The ecological residence is served as the major development direction of urban residence construction. Moreover, it has important significance in goals such as urban ecological environment protection, the enhancement of residence environment quality, the realization of sustainable development for urban residence. It is important content which needs to be further researched in terms of the current residence planning construction. This paper will illustrate the notion feature of ecological residence and it revolves around the basic view of ecology. Furthermore, it also examines many aspects of ecological design in terms of residence environment. In the meanwhile, it put forward related implementation suggestions therefore it is hoped to become the beneficial consideration in promoting the healthy development of ecological residence.

Long-term improvement of ecological environment quality (EEQ) is a hotspot and urgent topic in the context of high-quality and sustainable development. It is urgent to look for methods that could support EEQ improvement in a high-quality and sustainable way. Owing to its natural supporting and guaranteeing functions for enhancing quality, quality infrastructure (QI) is a fundamental and critical element in promoting EEQ, but a neglected one. In this paper, we analyzed the coupling structure between QI and EEQ and applied an improved coupling model to recognize contributed and weakened indicators that affected the coupling relationship. We also examined this coupling relationship in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) from 2012 to 2017, which proved the current situation where QI construction cannot satisfy the practical needs of EEQ improvement. Results showed that the important supporting role of QI in EEQ improvement should be valued for long-term sustainable development. Meanwhile, equilibrium and consistency of indicators in the QI and EEQ systems determined the coupling state. EEQ improvement countermeasures were also provided according to the coupling relationship analysis results. This study provided a scientific basis and guidance for EEQ improvement and sustainable development.

Architectural ecological design is not merely a simple method of architectural design, but a technique and measure of protecting the ecological environment, developing ecological economy and culture, emphasizing sustainable development. Based on the measures of ecological design of function, organization, layout, utilization of natural light, and implementation of natural ventilation, reducing of noise of single building, the application and implementation of ecological design for single building are analyzed, which provides a reference for other projects.

Mature resource-dependent cities as resource security base, is an important guarantee for the sustained and healthy development of China's economy. But with the increasing economic and natural consumption, promoting transformation of these cities is already becoming the objective of sustainable development. Mature resource-dependent cities in Shanxi province are facing many matters, such as low energy efficiency, high dependence and low added value, fragile ecological environment and other issues. Therefore we should take efficient use of energy, promote energy base construction, optimize industrial structure, improve the technical level, better the ecological environment and use other measures to promote industrial restructuring and upgrading to achieve the goal of sustainable development.

With the development of industry, water pollution is increasingly severe. The research and development of oil-absorbing materials plays an important role in solving the ecological environment protection. Various oil-absorbing materials are introduced. Then, the new oil-absorbing materials are introduced mainly, including classification, production methods, oil-absorbing mechanism and properties. The limitations of the new oil-absorbing materials are pointed. And the development direction of oil-absorbing materials should be toward the high efficiency, low-cost, environmentally friendly and biodegradable.

With analyzing the rural ecological environment protection status and pollution sources of Bengbu City, the problems in the rural environmental protection work will be pointed out, including the out-dated regulatory regime, poor implementation of environmental policy, low motivation of environmental protection and other major issues. With applying ecological planning thoughts, advice including village eco-positioning and ecological agriculture development for rural planning will be proposed. For the environmental protection measures, relative suggestions such as increasing the effective monitoring of rural environment; strengthening the infrastructure construction, promoting clean production efforts and innovating market-oriented means of propaganda will be put forward to achieve rural sustainable development.

Many ecological environment problems appeared in Chinese characteristic rural areas, such as living environment pollution, arable land area decrease, declining social fertility and rural industrial pollution. Based upon the analysis and induction of these problems, this article puts forward relative strategies on ecological environment protection and sustainable development, including constructing regional ecological landscape structure, promoting ecological agriculture, improving the rural infrastructure, developing the rural tourism, strengthening rural enterprises management, improving rural dwellers environmental awareness level and so on. Industrial design is supposed to lay more emphasis on functions of products and requirement of their appearance, to select more suitable materials, design their structure and pattern and establish their combination means. For the time being, study on the environment material has been penetrated into all fields of the industrial design. The environment material is of great advantage in terms of effective usage of resources and energy and reduction on the environmental capacity and it is an important development direction for realizing sustainable development of material industry. Thus, it has become a necessary trend of development of the design industry to conduct green design under the attack of the global tide of environmental protection.
