The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) literature has advanced beyond its long-standing emphasis on a firm's financial performance to include its social impact. However, it has fallen short of offering insight into how effective CSR is in the event of a disaster. This study investigated the community's perception of CSR in wetland farmers communities after flood disasters. Data were from 49 farmer groups in South Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. The research hypotheses were drawn: Perceived benefits of CSR initiatives affect farming community resilience, farming community wellbeing, and perceived competence of wetland farmers; Community resilience affects community wellbeing; Community wellbeing and community resilience affect perceived competence of farmers. The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis showed that CSR initiatives positively affected community resilience and community wellbeing but had no effect on the perceived competence of farmers; Community resilience had a positive effect on community wellbeing. However, both community wellbeing and resilience did not affect perceived competence. This study sheds light on the complex link between the community and the individual. Triple bottom line and community psychology theories were applied, and this study contributes to the social impact of CSR by focusing on both community and individual, especially in the face of natural disasters in wetlands.

<p>Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has strategic goals to maintain a harmonious relationship and contribute to socio-economic impacts on the surrounding communities. Therefore, CSR could be seen as a part of planning and development program in the particular area. This study focuses on oil palm plantation companies. This study aims to (1) analyze and assess the effect of CSR program in the development of rural areas around the estate by using indicators of socio-economic impact; (2) Analyze and assess the effect of intervening variables Integrated CSR Implementation to the socio-economic impact on local communities; (3) Analyze and assess the effect of CSR on the social impact of surrounding communities; (4) Analyze and assess the effect of CSR on the economic impact of surrounding communities; (5) Based on point 1 to 4, it could be shaped the Strategic Model of Integrated CSR Program. This research conducted in PTPN IV Pabatu Estate, District of Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatera, Indonesia. The selection method uses multistage random sampling technique. Total sample is 367 respondents, by using analytical methods Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).</p><p>There is a Causal Relationship between the Input of CSR and an Integrated CSR Implementation, this is indicated by CSR Input (X) is significant and has positive impacts on the implementation of Integrated CSR (Y). The direct effect of the application of CSR (X) on the Implementation of Integrated CSR (Y) is 0.988. It means whenever there is an increase in the performance of the application of CSR (X) it will improve the implementation of Integrated CSR (Y) which is equal to 0.988 units. The results show that the model-based of Intervening Integrated CSR provides a significant and positive effect on socio-economic aspects thus The Strategic Program of Integrated CSR Model is very appropriate to be applied in the realization of an integrated and sustainable palm oil industry.</p>

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in management domains is a well-known concept that links corporate interests and environmental/community values. CSR is considered a strategic policy that offers environmental and social competitive advantages. Organizations consider that CSR-based goodwill provides a tactical competitive edge and sustainable growth. The goal of this paper is to show how CSR programs affect consumers’ purchasing intention in the context of Pakistan. In addition, the effect of customer awareness has been studied as a moderator between CSR and purchasing intention. To this end, the study has conducted a survey and gathered Pakistani customers’ responses, and structural equation modeling has been used to evaluate the results. The study concludes that CSR activities favorably affect customer purchasing intentions directly as well as indirectly through improving brand image and trust, and customer awareness of CSR activities plays a moderating role. The implications and future research directions are discussed.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to scrutinize the effect of corporate social responsibility activities (CSRA) of the firm on its financial performance (FP) and analyze the mediating role of innovation and competitive advantage (CA) in the relationship between CSRA and FP in the manufacturing sector of an emerging country, i.e. Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach Data has been collected through an electronic structured questionnaire from 300 middle-level and top-level managers by surveying different manufacturing firms of Gujranwala, Pakistan. The study’s hypotheses have been checked by analyzing the reliability and validity of data and applying confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling through statistical package for the social sciences and analysis of moment structures. Findings Outcomes of this study supported the hypothesized model. It has been found that the CSRA plays a significant positive role in determining the FP of the firm. Furthermore, the CA and innovation have been proved as significant mediators between CSRA and FP. Originality/value The first time examining the intermediation of innovation and CA in the relationship between CSRA and FP is the primary input of this study to the literature. Practically, this study’s findings will help strategy makers of manufacturing firms in emerging countries develop better strategies for implementing CSRA, enhancing innovation, seeking CA and improving FP.

