The paper presents a novel approach to solve problem of stairs shape assessment for two-story individual dwelling houses. Selection among available shapes and construction of stairs is a multi-criteria decision-making problem in nature. It depends on a set of different conflicting criteria, that have different optimisation direction, different measurement units. There is determined the set of the main criteria to assess the alternatives is as follows: Stairwell Area, The Total Area of Climbing, “Climbing Lane” Area, The Cost of Stairs, and Ergonomics. A novel original hybrid MCDM (multi-criteria decision-making) model, which based on ten different multi-criteria decision-making methods: Game Theory, AHP, and SAW, Multiplicative Exponential Weighting, TOPSIS, and EDAS, ARAS, Full Multiplicative form, Laplace Rule, and Bayes Rule, is presented.

There exist many available shapes of stairs for two-story dwelling houses. Selection among shapes and construction of stairs is a multi-attribute decision making problem in nature. It depends on a lot of different conflicting attributes, that have different optimisation direction, different measurement units. A determinated set of the main attributes to assess the alternatives includes the following: Stairwell Area, The Total Area of Climbing, “Climbing Lane" Area, The Cost of Stairs, and Ergonomics. The values of attributes and importance of attributes are determined by grey numbers. The paper presents a novel original hybrid model, which is based on two different multi-attribute decision making methods: ARAS-G (Additive Ratio Assessment) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process).

The packaged beverage industry has grown rapidly. Now a packaged beverage industry has emerged with various brands. The emergence of many competitors, requires the packaged beverage industry to implement a strategy to survive and win the competition. One of these strategies is to make savings and maximize the use of resources. The savings made are contradictory problems with maximizing the use of resources, this is due to the use of resources, for example, the use of machines will require operational costs, even though the industry must make savings.The problem above is a multi-criteria decision making problem. Multi-criteria decision-making problems are characterized by conflicting goals on a problem to be resolved. The meaning of conflicting goals is that optimizing the value of one objective function will reduce the level of optimality of the other objective functions. One of the savings in an industry is to minimize production costs, while maximizing the use of resources, one of which can be done by maximizing machine utility. To increase the competitiveness of the packaged beverage industry, it is necessary to minimize production costs while maximizing machine utility. This can be done if the company's management implements policies to optimally achieve the two contradictory company goals. Optimization of contradictory or conflicting company goals is a multi-criteria decision-making problem. To facilitate company management in making decisions on conflicting company goals, it is necessary to develop a multi-criteria decision-making model. In this study, a multi-criteria decision-making model will be developed to optimize two conflicting objectives, namely minimizing production costs and maximizing machine utility, with limitations in the form of company resources to achieve these goals. To optimize the multi-criteria decision-making model developed using the step method. The advantage of this method when compared to other multi-criteria decision-making techniques is the iteration in determining the value of the trade-off (simultaneous search for optimal values of two conflicting objective functions). If the determination of the value of the trade-off in an iteration does not satisfy the decision maker, then the alternative value of the trade-off can be found by doing the next iteration. Optimization of the multi-criteria decision-making model will result in minimal production costs and maximum machine utility. The multi-criteria decision-making model that was developed also resulted in a production plan that was in accordance with the number of consumer demands. In addition, the production planning carried out will also be in accordance with the capacity of the warehouse, because the model developed takes into account the capacity of the warehouse.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to disruptions in consumers' lifestyles and purchases, as well as businesses' online business models. Online platforms are increasingly used for shopping purposes. To evaluate and choose an e-commerce platform requires using many criteria and decision makers. Therefore, the process of evaluating and selecting an e-commerce platform is viewed as a multi-criteria decision-making problem. The objective of this study is to develop a multi-criteria decision-making model to help consumers evaluating the e-commerce platforms. In the proposed model, the ratings of alternatives and the weights of the criteria are evaluated using the linguistic variable. Simulation examples are used to show the effectiveness of the model in practice.  Keywords: Fuzzy TOPSIS, E-Commerce Platform, Mcdm, Fuzzy Sets.

Banking has always played an important role in the economy because of its effects on individuals as well as on the economy. In the process of renovation and modernization of the country, the system of commercial banks has changed dramatically. Business models and services have become more diversified. Therefore, the performance of commercial banks is always attracting the attention of managers, supervisors, banks and customers. Bank ranking can be viewed as a multi-criteria decision model. This article uses the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to rank some commercial banks in Vietnam.

This study deals with small investors’ demands on thermal insulation systems when choosing the most suitable solution for a family house. By 2050, seventy percent of current buildings, including residential buildings, are still expected to be in operation. To reach carbon neutrality, it is necessary to reduce operational energy consumption and thus reduce the related cost of building operations and the cost of the life cycle of buildings. One solution is to adapt envelopes of buildings by proper insulation solutions. To choose an optimal thermal insulation system that will reduce energy consumption of building, it is necessary to consider the environmental cost of insulation materials in addition to the construction cost of the materials. The environmental cost of a material depends on the carbon footprint from the initial origin of the material. This study presents the results of a multi-criteria decision-making analysis, where five different contractors set the evaluation criteria for selection of the optimal thermal insulation system. In their decision-making, they involved the requirements of small investors. The most common requirements were selected: the construction cost, the construction time (represented by the total man-hours), the thermal conductivity coefficient, the diffusion resistance factor, and the reaction to fire. The confidences of the criteria were then determined with the help of the pairwise comparison method. This was followed by multi-criteria decision-making using the method of index coefficients, also known as the method of basic variant. The multi-criteria decision-making included thermal insulation systems based on polystyrene, mineral wool, thermal insulation plaster, and aerogels’ nanotechnology. As a result, it was concluded that, currently, in Slovakia, small investors emphasize the cost of material and the coefficient of thermal conductivity and they do not care as much about the carbon footprint of the material manufacturing, the importance of which is mentioned in this study.

The COVID-19 emergency is affecting manufacturing industries all over the world. Notably, it has generated several issues in the products’ supply and the global value chain in African countries. Besides this, Africa’s manufacturing value-added rate grew only 1.5 since 2018, and the foreign direct investment (FDI) from multinational enterprises (MNEs) remains very low due to high-risk factors. Most of these factors are linked to a non-optimized location selection that can adversely affect plant performance. For these reasons, supporting decision-makers in selecting the suitable country location in Africa is crucial, both for contributing to countries’ growth and companies’ performance. This research aims at presenting a comprehensive multi-criteria decision-making model (MCDM) to be used by MNEs to evaluate the best countries to develop new manufacturing settlements, highlighting the criteria that COVID-19 has impacted. Thus, it has affected countries’ performance, impacting the plant location selection choices. A combination of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods have also been used for comparative analysis. The criteria used in the proposed approach have been validated with a panel of MNEs experts.

There are many uncertain problems in practical life which need decision-making with soft sets and fuzzy soft sets. The purpose of this paper is to develop an approach to effectively solve the group decision-making problem based on fuzzy soft sets. Firstly, we present an adjustable approach to solve the decision-making problems based on fuzzy soft sets. Then, we introduce knowledge measure and divergence degree based on α-similarity relation to determine the experts’ weights. Further, we develop an effective group decision-making approach with unknown experts’ weights. Finally, sensitivity analysis about the parameters and comparison analysis with other existing methods are given.
