This paper presents the conceptual design of fuel injector based on giant magnetostrictive material, with displacement amplification mechanism. The permissible emission level EURO norms become stricter in case of fuel injection technology of modern combustion engine. The magnetic circuit of the magnetostrictive fuel injector is analyzed using finite element method. Based on the structure and working principle of our magnetostrictive fuel injector (MFI), the properties of driving magnetic field are researched.

A novel fuel atomization device (Nanomiser™) was evaluated under laboratory conditions with respect to its ability to reduce SI engine cold-start hydrocarbon emissions. First, comparisons between the level of atomization using the conventional, pintle-type fuel injector and the novel atomizer were carried out using flow visualization in a spray chamber and particle size distribution. The novel atomizer is capable of producing sub-micron fuel droplets, which form an ultra-fine mist with outstanding non-wetting characteristics. To capitalize on these atomization characteristics, this device was compared to a conventional fuel injector in a small, two-cylinder, SI engine under a number of operating conditions. Results show a slightly enhanced combustion quality and lean limit under warm operating conditions and a dramatic reduction in unburned HC emission under cold operating conditions, with cold emissions with the Nanomiser™ matching those with a conventional injector under fully warm conditions.

Design of magnetic circuit is the key for disk MRF brake and has an important effect on brake torque per unit mass. In this paper structure and working principle of disk MRF brake are introduced, and magnetic circuit is designed by using engineering magnetic field method, and main technologies are introduced in detail, and its magnetic field is analyzed based on finite element method. This is benefit for structure optimization of the magnetic circuit. The feather of the magnetic circuit is received by numerical analysis method, and magnetic saturation and leakage phenomenon are found at the circuit, and these problems should be paid attention especially.

Introducing a fuel injector is a systems for explaining fuel keep on interior combustion engine and also in the automatically engine based vehicles for this procedure need diesel engine is a necessity while using petrol engines fuel injector is an different to the carburettor, mainly this work is used in spray nozzle may be this process of a fuel comes output cars consume. Biodiesel may produce the chemical function called Tran's esterification from the vegetable oil or animal fact oil glycerine should be removed this kind of the procedure may create two chemical reaction named as methyl ester and glycerine. Biodiesel is namely called as diesel fuel it has the pure form (B100) or blended with petroleum diesel. For many kind of the cars are mechanism in internal combustion (IC) the issues expend Sequential Fuel Injector (SFI) is similar called as timed injection it can remain generates. When the subsequent intake control device unlocks individually, nozzle self-sufficient and be the consumption regulator unties.

The primary function of an electronic control unit (ECU) of an engine is to calculate the amount of fuel to be delivered into the combustion chamber. The injection duration and duty cycle of the injector will be based on several sensors whose signals the ECU will process to ensure the best engine running condition. However, to study new injection and combustion strategies, where such operation is unavailable in standard ECU, a custom-built fuel injection control system need to be made. This paper describes the development of a fuel injector signal controller, which is being used for internal combustion engine experiment or for the evaluation of any fuel injector static flow rate. Herewith a new term Injector-Volume Ratio (IVR) was introduced to assist the development process. Using the custom-built fuel injection controller, the static flow rate of an injector for a single cylinder 125cc motorcycle engine was determined in accordance to SAEJ1832. From the experiment, the IVR value is proven useful in choosing the right size of a fuel injector to fit any specified engine displacement of a spark ignition engine.

A theoretical magnetic field intensity model within giant magnetostrictive material was presented. This model was established just like the reluctance model, while could describe the non-uniform distribution flexibly for its integral form. This model employed magnetic circuit theorem calculating the mean of the magnetic field, while used a normalized function describing the distributing character. The distributing function was determined by Biot–Savart law and relative permeability of the material. The model was validated with the help of the experimental device. At last, the fitting degree of the model with the tested results in predicting the performance of the actuator is researched.
