Smartphone development has opened the door to many future business opportunities. Many smartphone manufacturers in Taiwan have received orders from large international companies (mainly as OEMs or ODMs), while only few manufacturers have developed their own brands. If the authors can provide these enterprises with an effective decision-making strategy, they will be able to make the best decisions in time. The purpose of this paper is to take critical success factors (CSFs) and the existing internal capabilities of an enterprise in an external environment into account to build an operational model guide that enterprise in its decision making process. This study combined the Delphi method and the analytic network process (ANP) model to construct a decision model, calculate the weighting of every criterion and sub-criterion, and determine the optimal decision-making strategy in the smartphone industry. Then, the authors chose the HTC Corporation as a case study. The results showed that the development trend of the smartphone industry was the integration of mobile phones. The strategy of excellent functions strategy is the optimal strategy for the implementation of the alternatives.

With the huge proliferation of Big Data, combined with the increasing demand for analytics-driven decision-making, the data analytics and visualization (DAV) ecosystem is increasingly becoming a trending practice that many enterprises are adopting to gain actionable insights from corporate data for effective decision-making. Although DAV platforms have tremendous benefits, extant research has paid insufficient attention to the investigation of the critical success factors (CSFs) underpinning their successful implementation in enterprises. In order to bridge this knowledge gap, this study presents an integrative framework synthesizing a set of CSFs for implementing DAV platforms in enterprises. A qualitative research methodology, comprising semi-structured interviews with IT and business analysts, was conducted to collect and analyze the interview data. Analysis of results revealed that the CSFs of DAV implementation exist in various dimensions composed of organizational, technological, process, and people perspectives. This study provides several theoretical and practical implications.

Shipping, which is one of the most important transport modes, plays a significant role in international trade, but unfortunately, it also contributes significantly to global emissions. The present study proposes a generic method for establishing a system of evaluation criteria for assessing the greenness of shipping. A system of evaluation criteria that consists of multiple influence factors has been established, and an Analytic Network Process has been used to determine the relative importance of the influential factors and to consider their interdependences and interactions. The results can help stakeholders draft strategic measures that enhance the greenness of the shipping activities.

The dynamic and uncertain demand forces organizations to provide flexible services in order to fulfill customer demands. Freight transportation, being the key component of the businesses, requires adoption of efficient Information and Communication Technologies which can induce transparent and flexible services. Blockchain Technology (BT) is an emerging technology which has great potential to cater solutions to freight transportation issues. This study identifies different critical success factors of BT adoption in freight transportation. An integrated Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) is applied to prioritize identified success factors. Further, modified Total Interpretive Structural Modeling (mTISM) is used to represent the interrelationship among different sub-factors. The findings of the study revealed Development Aspects, Customer Services and Technological Aspects as well as Data Transparency, Reliability and Organizational Culture as the most significant factors and sub-factors, respectively. The proposed model will guide freight transport managers to formulate their strategies regarding BT adoption.

Digital publishing technology (DPT) has been recognized as one of the most important technologies for economic development. The purpose of the study is to develop an evaluation model based on analytic network process (ANP) approach to explore the critical success factors (CSFs) for the successful implementation of DPT. It can objectively identify related criteria of DPT, and then prioritize improvement criteria to the success of promoting DPT for government. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach, the Taiwan’s DPT is conducted. The results of this study could serve as a new method and offer insights to policy makers to indentify and prioritize CSFs for DPT implementations systematically.

Lecturers at a university are one of the main components in a university education system. And lecturer certification is very important to improve the performance of the lecturer. Here we analyze the determination of lecturer certification candidates and How to determine the Candidates for Lecturer Certification Participants, using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method can assist in optimal decision making. Decision Support System is used by several people as a sample to describe decision making in an organization. And it is known that by using Analytical Network Process it is very helpful to optimize the lecturers who are most eligible for certification.

Population growth and increasing trend towards urbanization have caused housing demand to exceed its supply, particularly in urban areas in developing countries. Furthermore, housing industry motivates many subsidiary industries and plays a leading socio-economic role in such countries. Therefore, successful completion of housing projects is of great significance quantitatively and qualitatively.This study aims to propose a framework to evaluate the critical success factors (CSFs) in housing projects considering the interrelationship among factors and criteria. The factors were initially identified through literature review and then refined and categorized using a two-round Delphi method and finally prioritized using fuzzy analytic network process (FANP). To demonstrate the implementation of the proposed model, a case study was carried out on an urban residential building project in Tehran. The framework proposed in this study can be applied as a decision support system for decision makers, project managers and practitioners involved in the housing sector.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to generate awareness of contributions made by benchmarking toward building performance of Indian service industries in globally market. Ranking of Benchmarking is done on the basis of their application which give confidence for the managers to adopt in their Industries so that they may become best in their field. Design/methodology/approach Methodology consists of three phase: define, phase include definitions, factors of benchmarking as literature outcomes, questionnaire survey and outcome of survey. In the second phase, analysis of collected data and applications of multi-criteria decision-making approaches [technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and analytical network process (ANP)] are used. The last phase includes comparison of results which gives validation in similarities of ranking obtained. Findings The study identifies seven different benchmarking techniques used for service industries. Using TOPSIS and ANP approaches shows similarity that external benchmarking, performance benchmarking and internal benchmarking are the first three ranks that give basis for several critical success factors s, namely, planning, reliability, standardization, time behavior, usability, etc., as part of benchmarking using in service industries. Research limitations/implications The limitation is the assumptions made by multi-criteria decision-making approaches which may effect the analysis of the study as these are taken theoretically. Originality/value This study is a first attempt to find similarities in both techniques while comparing benchmarking in Indian service industries.

Endurance is one of the fastest growing equestrian disciplines worldwide. Races are long distance competitions (40-160 km), organised into loops, over variable terrain usually within one day. Horse and rider combinations in endurance races have to complete the course in good condition whilst also aiming to win. Horse welfare is paramount within the sport and horses are required to ‘pass’ a veterinary check prior to racing, after each loop of the course and at the end of the race. Despite the health, fitness and welfare of both athletes within the horse-rider dyad being essential to achieve success, few equivalent measures assessing the wellbeing of the endurance rider are implemented. This review considers evidence from ultra-endurance sports and rider performance in other equestrian disciplines, to consider physiological and psychological strategies the endurance rider could use to enhance their competition performance. Successful endurance riding requires an effective partnership to be established between horse and rider. Within this partnership, adequate rider health and fitness are key to optimal decision-making to manage the horse effectively during training and competition, but just as importantly riders should manage themselves as an athlete. Targeted management for superior rider performance can underpin more effective decision-making promoting ethical equitation practices and optimising competition performance. Therefore, the responsible and competitive endurance rider needs to consider how they prepare themselves adequately for participation in the sport. This should include engaging in appropriate physiological training for fitness and musculoskeletal strength and conditioning. Alongside planning nutritional strategies to support rider performance in training and within the pre-, peri- and post-competition periods to promote superior physical and cognitive performance, and prevent injury. By applying an evidence informed approach to self-management, the endurance athlete will support the horse and rider partnership to achieve to their optimal capacity, whilst maximising both parties physical and psychological wellbeing.
