Abstract This paper adopts an embodied cognitive perspective to review the significance of dynamic patterns in the visual expression of meaning. Drawing upon the work of Rudolf Arnheim we first show how perceptual dynamics of inanimate objects might be extended in order to structure abstract meaning in fixed images such as paintings. Second, we evaluate existing experimental work that shows how simple kinematic structures within a stationary frame might embody such high-level properties as perceptual causality and animacy. Third and last, we take inspiration from these experiments to shed light on the expressiveness of dynamic patterns that unfold once the frame itself becomes a mobile entity (i.e., camera movement). In the latter case we will also present a filmic case study, showing how filmmakers might resort to these dynamic patterns so as to embody a film’s story content, while simultaneously offering a further avenue for film scholars to deepen their engagement with the experimental method.

This study aims to determine the differences between student learning outcomes taught by applying the STAD learning model and the NHT learning model in social science subjects, Class VIII. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tompaso using an experimental method with two treatments and two experimental classes, one class using the STAD learning model and one class using the NHT learning model which was taken randomly. The variables in this study are: (i) student learning outcomes obtained using the STAD learning model (X1) and (ii) student learning outcomes obtained using the NHT learning model (X2). Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics followed by t-test mean difference. The results showed that the STAD and NHT learning models can (i) increase the average student learning outcomes, namely 84.46 for STAD and 85.00 for NHT and (ii) increase the percentage of students who have scored to meet the MCC, namely 96.4 % for STAD and 92.90% for NHT. The average student learning outcomes are not significantly different between the STAD and NHT learning models. Both of these learning models are suitable for use in social science subjects of class VIII

The objective of the article is to evaluate the existence of consonance between the choice of graduates in the area of management and business among the Humboldtian (German) and Napoleonic (French) higher education models and the training required by firms in the hiring process. For undergraduate students, through electronic questionnaires, 281 responses were collected from 06 higher education institutions. For the managers of the human resources area, through the quasi-experimental method, 45 participations were obtained. The analyzes concluded that the majority of students prefer teaching based on the Humboldtian model, while companies prefer students of this model for strategic level vacancies; and students from the Napoleonic model for the operational ones. Operational vacancies predominate in the offer over strategic ones.

An experimental method was developed to determine losses in microstrip and coplanar transmission lines for devices operating in the frequency range 77 - 81 GHz. The parameters of the scattering matrices are obtained using a vector network analyzer and frequency upconverters. The calculation of losses in waveguide-coplanar and coplanar-microstrip junctions is made.

Abstract Determining the slope slip surface is difficult, prominent and uncertain. Slip-surface are utilized to estimate slope safety. This study aimed at investigating the slip surface caused by statistical loads by using experimental testing methods. The experimental method was conducted by providing a statistical load on the sand slope The load was used until the slope collapsed. Sand slopes were modeled in a glass box measuring 110 cm x 40 cm x 10 cm. The sand material used was sand that passed through sieve no.10 and was held by sieve no. 200. At a distance of 2.5 cm horizontally and at a distance of 5 cm vertically, colored marks were used to see the pattern of grain movement. Observations were conducted until the slope collapsed. The collapse pattern revealed in the experimental method is non-circular.
