Towards Dynamic Collaborations in Virtual Organization Alliances

This chapter introduces a service oriented relative workflow model as a means of helping organisations promptly create flexible and privacy-safe virtual organisation alliances. It argues that virtual organisation alliances are highly advocated to adapt to dynamic B2B collaborations, driven by the fast changing service demand-and-supply requirements. However, the temporary partnership and low trustiness between collaborating organisations put challenges to effectively manage collaborative business processes, and correspondingly an organisation centred design method and a visibility mechanism are discussed in this chapter to provide a finer granularity of authority control at contacting and collaboration design phases. Furthermore, the authors hope that understanding the establishment of a virtual organisation alliance through the use of relative workflows will not only inform researchers a better business process design methodology, but also assist in the understanding of the dynamic behaviours inside a virtual organisation alliance and the supporting approaches.

The goal of this chapter is to explore potential IT support for collaborative networked organizations encompassing both the service and network orientations of e-business environments. First, it is argued that the main reason for collaboration among organizations is the need for a competitive advantage, leading to the concept of Collaborative Networked Organization (CNO) proposed as an appropriate organizational structure supporting the collaboration of organizations. Then, the concept of Service-Oriented Virtual Organization Breeding Environment (SOVOBE) is presented as a means to support CNO creation and operations, while emphasizing both the network and service orientation of SOVOBEs. Next, a feedback loop encompassing adaptation, business processes, monitoring, and networks is proposed as a means to provide SOVOBE members with support for agile collaboration within CNOs. Finally, implementation concerns are discussed, with an introduction of the ErGo system supporting organizations willing to cooperate in an agile service-oriented manner in collaborative networked environments.

The research goal is to identify and analyze the need of accounting information system related to the revenue cycle at PT XYZ. This paper designing the useful of accounting information systems to support the current business processes, especially on the revenue cycle process. The design method is an Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) which refers to the modeling and design requirements discipline. And the result achieved by analysis and design of accounting information systems can support current activities of the revenue cycle, especially for the documentation and store of transaction data, and generate reports in accordance with company requirements. Conclusions derived from the analysis and design is the implementation of a webbased application that can help PT XYZ to do the work in different places, such as marketing office, head office and especially at the exhibition. Ridesharing is becoming popular in many cities in China where transportation alternatives are easily accessible. Individuals typically access services by smartphone app developed by ridesharing company to join a trip offered by other private vehicle’s drivers who share same or geographically close destination. However, there are some internal differences within this region indicating the service heterogeneity of ridesharing. In order to discover this regional heterogeneity, this paper chooses Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei (BTH) region as research target and uses BTH regional ridesharing data provided by DiDi Chuxing Company. Then, this paper conducts an in-depth study by summarizing the travel pattern characteristics and evaluating the environmental impacts that result from individuals participating in ridesharing services. Lifecycle analysis of fuel and environmental input–output are applied to estimate the direct and indirect environmental impact separately. The results reveal heterogeneous spatial heterogeneous of ridesharing, including travel pattern and environmental influence caused by service demand and supply, which results from the unbalance of regional development and infrastructure construction condition of the transportation system, and other travel behavior differences.

In the last decade unprecedented technological changes have taken place, resulting in the emergence of a fundamentally new economic model. Based on the widespread spread of smartphones, the world has become more “connected”. The digitalization of demand and supply contributed to the creation of entirely new digital markets managed by platform enterprises based on an open business model, that enabled external consumers and producers to connect and interact with each other. A more interconnected world generates vast amounts of data, allowing platform companies to invest in machine learning and artificial intelligence and ultimately improve their efficiency. Finally, a steady digitalization of business processes, markets and global value chains is observed. In these circumstances, approaches to value addition are fundamentally changing in the context of new dimensions of the digital economy, the analysis of which was the purpose of our study. It has been identified, that in the absence of a standardized international methodology for measuring the digital economy, the latter is so far possible on disparate development-left and national statistics. Initiatives taken at the international level to overcome national differential approaches are still insufficient, as there is a lack of statistics and variables related to digital data. It has been revealed, that the lack of quality statistics on key indicators of the digital economy makes it difficult to assess the value added in the world economy scale and international comparisons. Much of the challenges of measuring value added in the digital economy, as shown in the article, are related to the principle of “scale without mass,” the intangible nature of capital, the intense growth of large-scale cross-border data flows, and the emergence of new sources of value creation.

Many benefits from implementation of e-business solutions are related to network effects which means that there are many interconnected parties utilizing the same or compatible technologies. The large-scale adoption of e-business practices in public sectors and in small and medium enterprises (SMEs)-prevailing economic environments will be successful if appropriate support in the form of education, adequate legislative, directions, and open source applications is provided. This case study describes the adoption of e-business in public sectors and SMEs by using an integrated open source approach called e-modules. E-module is a model which has process properties, data properties, and requirements on technology. Therefore e-module presents a holistic framework for deployment of e-business solutions and such e-module structure mandates an approach which requires reengineering of business processes and adoption of strong standardization that solves interoperability issues. E-module is based on principles of service-oriented architectures with guidelines for introduction into business processes and integration with ERP systems. Such an open source approach enables the spreading of compatible software solutions across any given country, thus, increasing e-business adoption. This paper presents a methodology for defining and building e-modules.

Component-based approaches generalize basic object-oriented implementations by allowing large collections of objects to be grouped together and externalized in terms of public interfaces. A typical component-based system will include a large number of interacting components. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) organizes a system in terms of components that communicate via services. Components publish services that they implement as business processes. Consequently, a change to a single component can have a ripple effect on the service-driven system. Component reconfiguration is motivated by the need to evolve the component architecture and can take a number of forms. The authors define a dynamic architecture as one that supports changing the behavior and topology of existing components without stopping, updating, and redeploying the system. This chapter addresses the problem of dynamic reconfiguration of component-based architectures. It proposes a reification approach that represents key features of a language in data, so that a system can reason and dynamically modify aspects of it. The approach is described in terms of a new language called µLEAP and validated by implementing a simple case study.