This study aims to present a literature review of recent studies on the relationship between environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate financial performance (CFP) and to provide a path for future researches. Using content analysis method, a total of 88 papers published in renowned journals, over the period 2015-2021, were selected in the review. Several findings have been made: first, the majority of researches have focused on the CSR’s “social impact” hypothesis on CFP; the reverse relationship seems to have been overlooked. Second, the contested results are likely to be attributable both to differences in research contexts and CSR’ laws but also to biases relating to the operationalization of CSR concept and CFP proxies retained. Finally, several arguments are advanced arguing for an indirect link between CSR and CFP. Future research should, therefore, pay attention to the different contingent variables that are likely to affect the studied relationship.

Corporate ethics (CE) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have been considered as the main determinants of companies' success as well as sustainability for company's viability. Both of them potentially affects on consumer buying behavior. This study aims at exploring the basic issue on CE and CSR. In addition, this study examines whether good corporate ethics and CSR engagement of companies always lead to positive consumer response in the context of controversial tobacco's company. Data collected by distributing questionnaires to the 318 respondents. By means of structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the proposed model, it indicated that the more well-defined of corporate ethics lead to the better evaluation of CSR activities, the more well-defined of corporate ethics and the better evaluation of CSR activities lead to the good corporate reputation. In addition, the good corporate reputation leads to the higher corporate trust, and the higher corporate trust lead to the stronger consumers bonding.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to delve into the interactive effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ambidextrous leadership on customer-oriented organizational citizenship behavior (customer-oriented OCB) and service recovery performance among tourism industry workers. Design/methodology/approach The authors collected data from participants working in tour companies based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The associations among the constructs in the research model were tested through multilevel structural equation modeling. Findings Data analysis supported the positive links between CSR and customer-oriented OCB and service recovery performance. Customer-oriented job-crafting emerged as a mediator for such relationships. Ambidextrous leadership played a moderating role to attenuate the positive impacts of CSR on customer-oriented job crafting, customer-oriented OCB and service recovery performance. Originality/value The study extends the tourism management literature by linking CSR to customer-oriented OCB and service recovery performance among tourism employees via customer-oriented job crafting as a mediator and ambidextrous leadership as a moderator.

Mining is an important industry in Indonesia. A nickel mining company has operated for almost 45 years. It has managed corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes in the neighbouring local community. In addition to the environmental conservation and mitigation, as well as socioeconomic enhancement, the CSR is expected to nurture resilience in the local communities. This study’s goal is to examine the effect of CSR on community resilience (COM-R) in the surrounding community. To analyse the effect of CSR practise on COM-R, Partial Least Squares -Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) is used. Results show that CSR has a positive effect on and a significant relationship with COM-R. Results also indicate that CSR’s contribution to COM-R enhances community collective efficacy, community action, and adaptation. Thus, the verified CSR and COM-R model benefits other researchers, companies, and governments to be further explored.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its effect on small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) innovation capability and financial performance from the perspective of a developing country. It also aims to explore the role of innovation capability as a mediating factor in the linkage between CSR and SMEs’ financial performance. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire was distributed among managers/owners of the sampled companies. Using a data set of 402 Eritrean firms and partial least squares structural equation modeling, direct and mediating effects were tested. Findings The result reveals that CSR has a positive and significant effect on the financial performance and innovation capability of SEMs. Besides, innovation capability has a positive and significant effect on the business performance of SMEs. The result also supports a partial mediation effect of innovation capability on the association between CSR and firm performance. Practical implications The findings from this research could enhance the awareness of the entrepreneurs, researchers and policymakers on CSR-SMEs’ relationship and help understand the importance of CSR as a crucial driver mechanism for companies to become more innovative and competitive. Originality/value By empirically examining the relationship between CSR, innovation capability and performance in SMEs, this study contributes to the ongoing scholarly discussion on the linkage between CSR and financial performance. Also, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, no other study investigated the mediating role of innovation capability on the link between CSR activities and firms’ financial performance in SMEs from a developing country perspective, making substantial contributions to research in terms of theory, practice and policy.
