This study aims to identify the factors which affect the consumers’ behavioural intention to adopt the Quick response code (QR-code) mobile payment. This study extends the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) with the personal innovativeness construct. This study reveals that performance expectancy, social influence, habit, price value, and personal innovativeness in information technology are significantly related to behavioural intention to adopt QR-code mobile payment. However, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation are found to be statistically insignificant. This study presents one of the few empirical works investigating the role of consumer innovativeness and thus validates the inclusion of personal innovativeness as constructed in mobile payment adoption research. Findings from this study provide valuable insights for mobile payment application developers and mobile payment marketing teams.

PurposeStructural equation modeling was conducted, and a sample with 577 consumers was investigated.Design/methodology/approachBased on the stimulus–organism–response (SOR) model, this study aims to explore how channel integration affects usage intention through perceived value in food delivery platform (FDP) services. Moreover, the author also examines the moderating effects of personal innovativeness and experience on the relationships in the model.FindingsThe study found that channel integration affects usage intention through perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment and perceived price. Moreover, the moderating effects of personal innovativeness and experience are both significant in the model.Research limitations/implicationsThis study found that perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment and perceived price are three major values influencing the relationship between channel integration and usage intention in FDP services. Moreover, for consumers with high personal innovativeness, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, social image and perceived risk affecting usage intention will be weaker than for consumers with low personal innovativeness. However, for highly experienced consumers, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment and perceived price affecting usage intention will be stronger than for less experienced consumers.Practical implicationsThis study suggests that practitioners should develop value-driven innovative services and activities by integrating various channels for customers. Moreover, they should segment consumers on the basis of different levels of personal innovativeness and experience to provide different strategies for increasing the intention to use the service.Originality/valueThis study advances the extant knowledge of the SOR model in the context of online-to-offline commerce.

Based on an extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study aims to understand the intention to use tourism mobile applications. WOM about app and personal innovativeness was added to the original model along with perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and attitude. A questionnaire was distributed through the convenience sampling method and 440 valid respondents were retained and analysed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of this study show that WOM about app represents the strongest predictor of the intention to use of tourism mobile applications followed respectively by perceived usefulness, attitude toward using tourism mobile applications and personal innovativeness. The findings provide implications that would benefit managers in the hospitality and tourism sector as well as mobile app developers in order to ensure the effectiveness of their marketing and communication strategies and adapt their activities to the needs of a customer of the digital age.


The COVID-19 has influenced customers' purchasing behavior, especially the acceptability of mobile payments based on quick response (QR) codes. Sustainability is key for retail to thrive. In this context, customer acceptance of QR code–enabled m-payments needs further improvement. This study examines the critical antecedents affecting QR code–enabled m-payments acceptance intention, with the aim of determining why customers must accept QR codes. The Mobile Technology Acceptance Model was modified, as we examined ease of use, usefulness, transaction convenience, transaction speed, attitudes, optimism, and personal innovativeness to investigate customers’ adoption of mobile shopping in grocery stores using questionnaire survey data of 351 respondents. Most constructs in the model influence shoppers’ intentions for accepting QR code–enabled m-payments. Consumers are more likely to use mobile shopping channels if the system is simple and easy to use. A validated model would be an invaluable guide for researchers during the creation and improvement of QR code–enabled m-payments studies.

The current study investigates how attitudes towards digital transformation and personal innovativeness affect the acceptance of emergency remote learning in the COVID-19 pandemic environment. The pandemic has affected all aspects of societies across the globe, including higher education that was also a significant push-up factor for the digital transformation of higher education. Thus, the main aim of this paper is to investigate the factors affecting emergency remote learning acceptance among the higher education students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The results presented in this paper gained from a study carried out among higher education students in BiH cover the period of April – July 2020 via the open-source platform. The study focused on the students’ attitude towards a digital transformation is a significant factor in accepting emergency remote learning. Also, the personal innovativeness score has proven to be a crucial factor for adopting this new learning setting, i.e., more innovative students have a greater emergency remote learning acceptance than students with a lower personal innovativeness score. Hence, this study pinpoints the necessity of changing the attitudes towards technology applications in education. It would increase the usage of remote learning services and provide students with knowledge and skills for the new labour market

The occurrence of Covid-19 has caused the existing school learning system to move to online teaching and learning methods. They are carried out to safeguard the continuity of school learning sessions, attempting to avert dropouts. This paper analyzes the relationships between organizational factors, perceived usefulness, Personal innovativeness, and peers with technology adoption among teachers in rural schools in Segamat District. A total of 117 teachers were involved in this study. The results showed that perceived usefulness, Personal innovativeness, and peers influenced technology adoption among teachers from rural schools. This study investigated whether mobile payment services could drive post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery in the ‘experience goods’ sector (e.g., tourism) utilising Bandura’s self-efficacy or social cognitive theory. It explored the factors influencing the intention to continue using mobile payment services and the intention to recommend these to others. An empirical survey was conducted to assess the study variables, and the data obtained therefrom were analysed using the industry-standard Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining method. The study results suggest that personal innovativeness and perceived trust influence consumers’ intention to continue using mobile payment services and that perceived trust, personal innovativeness and outcome expectancy influence consumers’ intention to recommend the use of such services to others. The research findings have filled a research gap in emerging markets and can serve as the basis for formulating a winning marketing and operational strategy for nascent technologies such as mobile payment services. It would be naïve to extract findings from mature markets such as East Asia, the European Union and the United States and to apply these to developing markets. In addition, this study’s investigation of the variables that can influence the intention to continue using mobile payment services and to recommend the use of these to others goes into the heart of the sustainability issue because the study’s findings can help mobile payment service providers sustain the use of their applications and thus also sustain the advantages as such.

PurposeThe mobile human resource management application (mHRM app) has recently been seen as an innovative cloud-based solution to manage human resource management (HRM) within organisation. Despite its great potential, organisations have shown resistance towards the usage of the mHRM app. This study investigates the dark side of electronic HRM (eHRM) by examining factors affecting HR professionals' resistance to the mHRM app using status quo bias (SQB) theory. The study also examines the moderating effect of personal innovativeness.Design/methodology/approachResponses were collected from 239 HR professionals using an online survey. Structural equation modelling (SEM) and PROCESS macro were used to examine the hypotheses.FindingsThe results indicated that regret avoidance, inertia, switching costs and perceived threat significantly affect HR professionals' resistance towards mHRM app adoption. Results also indicated that high personal innovativeness negatively moderates the association between inhibitors and resistance to adopt the mHRM app.Practical implicationsThe study's findings will help HR professionals reduce their resistance towards mHRM app adoption.Originality/valueThis study enriches eHRM, mobile applications and the SQB literature.
