceptance by university students.

Purpose This study aims to identify the factors which affect Generation Y’s activity in social media (SM) while traveling. It draws on and extends the technology acceptance model (TAM) and social influence theory. It examines the effects of social influence processes (compliance, identification and internalization), perceived enjoyment (PE), perceived risk, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on tourism-related SM activity. Design/methodology/approach The study tested the model with a sample of 420 Polish Y’s who had traveled in the preceding 12 months and used SM. The verification of the hypotheses and the analysis of relationships between the variables were performed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Findings Out of the four variables of the TAM, only PE has significantly and directly affected Ys’ tourism-related activity in SM. From among the three processes of social influence, only internalization has had a significant impact on the enjoyment of SM use and, consequently, on the SM activity of Generation Y. Research limitations/implications This study covered only Polish Y’s. In the future, the formulated hypotheses should be verified in other generational cohorts, in sub-cohorts of Y’s and in other cultural contexts. Furthermore, limitations include lack of randomization of the survey distribution. Practical implications The presented results show a generational portrait of an increasingly important consumer group on the tourism market in relation to factors affecting their tourism-related activity in SM. Originality/value This is one of few studies (the first in the Central and Eastern Europe context) to examine Generation Y’s adoption of SM in tourism-related activity drawing on and extending the TAM and processes of social influence.

The Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 is changing the way we live including Internet Banking. Although, the government has been encouraging, the acceptance of internet banking is still not well received by Chinese customers. The reason is because they are more concerned about the economic development on the banking industry, and less concerned about technology acceptance and its development. This lack of acceptance is also attributed to the current lack of social network influence to internet banking which including its weak compliance, lack of identification, and lack of internalization. This paper aims to identify the factors that may be influencing IB acceptance by proposing a model which can determine customer’s behavioural intention based on social network influence. The TAM, UTAUT and the Social Influence Theory (SIT) were simultaneously adopted for this study. It is to use the TAM model’s perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, the UTAUT model’s social influence, and the SIT’s compliance, identification and internalization factor for the analysis. For this purpose, a preliminary study was first administered so as to identify customers’ attitude of the IB acceptance. Thirty respondents were recruited for a structured interview. The behavioural intention and social network influence on internet banking in China was then examined with the proposed model. It appears that the model can be used to forecast Chinese customers’ acceptance of internet banking. It will give benefits to bank and society on paying attention to the influence of social network for internet banking in China.

Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic influenced education systems throughout the world, including in Indonesia. It makes the universities and schools go online for their teaching-learning process. Therefore, mobile learning can be an alternative solution to carry out the teaching and learning process as suggested by the government. The purpose of this study was to explore empirically mobile learning acceptances based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with satisfaction as the mediating variable. The population of this study is 250 Economics Education students at Universitas Negeri Semarang. The sample was taken by purposive sampling with the criteria of students who have used mobile learning in supporting their learning activities. Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS 24 was performed to analyze quantitative data. The results showed that from 6 hypotheses, there are 5 accepted hypotheses; they are; perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived interactivity have positive and significant effects on the intention to use mobile learning. The mediating variable (satisfaction) is successful to strengthen the influence between perceived ease of use and intention; and perceived usefulness and intention. However, satisfaction is rejected to mediate perceived interactivity and intention to use. Stakeholders should improve students’ satisfaction in their learning activities. The limitation of this study was the research results cannot be easely generalized in other contexts. In the future, other researchers can add other factors to examine better technology acceptance.

This study proposes a research framework that integrates personal innovativeness, perceived risk, cost and enjoyment with the technology acceptance model (TAM). We used the proposed model to explore the antecedents of consumer behavioural intention (BI) to adopt mobile commerce (m-commerce). Excluding missing answers and invalid questionnaires, 477 valid responses were collected. In addition to confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), we used structural equation modelling (SEM) to examine the relationships among the constructs in the proposed model. Our findings indicated that the younger group (under 30) had lower stickiness to m-commerce. Among the constructs, perceived enjoyment (PE) had the most significant influence on BI, followed by attitude, perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived risk. Our research results could be used as a guide and reference for m-commerce service providers to improve and operate their services.

Digital Financial Inclusion (DFI) refers to efforts to make digital financial services available and affordable to all individuals and institutions, regardless of their net expense or institution size and demographic location. Despite the immense benefits of DFI and DFI-based products and services such as mobile money and payment systems, users’ acceptance is thin, limited, and disappointing in some developing countries as Jordan. Consequently, this study has investigated the factors influencing the acceptance of the mobile payment system in the Jordanian context. This study’s research model synthesizes the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) variables and extended the model with perceived financial cost as an independent variable. The research model has been empirically confirmed by fitting the model to data collected from 304 Jordanian citizens using a survey instrument. The data were analysed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The result has confirmed that behavioural intention to use the m-payment system is significantly and positively influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived financial cost; behavioural intention to use m-payment system was not found to be significantly and positively influenced by perceived ease of use and hence the related hypothesis was not supported. Finally, conclusions and recommendations are further discussed in the last section of this paper.

Purpose – The main purpose of this study was to combine the extended technology acceptance model (TAM) with the innovation diffusion theory (IDT) to examine how learners' beliefs affected their usage intention of mobile learning (m-learning) and explore whether the relationships between learners' beliefs and their usage intention of m-learning changed under different levels of personal innovativeness regarding the new information technology (IT). Design/methodology/approach – Sample data for this study were collected from Taiwanese mobile phone users, a total of 750 questionnaires were distributed, and 486 usable questionnaires were analyzed in this study, with a usable response rate of 64.80 per cent. Collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling, multiple group analysis, and hierarchical moderated regression analysis. Findings – Perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived enjoyment (PE), and compatibility can play essential roles in affecting learners' intention to use m-learning. Personal innovativeness can moderate the effects of PU, PEOU, and compatibility on intention to use m-learning except the effect of PE on intention to use m-learning. Originality/value – Based on the views of the extended TAM with the IDT, this study incorporates intrinsic motivator (i.e. PE) along with conventional extrinsic motivators (i.e. PU and PEOU) into its analysis of m-learning acceptance for a more robust analysis and exhibits explicit results indicating that the effects of learners' beliefs on their usage intention of m-learning depend largely on their innovative predisposition regarding the new IT.
