Steganography is the technique which has been used in many fields for hiding information and many different versions for each application are available in the literature. This chapter demonstrates how to increase the security level and to improve the storage capacity of hidden data, with compression techniques. The security level is increased by randomly distributing the text message over the entire image instead of clustering within specific image portions. The degradation of the images can be minimized by changing only one least significant bit per color channel for hiding the message. Using steganography alone with simple LSB has a potential problem that the secret message is easily detectable from the histogram analysis method. To improve the security as well as the image embedding capacity indirectly, a compression based scheme is introduced. Various tests have been done to check the storage capacity and message distribution.

Multiple methods are used to hide secret messages in digital color images, and the most important and most common is the least significant bit (LSB) method. The LSB method is a known and exposed method, and anyone with programming experience can retrieve the secret message embedded in the digital image. In this paper research we will add some enhancements to improve the security level of LSB method to protect the embedded secret message from being hacked. A simple method of secret message cryptography will be used to encrypt the secret message before bedding it using LSB method. The method will be based on using color image as an image_key; this image_key will be resized to generate the needed secret private key used to encrypt-decrypt secret message. The length and the contents of the generated private key will dynamically change depending on the message length and the selected image_key. The selected image_key will be kept in secret without transmission and will be known only by the sender and receiver and it can be changed any time when needed. The proposed crypto_steganographic method will be implemented to show how it will increase the level o secret message protection.

Nowadays people exchange information in digital media such as text, audio, video and imagery. The development of Information and Communication makes the delivery of information and data more efficient. Current developments in technology which are very significant have an impact on the community in exchanging information and communicating. Confidential hidden data can also be in the form of image, audio, text, or video. The Hill Chiper algorithm uses a matrix of size m x m as a key for encryption and decryption. One way to recover the original text is of course to guess the decryption key, so the process of guessing the decryption key must be difficult. break ciphertext into palintext without knowing which key to use. The LSB part that is converted to the value of the message to be inserted. After affixing a secret message, each pixel is rebuilt into a whole image that resembles the original image media. The Hill Cipher algorithm is used to determine the position of the plaintext encryption into a random ciphertext. 2. Testing text messages using the hill cipher algorithm successfully carried out in accordance with the flow or the steps so as to produce a ciphertext in the form of randomization of the letters of the alphabet.

Steganography is the science of invisible communication. Apart from the sender and intended recipient no one suspects the existence of the message. Using Steganography, information can be hidden in various mediums known as carriers. The carriers can be images, audio files, video files and text files. Image Steganography is a technique of using an image file as a carrier. Cryptography protects the information by applying the encryption and decryption techniques, so that the secret message can be understood only by the right person. This paper proposes a method, which combines the techniques of Steganography and cryptography, to hide the secret data in an image. In the first phase, the sender will embed the secret data in an image by using the Least Significant Bit (LSB) technique. The embedded image will be encrypted by using an encryption algorithm. At final, the encrypted image will be decrypted and the hidden data will be retrieved by supplying the valid secret key by the receiver. The process includes the phases of Data embedding, Image Encryption and recovery of both original image and secret data from the encrypted image.

Steganography is a technique or art to hide a secret message into a cover so that the existence of the secret message cannot be known by other people or third parties who do not have the ability to know the contents of the secret message. The Least Significant Bit (LSB) method is one of the methods used in steganography to hide a message by changing the value of the rightmost bit of a stego cover with a secret message. The purpose of this study was to hide a text message into an image using the LSB method.

In this paper, method of steganography in Audio is introduced for hiding secret data in audio media file (WAV). Hiding in audio becomes a challenging discipline, since the Human Auditory System is extremely sensitive. The proposed method is to embed the secret text message in frequency domain of audio file. The proposed method contained two stages: the first embedding phase and the second extraction phase. In embedding phase the audio file transformed from time domain to frequency domain using 1-level linear wavelet decomposition technique and only high frequency is used for hiding secreted message. The text message encrypted using Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm. Finally; the Least Significant bit (LSB) algorithm used to hide secret message in high frequency. The proposed approach tested in different sizes of audio file and showed the success of hiding according to (PSNR) equation.

Information is an important part of the current era. Information has become a necessity so as not to be left behind by the times. By utilizing information, ideas and innovations will emerge. This information can be used for the benefit of many people. The more developed means of communication, the more the use of information is also developing. With the increasing number of ways to access this information, we need an application that can be used to secure information by storing information in containers such as sound, so that information can not be known by others. Steganography is a file hiding technique that becomes confidential so that other people do not understand the secret message that is in it. Cryptography is the science and art of secure messages. Utilizing sound as a media to insert secret messages, as well as adding cryptography as a security message secret before being inserted, so that the process of transferring information can be done safely. The results of this study steganography techniques can be used in sound. By inserting a text message that is first encrypted and then entered into sound by the Least Significant Bit method.

Hiding the presence of data during communication has become a pressing concern in this overly digitalized world as a consequence of illegitimate access. These concerns have led to cryptography and steganography techniques as methods for securing data. This paper presents a modified information hiding technique based on an indirect least significant bit. Instead of saving each bit of the secret message in the least significant bit (LSB) of the cover media, each bit of the secret message is compared to a mask bit in the cover media. The result is saved in the cover media’s LSB. In this paper, two steganography schemas are designed in which the cover media are image and audio, while the secret message is a text file. A simple encryption technique is used to transform the secret message into an unreadable format before the hiding process begins. The experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm achieves promising performance

Security in the protection of sending messages is a matter that must be considered, because the more the development of the age, the more sophisticated the technology. So that security in sending messages and data communication should be of more concern. Therefore we need a method or algorithm that can protect the message to be sent to the recipient of the message. The algorithm that can be used in encrypting is Caesar Cipher, as a cryptographic coding technique for messages so that messages that look difficult to read and solve. As for the method of inserting messages on encrypted image media using the End of File (EOF) steganography method, which is the method used directly at the end of the file. In the work of securing techniques of messages on this system, using various sizes of images or images that will be inserted a coded secret message or encryption whose capacity is not much different from the photos or images to be used. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Caesar Cipher Algorithm can be used as a message security technique even though the algorithm is so simple but the level of security is assisted by the End of File (EOF) method to insert the encryption results from the Caesar Cipher algorithm so that the security level it has is sufficient to protect message information to be safe from eavesdroppers or hackers of the message that is not responsible or as a protection of data held.
