Internet of things (IoT) has attracted researchers in recent years as it has a great potential to solve many emerging problems. An IoT platform is missioned to operate as a horizontal key element for serving various vertical IoT domains such as structure monitoring, smart agriculture, healthcare, miner safety monitoring, smart home, and healthcare. In this chapter, the authors propose a comprehensive analysis of IoT platforms to evaluate their capabilities. The selected metrics (features) to investigate the IoT platforms are “ability to serve different domains,” “ability to handle different data formats,” “ability to process unlimited size of data from various context,” “ability to convert unstructured data to structured data,” and “ability to produce complex reports.” These metrics are chosen by considering the reporting capabilities of various IoT platforms, big data concepts, and domain-related issues. The authors provide a detailed comparison derived from the metric analysis to show the advantages and drawbacks of IoT platforms.

Heterogeneity of protocol communications, data formats, data structure, and hardware specifications on the Internet of things can lead to an Interoperability problem. The solution provides middleware that capable to work in heterogeneity communications, data formats, etc. This paper proposed. A cloud-based middleware that provides a communication interface to receive data from sensor nodes based on Restful and CoAP. Received data then stored in heterogenous IoT data storage based on the NoSQL database. From experiment and testing, interoperability testing methodology was used. The result shows proposed middleware can receive data from both protocols. The received data could store based on structure data or unstructured data on IoT data storage.

Abstract: Technological advancements such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are helping to boost the global agricultural sector as it is expected to grow by around seventy percent in the next two decades. There are sensor-based systems in place to keep track of the plants and the surrounding environment. This technology allows farmers to watch and control farm operations from afar, but it has a few limitations. For farmers, these technologies are prohibitively expensive and demand a high level of technological competence. Besides, Climate change has a significant impact on crops because increased temperatures and changes in precipitation patterns increase the likelihood of disease outbreaks, resulting in crop losses and potentially irreversible plant destruction. Because of recent advancements in IoT and Cloud Computing, new applications built on highly innovative and scalable service platforms are now being developed. The use of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions has enormous promise for improving the quality and safety of agricultural products. Precision farming's telemonitoring system relies heavily on Internet of Things (IoT) platforms; therefore, this article quickly reviews the most common IoT platforms used in precision agriculture, highlighting both their key benefits and drawbacks

The development of Internet of things eventually depends on the strength of industry chain. It is crucial for Internet of things that all parties in industry chain make progress together and develop synergistically. In this way, Internet of things can be developed more powerfully and widely. Therefore, the research on problems about synergistic development of the industry chain in Internet of things is significant for our country’s industry of internet of things to develop soundly, stably and continuously. The thesis applies the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation based on value net, to evaluate the industry chain in Internet of things in three levels, including management synergy, operational synergy and synergy between products and applications. Then the thesis analyzes the results of the evaluation in order to promote the research in relevant fields as a reference.

The rapid growth of small Internet connected devices, known as the Internet of Things (IoT), is creating a new set of challenges to create secure, private infrastructures. This paper reviews the current literature on the challenges and approaches to security and privacy in the Internet of Things, with a strong focus on how these aspects are handled in IoT middleware. We focus on IoT middleware because many systems are built from existing middleware and these inherit the underlying security properties of the middleware framework. The paper is composed of three main sections. Firstly, we propose a matrix of security and privacy threats for IoT. This matrix is used as the basis of a widespread literature review aimed at identifying requirements on IoT platforms and middleware. Secondly, we present a structured literature review of the available middleware and how security is handled in these middleware approaches. We utilise the requirements from the first phase to evaluate. Finally, we draw a set of conclusions and identify further work in this area.

Currently, data gathering techniques have increased through which unstructured data creeps in, along with well defined data formats. Mining these data and bringing out useful patterns seems difficult. Various data mining algorithms were put forth for this purpose. The associated patterns generated by the association rule mining algorithms are large in number. Every ARM focuses on positive rule mining and very few literature has focussed on rare_itemsets_mining. The work aims at retrieving the rare itemsets that are of most interest to the user by utilizing various interestingness measures. Both positive and negative itemset mining would be focused in this work.

Abstract It has become easier to access agriculture data in recent years as a result of a decline in digital breaches between agricultural producers and IoT technologies. These future technologies can be used to boost productivity by cultivating food more sustainably while also preserving the environment, thanks to improved water use and input and treatment optimization. The Internet of Things (IoT) enables the production of agricultural process-supporting systems. Referred to as remote monitoring systems, decision support tools, automated irrigation systems, frost protection systems, and fertilisation systems, respectively. Farmers and researchers must be provided with a detailed understanding of IoT applications in agriculture as a result of the knowledge described above. This study is about using Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and techniques to enhance agriculture. This article is meant to serve as an introduction to IoT-based applications in agriculture by identifying need for such tools and explaining how they support agriculture.
