A Service-oriented Methodology for Supporting Business Process Architecture Layers in Supply Chain Management

The uncertainties in Supply Chain Management (SCM) have increased the business requirement changes, which increase the complexity in the supply chain processes (SCP). As a result, different technologies of IT system have been emerged based on companies' business processes. Hence, managing the business process is crucial in SCM in which process modeling plays key role for analyzing and redesigning of process. Consequently, many methodologies in SCM have been developed to support the requirements for the modeling of SCP. However, they cannot cover the details of the business process in the lower level, i.e. the coordination of the SCP and their interaction, which can be addressed by service-oriented approach. Therefore, this paper aims at proposing a service-oriented methodology, which provides a new approach for supporting the business process architecture layers. The findings prove that the methodology narrows the gap between process analysts and information system developers, using the combination of modeling languages.

The paper describes the principle of the reengineering of supply chain management integrated scheduling processes in order to increase in efficiency of business process and decrease the decision-making time at collision of plan-fact deviations. The basic concept of business-processes reengineering is analyzed. The experience of reengineering of supply chain integrated scheduling business processes for the oil and gas branch is presented. The bottlenecks of the current practice were revealed. The purpose of this paper is to carry out recommendations for improving business processes based on an analysis of the current realization of the process, his provision with information systems and data flows.

Purpose The value of big data in supply chain management (SCM) is typically motivated by the improvement of business processes and decision-making practices. However, the aspect of value associated with big data in SCM is not well understood. The purpose of this paper is to mitigate the weakly understood nature of big data concerning big data’s value in SCM from a business process perspective. Design/methodology/approach A content-analysis-based literature review has been completed, in which an inductive and three-level coding procedure has been applied on 72 articles. Findings By identifying and defining constructs, a big data SCM framework is offered using business process theory and value theory as lenses. Value discovery, value creation and value capture represent different value dimensions and bring a multifaceted view on how to understand and realize the value of big data. Research limitations/implications This study further elucidates big data and SCM literature by adding additional insights to how the value of big data in SCM can be conceptualized. As a limitation, the constructs and assimilated measures need further empirical evidence. Practical implications Practitioners could adopt the findings for conceptualization of strategies and educational purposes. Furthermore, the findings give guidance on how to discover, create and capture the value of big data. Originality/value Extant SCM theory has provided various views to big data. This study synthesizes big data and brings a multifaceted view on its value from a business process perspective. Construct definitions, measures and research propositions are introduced as an important step to guide future studies and research designs.

Service-oriented computing is becoming increasingly popular. It allows designing flexible and adaptable software systems that can be easily adopted on demand by software customers. Those benefits are from primary importance in the context of supply chain management; that is why this paper proposes to apply ProDAOSS, a process for developing adaptable and open service systems to an industrial case study in outbound logistics. ProDAOSS is conceived as a plug-in for I-Tropos - a broader development methodology - so that it covers the whole software development life cycle. At analysis level, flexible business processes are generically modelled with different complementary views. First of all, an aggregate services view of the whole applicative package is offered; then services are split using an agent ontology - through the i* framework - to represent it as an organization of agents. A dynamic view completes the documentation by offering the service realization paths. At design stage, the service center architecture proposes a reference architectural pattern for services realization in an adaptable and open manner. The paper finally presents the implemented platform for a particular service – manage transport – so that the reader can realize how the developments have been achieved.

Supply chain management provides a new kind of enterprise relationship management for ensuring the survival and development of enterprises in modern market competition, but with the development of business, information explosion, and the acceleration of business globalization, supply chain management will become increasingly complex. This article provides a method to construct the enterprise supply chain systems from the perspective of the business process management. It utilizes service-oriented architecture to achieve the componentization of each business unit, which makes chain system adapt to the changes of business processes rapidly and deploy these changes into IT system. Ultimately, IT systems can respond to supply chain system in time and then reduce operation costs and time when enterprise is carrying out business restructuring and process optimization.

Supply Chain Management (SCM) aims to maximize the value of the products produced to meet customers' needs and demands. This study aims to conduct an assessment of Supply Chain Management at MS Company and suggested BPMN with adjusted business processes. The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) approach is useful for describing complex business process modelling in detail but still easy to understand. Thus, it can minimize errors in implementing business processes. We used the study case approach to conduct this research by studying several journals related to SCM. A discussion was then held to improve the four main processes associated with SCM, and the improvement was written by using BPMN. This study explains that BPMN can be used to give detail and minimize errors so that the modified business process modelling is easy to understand and facilitates communication between business process designers and business process executors. Some MS company improvement in its SCM includes production scheduling, goods procurement, production implementation, and warehouse management. It is suggested that further observation and examination of the improved SCM is needed to prove the new SCM's success in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.


