In order to study failure mechanism of the transmission tower caused by longitudinal tensions under icing conditions, with the model of # 43 cup-tower in 500kV Warsaw I line accident segment as for example and the software of large general-purpose finite element analysis, respectively, this paper analyzed their failure characteristics under three conditions that is non-uniform ice-coating, asynchronous ice-shedding and excessive icing, obtaining weak locations. The results will provide reference for the designing work of this type towers in transmission line which is auto-ice designing, enhancement, enforcement, transformation and reconstruction.

In order to research the work status of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire software was adopted on establishing the three dimensions model of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler. ANSYS software was adopted on strength finite element analysis of steel package rotation table beam and tumbler under carrying 370 tons liquid steel package. Relative displacement figure, stress figure and strain figure were obtained. Relative distribution rules of displacement, stress and strain were found. Strain and stress on key positions of steel package rotation table beam were tested and analyzed. The relative error between tested value and finite element numerical simulation results of strain and stress on steel package rotation table beam was computed and analyzed. The method of combining finite element numerical simulation and test research provides important reference basis on the improvement of steel package rotation table.

Put the finite element analysis of line tower coupling modeling to the collapse of a 110 kV line straight-line tower, study the effect of strong wind on transmission tower and wire. The results show that under the action of strong wind, the material specification selected by the part of the rods on the type of tower is lower, cross section is smaller, the principal material of tower will be instable and flexional under the compression, resulting in tower collapsed.

Vibration results from situation when the inherent frequency close to the external exciting force during the operation of the motor, so accurate and effective calculation of the natural frequency of the motor has an important significance to damping noise. By numerical simulation model and the ANSYS finite element modal, the inherent frequencies were got of the motor and comparison results verify the effectiveness of the motor model. The effect of the modulus of elasticity of the softening layer between the motor and the ground to the inherent frequency was researched intensively, and puts forward related suggestions.

A dynamic finite element analysis model for cylindrical roller bearing is developed, and the complex stress distribution and dynamic contacting nature of the bearing are investigated carefully based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Numerical simulation results show that the stress would be bigger when the element contacting with the inner or outer ring than at other times, and the biggest stress would appear near the area that roller contacting with the inner ring. Phenomenon of stress concentration on the roller is found to be very obvious during the operating process of the bearing system. The stress distributions of different elements are uneven on the same side surface of roller in its axis direction. Numerical simulation results can give useful references for the design and analysis of rolling bearing.

Abstract This paper deals with conceptual orientation and system development of intelligent support system for general purpose FEA (finite element analysis) programs. An integrated support system called “InhierTalk” (Integrated interactive environment for hierarchical representation for FEA) has been developed in Smalltalk, an object oriented language, in order to confirm effectivity of hierarchical representation and to establish an optimum method of the system development. Two object-oriented knowledge models which consist of macro visual data representation and micro regularized data representation are proposed. In the development, it is found to be clear that active and passive evaluation methods are effective for construction of support system.

The multi-stage boom consisting of several booms is used in order to develop the aerial platform truck that can be used in a working radius that is higher and safe. Because the length increases compared with the width or the height of the structure, the intensity and rigidity are lowered along with the safety. Accordingly, a countermeasure is needed. Therefore, in this research, when designing of the high ground work difference Boom System, the safety the stress of the considered boom the analyze method and experimental method tries to be evaluated through the comparison. The finite-element analysis(FEA) compared the Strain value which is obtained through the resolution value and actual experiment by using the Ansys, that is the general purpose program, and proved this safety.

AbstractThe buckling and layer failure characteristics of composite laminated cylinders subjected to hydrostatic pressure were investigated through finite element analysis for underwater vehicle application. The Tsai-Wu failure criteria were used as the failure criteria for the buckling analysis. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to research the influence of the number of elements on the critical buckling pressure. ANSYS, a finite element program, successfully predicted the buckling pressure with 5.3–27.8% (linear) and 0.3–22.5% (nonlinear) deviation from experimental results. The analysis results showed that the cylinders can carry more pressure after a slight decrease in pressure and recovery of the supporting load. For layer failure analysis, it was found that the failure that occurred in the 0° layer was more serious than that in the 90° layer within the neighboring layers at the inner layers (nos. 1–7) and outer layers (nos. 8–24).
