Mass and rapid production of batik using synthetic color and printing techniques engenders environmental problems such as waste production, air pollution, water pollution, unhealthy and hazardous work environment, and a threat to the sustainability of hand-drawn batik. Clean production is one solution to this problem. This paper discusses the practice of batik with natural coloring based on the theory of clean production with an ecofeminist perspective. The method employed in this research is a case study with a one-unit production (cluster) approach of Putri Kawung batik community. The findings show that the practice of clean batik production in Putri Kawung batik community still focuses on the input and process of using natural coloring, material selection, and reuse of wax materials. This shows that the role of women through community gradually practices clean production, even though it has not yet extended to its output processing.

Sustainability has long been a buzzword and is also currently one of the major priorities of tourism all over the world. In many places, hotels function as a driving force for socio-economic development, serving as employers for the local population, but also providing space for meetings, conferences, private/family events, and ceremonies. Unfortunately, the hotel industry is also considered an industry characterized by the consumption of considerable amounts of resources. These include mainly energy and water consumption, but also waste production. Emphasis is placed on the role of the communication between the various players involved in the operation of hotels. The article deals with applying elements of green management in a selected hotel in Czechia. It analyses the implementation of green management elements and principles of sustainable development in accommodation services. The primary data were conducted from April 2017 to March 2018 and we used structured and semi-structured interviews with the TOP management of the hotel and by author observation. We used the methods of scientific work, i.e., the analysis, mathematical, and statistical methods. As part of economic and social activities, cooperation with suppliers in the close surroundings of the hotel and the selection of local employees work well. Room for improvement has been observed, e.g., in supporting local infrastructure or promoting environmentally friendly types of transport.

This paper highlights the role of material selection in the development and contribution toward environmental excellence in the building project Council House 2 (CH2). The paper focuses on the assessment of material and the strategies used by the design team in CH2to ensure the best environmental result. The paper then goes on to explore in a case study the application of these strategies in the selection and specification of concrete on CH2. The purpose of the paper is to explore the difficulties and rewards of careful research of manufacturers' claims and the relative benefits of different materials. The paper concludes that the process of material selection adopted on this project has increased the education of architects and manufacturers alike as well as being environmentally beneficial.

The new imperatives of globalization have imposed new challenges for international competitiveness, innovation, and territorial attractiveness. They tend to permeate the content of the industrial policies adopted by countries. This same trend seems to have affected Morocco starting from the 2000s with the adoption of its new industrial policy, Plan Emergence. Such a policy has made the promotion and the realization of clusters one if its main spearheads. As part of this contribution, the cluster approach is questioned in both its process of elaboration and its modes of governance. This is based on the case study of Atlantic Free Zone project in Kenitra, a city in industrial decline. The process certainly provides information on the role of central authorities in identifying the location and the conceptualization of the project; it also attests the importance of the instrumentation of cognitive frameworks and symbolic aspects of public action, in order to ensure the mobilization of local actors.

This is a business case study describing a classical success story that brought a business from a store front music store to become the largest producer of brass and woodwind instruments in America. Additionally, the unique work environment and operating strategy of this firm was not only visionary, but enabled the company to prosper in a difficult labor market. Finally, the demise of the company when new management attempted to be a traditional company clearly indicates the important role of the entrepreneur. Although the focus of the case is on the decision to re-locate a facility, this is an excellent case for courses in entrepreneurship, strategy, and operations.

This study focuses on the interplay of different aspects of organization during work environment interventions. Specifically how the interplay of collective sensemaking, and material artefacts influence an intervention. We analyze an organization-level psychosocial work environment intervention conducted in two postal areas in the Danish Postal service. It provides a case study of the dynamics of a work environment intervention by focusing on how the intervention affects the organization, how sensemaking and materiality in the organization interact during the intervention is implemented, and how the intervention in turn is affected by the materiality and sensemaking of the organization. The present study adds to the current literature by demonstrating the role of sensemaking and materiality in interventions. The paper ends with a discussion of the links between sensemaking and sociomaterial artifacts and what role they play during work environment interventions, suggesting that interventions needs to align with both to be successful.
