In order to develop computational thinking, it is essential to modify the initial training of teachers, that is to say, to restructure the curricula of the faculties or professional schools of education in any field or context it is going to be possible to identify areas of basic or general training and areas of specialized training. As well as reading or writing, computer thinking is currently essential because its application in any professional context is necessary.

The major thesis of this paper is that some of the most dramatic gains in special education have been in the education of emotionally disturbed children. Unfortunately, the converse is equally true — some of the most pressing needs in special education are evident in this area. A minor, though significant, theme is that, while the field of emotional disturbance has perhaps the most shallow pedogogical roots of any category of exceptionality in special education, it has the deepest philosophical and psychological roots. This could be an asset in the present context of decline in support for professional schools of education. Other categorical areas of special education have had more primary affiliation with pedagogy, whereas the education of emotionally disturbed children has had more basic affiliation with psychology. I will first discuss the strengths of the area and selected accomplishments and changes during the past 20 years — the approximate total history — as a significant area of education. I will then focus on some of the challenges and opportunities for growth. My discussion of our strengths is divided into three parts: (a) maturing and change in our perspective, (b) areas in which we have been in the vanguard of special education, and (c) specific gains we have made.

Abstract The level of occupational health and safety is one of the determinants of the company's efficiency. The article assessed the quality of general initial training (general training) and initial training at the workplace (on-the-job training) carried out in selected business entities related to the hard coal mining industry. Problem included in the above trainings were interpreted as a criterion function within a multi-criteria analysis based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Application of the AHP method allowed to perform a diagnostic (comparative) assessment of objects (business entities), both objects and accepted assessment criteria were compared in pairs with each other (the evaluator's preferences (subjectivity of assessments) are treated in the Analytic Hierarchy Process as a natural phenomenon).

In the recent past many professional schools of education in the United States have embraced social justice as central to their mission in preparing teachers, counselors, and administrators to work in preK-16 settings. This article documents our initial inquiry guided by mindful wonderment into an effort to frame social justice as a collective collaboration involving support staff, faculty, and administrators within a graduate school of education. A series of focus groups made up of members of a school of education considered the commitment to social justice not only for its preK-16 candidates but also for transforming the environment and culture within the institution.

This paper seeks to access the stated knowledge about the practices and challenges faced by teachers and educators in the activities of plastic and visual expression in Primary Education in Portugal. As teacher training is nowadays organized in two cycles of higher education: a first cycle of initial training in basic education and a second cycle of specialized training with emphasis on supervised teaching practices, we tried to study some reports of these practices, made to obtain the Master's degree. In these reports, future teachers present the activities implemented in the school context as well as the teaching-learning procedures and strategies developed with elementary school students with the integration of different curricular areas.
