The predictive control method is one of the proposed techniques based on the location and stabilization of the unstable periodic orbits (UPOs) embedded in the strange attractor of a nonlinear mapping. It assumes the addition of a small control term to the uncontrolled state of the discrete system. This term depends on the predictive state ps + 1 and p(s + 1) + 1 iterations forward, where s is the length of the UPO, and p is a large enough nonnegative integer. In this paper, extensive numerical simulations on the Henon map are carried out to confirm the ability of the predictive control to detect and stabilize all the UPOs up to a maximum length of the period. The role played by each involved parameter is investigated and additional results to those reported in the literature are presented.

Trade with perishables, especially food, has always been a successful business, marine refrigeration being a vital part of the specific international trade since it can cause economic losses and environmental fatalities. This paper analysis the possibility of decreasing the amount of R717 by mixing it with dimethyleter (DME). Two mixtures (20% DME, 80% R717) and (40% DME, 60% R717) are compared with pure ammonia, based on the fulfillment of the selection criteria of a refrigerant. The comparison will reveal the fact that the first mentioned mixture satisfies in a more convenient way these criteria, replacement of R717 with this mixture being a good option in improving safety, by not affecting the thermodynamic aspect of the problem, or its environmental aspect.

An interesting and fruitful area of research in maritime language is represented by metaphors and metaphorical expressions which abound in the language of seafarers. This paper sets to highlight that several maritime terms are the result of understanding and naming based on the metaphorical scenarios. Also, the aesthetic value of several maritime terms increases motivation and helps maritime language users to deal with them. The idea should be pointed out that the cognitive theories of metaphor have put forward the thesis according to which metaphors are not only a cultural symbol or ornamentation within a given discourse, but also a phenomenon that takes place to categorize and understand the experience.

The Audit Committee is a concept of Corporate Governance, whose main concerns are focused on organizing and ensuring the proper functioning of internal control, internal audit, and its relationship with external audit. Audit committees have emerged from the need to send recommendations to the general management or board, to understand them and provide needed assistance for their implementation. For these reasons, the boards of directors thoroughly oversee the qualifications of committee members, their autonomy towards managers, the information they receive from auditors, and what they report.

It becomes increasingly obvious that the current social stage comes with unique challenges, so the definition of success as gaining advantages only to one party to the detriment of the other must be overcome. In the new era, highly interconnected and transparent, we must find solutions to raise ourselves together, or together we will collapse. Our goal is to build a global community, energized by the vast informational networks (which have canceled all distances), based on responsibility, creativity, common benefits and values. Using new approaches and solving problems not solitary but synergistically, effectively, principally, the new strong currency in the global business strategy will become the trust. This cannot be achieved either by fear or legal over-regulation, but only by higher moral values, assumed and followed as the only long-term sustainable solution.

In this paper we intend to present the advantages of the double hull projects and to show how double hulled tankers are considered to be more secure in case of grounding especially if the soil is not too rocky.

The performance of a business can be measured on the efficiency of processes developed within. This article proposes 55 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that can be used as effective measurement indicators for evaluating the economic efficiency of shipping companies onshore with mixed crews, as well as the efficiency of mixed crews onboard a vessel. The KPIs were proposed, assessed, validated, and re-assessed through a four-stage research methodology within the GECAMET transnational project. The results of the research provide useful quantitative and qualitative tools for evaluating the performance of the shipping companies, considering the perspective of shipping gendering. The approach of establishing particular KPIs for gendering shipping and mixed crews is so far the first ever made. Also provided in the article is a classification of the proposed KPIs in categories related to financial costs, time costs, health and safety, education, and social.

"Blue Economy" represents a sustainable use of marine resources to ensure economic growth, job growth, an improvement in living standards, and the health of marine ecosystems. This research seeks to identify the requirements of the private sector related to human resources in terms of training, technical and behavioral competencies, as well as the presentation of the main challenges faced by the workforce. The present study is channeled to facilitate the access of young people to the labor market in the sectors of interest taking into account the demands of potential employers.

Year by year, the coastal zones are constantly changing due to the action of waves, tides, and human impact. The shoreline has been particularly influenced by the human impact over the years, especially by the location of hydro-technical construction to prevent erosion or floods. Thus, the problem of coastal erosion appears as an effect of sediment transport, modifying shore morphology. In this paper, we intend to study the hydrodynamic of the Romanian Coastal zone and the wave regime alteration due to the protection systems.
