The performance of a business can be measured on the efficiency of processes developed within. This article proposes 55 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that can be used as effective measurement indicators for evaluating the economic efficiency of shipping companies onshore with mixed crews, as well as the efficiency of mixed crews onboard a vessel. The KPIs were proposed, assessed, validated, and re-assessed through a four-stage research methodology within the GECAMET transnational project. The results of the research provide useful quantitative and qualitative tools for evaluating the performance of the shipping companies, considering the perspective of shipping gendering. The approach of establishing particular KPIs for gendering shipping and mixed crews is so far the first ever made. Also provided in the article is a classification of the proposed KPIs in categories related to financial costs, time costs, health and safety, education, and social.

BACKGROUND: Health and safety performance measurements aimed to provide information on the progress and current situation of organizational strategies and activities. OBJECTIVES: We developed a model to determine and select safety key performance indicators in order to assess safety management systems. METHODS: This study has been designed in six steps aiming at defining a model of leading performance indicators (LPIs) and selecting key performance indicators (KPIs) using the AHP method. RESULTS: According to the results analysis, 116 structural and operational indicators were defined based on the components of the OHSAS 18001 management system. For this purpose, 19 structural, 27 operational and 33 active KPIs were selected by AHP and BN techniques. CONCLUSION: Development of LPIs is influenced by various organizational, managerial, and operational factors. LPIs extracted from the components of the OHS-MS deployed in an organization are often passive and cannot show the changes in the safety status of a workplace in a short period. The model presented in this study was designed with an emphasis on extraction of active and operational indicators, as they were capable of detecting performance changes in construction industries.

The phenomenon of Albergo Diffuso (AD) represents an important development in the competitiveness between destinations and concerns the way in which historical and cultural heritage is used. The concept of AD is a new and innovative meaning of tourism which promotes the sustainable future through the recovery of ancient towns and, in the same time, developes further ways to create entrepreneurship. The goal of this work consists of the economic valuation model and conceptual defining of brand value referred to one case study of AD, Sextantio. It is made up of two parts: the first consists of a contextualization of one of the traditional formulas of Financial-Standard Method of Brand Value, because of the features of brand value in an economic content; the second part consists of a first classification of elements which are tangible and intangible to a brand of AD, related to the specific elements and based on different key performance indicators (KPI), deriving from elements generally relevant in hospitality tourism, and far more in this new concept than against the traditional concept of tourism.

Abstract: The civil construction industry has great prominence in the national economy, however, the sector is responsible for generating a large amount of Construction Waste (CW). The CW recycling plants present technological solutions that aim to minimize the environmental impact caused by the inadequate disposal of the CW, and that the generated material is no longer a problem and becomes a sustainable outlet for the scarcity of natural resources. This article analysed the economic, social and environmental aspects of an CW recycling plant, situated in Passo Fundo / RS. As a result, the quantification and classification of waste sent to the CW recycling plant was obtained from March to December 2016. An economic evaluation of the plant was carried out based on the comparison of the economic decision criteria between the Minimum Acceptable Rate of Return (MARR) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Subsequently, social aspects were evaluated, such as the profiles of employees, their salaries and issues related to health and safety, education and training. When assessing the environmental aspect of the CW recycling plant, the composition, the separation process employed and the way in which these residues were used were determined. The conclusions demonstrated that the company is economically viable since the IRR was higher than the MARR. In the social assessment, the employment opportunity for different genres stands out and regarding the environmental question, the ability to reuse civil construction waste in 97.98% of the material received.

Corporate social performance is discussed in this paper. The aim of this article is to propose indicators of social performance in the context of corporate sustainability. Relevance of the proposal has been verified through a questionnaire that focused on large manufacturing companies in the Czech Republic. Using statistical methods, it was found that a basic set of sixteen indicators can be replaced by six key performance indicators – Percentage of employees covered by collective agreement, Wage discrimination, Occupational diseases, Violations of ethical code, Expenditures on identifying and ensuring customer satisfaction and Percentage of products and services assessed for their influence on health and safety of customers. These results aim to contribute to both academy and corporate practitioners, who want to improve corporate social performance and through the use of key performance indicators to support transparency and sustainability of their business. This study, however, has some limitations. The key performance indicators are designed specifically for large manufacturing companies of group 27.1 CZ‑NACE.

The article shows the importance of key performance indicators in banking activities, the factors that determine the key performance indicators, the reasons for choosing a specific key performance indicator and the correct use of key performance indicators. The analysis of key performance indicators used in banking activities was carried out. The general classification of key performance indicators most often used in banking activity is given. Comparative analysis of the listed credit organizations on the main banking key performance indicators were carried out. To assess the effectiveness of credit institutions, economic and mathematical modeling is presented. The resulting factor of the model is the bank multiplier, and the independent variables are the most frequently used in the banking activity key performance indicators. Based on the economic and mathematical modeling, the forecasted values are computed, calculated as a trend over the last two years for all independent variables and a bank multiplier. The expert commentary is drawn from the prediction measures of the independent variables for the last two years. In addition, the article lists the reasons for the fall in the bank multiplier among the listed credit organizations
