The product design can not just stay on the surface of the form, but should be based on extensive scientific perspective and a more rigorous research methods to interpret and interpretation. Like other disciplines, Kansei engineering to some extent, as a continuation of ergonomics, and gradually improve and expand ergonomics theory and method to make it continue to develop and improve, so rational use of ergonomics and Kansei Engineering related methods to support the industrial design of the unconscious a scientific way. Based on Kansei engineering concepts and research status correlation analysis, and Kansei engineering and ergonomics relations were discussed, and finally by way of example confirms the Kansei engineering to industry influence, Kansei engineering approach just for today is designed to provide a scientific, theoretical design approach, with its unique sense of pleasure brought to guide industrial design more scientific and comprehensive study.

What this paper studies is based on the attention people pay to the life and health, the medical industry development affects the consumption behavior of people, while consumption guides the product design of the medical-caring bed. With the method of perceptual engineering science, analyzing the perceptual characteristics of household medical-caring bed in actual cases and the emotional appeal of consumers to medical-caring bed, setting up the relational model between the perceptual image and appearance design of the medical-caring bed and providing the sample of the application of the perceptual technology in product design, which have certain reference value of the design of similar products.

Emotional design is one of the most important methods in modern product design. It was highlighted after Donald A. Norman published his book Emotional design: why we love (or hate) everyday things. Emotional design addresses people’s needs and hopes which is in the center of the development of product design and product technology. Due to the lack of strong theoretical basis and quantitative analysis, many products can’t reach the goal of their designers with Emotional feelings, nor can consumer’s emotional understandings be similar to the designers’ emotional expectations. This paper analyzes the concept of emotional design and some difficulties which designers must to be faced in their emotional designing works, discusses on product shape design according to emotional design. On this basis, the Kansei engineering and emotional design methods are described in details.

This report describes the industrial design and human engineering of a sit-down lift truck for narrow aisle warehouse materials handling applications. The objective of the design program was to develop a truck which would be (1) safe, efficient and comfortable to operate; (2) aesthetically appealing; (3) economical to manufacture and use; and (4) easy to maintain and service. A working mockup was constructed to demonstrate the feasibility of the engineering approach, and to validate human engineering, maintainability and safety provisions. Field use under varying conditions has confirmed that the concept of a seated position for the operator of a narrow aisle lift truck was a sound solution for reducing fatigue with no sacrifice in operator effectiveness.

Based on users’ kansei image and kansei engineering theory, a method on product bionics form design is presented. Firstly, users’ kansei information about product and bionics objects is extracted from semantic differential method, which is the basic standard for determination of the best bionics object. Then by adopting clustering analysis and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the product form features and bionics objects’ main features are acquired and combined to design products. Finally, the optimal design is selected through comprehensive evaluation. As an example, case of intelligent electric rice cooker design indecates that this method is valid and practical.
