Cloud Computing is a distributed architecture that centralizes server resources on a scalable platform so as to provide on demand computing resources and services. Cloud computing has become a variable platform for companies to build their infrastructures upon. If companies are to consider taking advantage of cloud based systems, they will be faced with the task of seriously re-assessing their current security strategy, as well as the cloud-specific aspects that need to be assessed. The evolution of modern computing systems has lead to the emergence of Cloud computing. Cloud computing facilitates on-demand establishment of dynamic, large scale, flexible, and highly scalable computing infrastructures. However, as with any other emerging technology, security underpins widespread adoption of Cloud computing. This paper presents the state-of-the-art about Cloud computing along with its different deployment models. The authors also describe various security challenges that can affect an organization’s decision to adopt Cloud computing. Finally, the authors list recommendations to mitigate with these challenges. Such review of state-of-the-art about Cloud computing security can serve as a useful barometer for an organization to make an informed decision about Cloud computing adoption.

In recent years, cloud computing has developed from the promising business concept that it used to be, to one of Information Technology (IT) industry's most developing section. Now that the world economy was hit by recession, the victims of this tragedy continually understand that by just outsourcing or tapping the cloud  resources, a package of virtualise, elastic, instant on-demand provision, and scalable; infrastructure, platform, and software can be access fast and easy inform of services at a negligible amount via the internet. However, as individuals and organizations embarked on the course of deploying their information and data into the cloud, anxieties are beginning to develop on whether the cloud environment is safe. This research provides an overview of the cloud deployment model, the services they offer and discusses the security issues and challenges of cloud computing in both data storage and virtual applications/servers.

The concept of Cloud Computing has been distinguished as one of the major computing models in recent years. Cloud computing has become a great innovation that has important consequences not just for services on the internet but also for the entire Information technology (IT) market. Its emergence aims to optimize on-demand technology, hardware and information provisioning as a service, reaching the economy of scale in the distribution and operation of IT strategies. A great deal of cloud computing research has been concerned over some obstacles and challenges that rely upon behind the lure of cloud computing. Security has been always raised as one of the most critical issues of cloud computing where resolving such an issue would result in constant growth in the use and popularity of the cloud. Security requirements represent a major issue that has to be met in order of easing some of these obstacles. This article presents the role of cloud computing in the IT sectors.

Purpose – In recent years, a large number of organizations have found that cloud computing has many advantages leading to a surge in its adoption. Design/methodology/approach – Cloud computing involves the usage of large servers for the access of data, its storage and manipulation as well as provisioning of other services. Findings – When infrastructure, applications, data and storage are hosted by cloud providers, there are huge security risks associated with each type of service offered. Originality/value – There are a number of considerations, apart from cost which must be evaluated before choosing any particular provider. Sometimes, the physical location of the servers may also be a factor to consider, if sensitive duty is involved.