The chapter defines business Process Re-Engineering (BPR) from a few perspectives to make clear what it is, what it is not, and what it should be. Essentially, the classic definitions provided by Hammer and Champy, as well as Davenport, are used. The common themes encountered in re-engineered business processes are also mentioned, including the kinds of changes that occur when a company re-engineers its business processes. In order to better explain the concepts of BPR, a business process is defined in fundamental terms and distinguished from a function or department (i.e. work unit). The basic types of business processes are described, and those that are mainly focused on by companies in implementing BPR are highlighted. In addition, a general description of the entire spectrum of business processes typical to organizations, comprising both core and support activities, is provided as an overview. Specifically, the core and support processes that apply to the construction industry are defined. In the next part, the enabling role of IT in BPR is explained in relation to how it is crucial to process innovation for e-business, as well as process integration for supply chain management in the new information (or knowledge) economy. In essence, it stresses that new information and communications technologies enable instant communication and networking, and facilitate timely data-sharing and exchange, leading to the transformation of traditional organizations into those that are highly information-based. Examples of e-business and supply chain management are provided, as well as two case studies of Internet-based construction process innovation. In particular, the design and construction process is examined to identify areas for developing process models. Focusing on achieving design and construction process integration over the life cycle of a project, the requirements for change in the construction industry are highlighted. The applications of 3D/4D models are cited as examples, showing the different areas where they can be applied to derive benefits. Building Information Models (BIM) are introduced in the later part of the chapter as an approach that enables dramatic process improvement and innovation. The key concepts of BIM are covered, including research insights into the scope of BIM use, barriers to BIM use, and effects from BIM use. Process improvements as a result of adopting BIM for the purpose of data integration, systems integration, or collaborative working are discussed in both contexts of intra- and inter-organizational use. Illustrations are provided for the three different purposes. Recent developments in BIM are reviewed to present the current state of BIM implementation in the construction industry. The chapter concludes with a summary of the main points covered on BPR.

Implementation of business education in the world of education is very important. However, many theories and teaching monotonous nature led to the knowledge of the business is difficult to be well understood. Thus, to introduce supply chain management as the business processes of an enterprise, it takes a learning method that is more innovative and creative as well as promoting business practices. One method of teaching that can address these problems is with education game business simulation genre. Chocorillo: The Lost Recipes is an educational game that teaches the business of business learning, especially concerning supply chain management which is packed with gameplay that is fun and exciting game story. This game there are 29 characters that the player can interact with them, doing quests from them, and resolve social problems that occur. The creation of this work is expected to generate business educational game that can provide learning effects without compromising the beauty aspect of the graphics so players do not get bored easily in use.Keywords: Android, game edukasi, bisnis, unity, supply chain management. AbstrakPenerapan pendidikan bisnis dalam dunia pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting. Akan tetapi, banyaknya teori dan sifat pengajaran yang monoton menyebabkan pengetahuan akan bisnis sulit untuk dipahami dengan baik. Dengan demikian, untuk memperkenalkan supply chain management sebagai proses bisnis suatu perusahaan, dibutuhkan sebuah metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan kreatif serta mengedepankan praktik dalam bisnis. Salah satu metode pengajaran yang dapat menjawab permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan game edukasi bisnis bergenre simulasi. Chocorillo: The Lost Recipes merupakan game edukasi bisnis yang mengajarkan pembelajaran bisnis khususnya tentang supply chain management yang dikemas dengan gameplay yang menyenangkan dan game story yang menarik. Game ini terdapat 29 karakter yang pemain dapat berinteraksi dengan mereka, mengerjakan quest dari mereka, dan menyelesaikan permasalahan sosial yang terjadi. Penciptaan karya ini diharapkan dapat menghasilkan game edukasi bisnis yang dapat memberikan efek pembelajaran tanpa mengurangi aspek keindahan grafis sehingga pemain tidak mudah bosan dalam menggunakannya.Kata kunci: Android, game edukasi, bisnis, unity, supply chain management

This article offers a framework for understanding all types of enterprise applications that support the supply chain. In this study, the authors organize these applications, define acronyms, and describe the various types of systems that make up an information infrastructure for supply chain management.

Recent advances in supply chain management information systems (SCM IS) have enabled firms to more fully collaborate with their supply chain partners — driving out costs while increasing responsiveness to market demands. This chapter examines various types of SCM IS — from traditional EDI systems to more recent Web-services-based e-business applications. It argues that the approach best suited for an organization depends in part on the degree of integration between the partners, the complexity of the business processes, and the number of partners involved. A model is presented for analyzing the costs and benefits that can be expected from each type of SCM IS. The model enables researchers and practitioners to better understand the differences among SCM IS and thus can help reduce the risks of implementing these valuable yet complex information systems.
