Polyaspartic acid (PASP) and a copolymer (AA) of acrylic acid and acrylicester were synthesized. A ternary composite (PASP-AA-DTPMP) was made from PASP, AA and DTPMP. The performances of ternary composite were studied by using static scale inhibition and weight loss of rotating hung steel slices test. When the concentration of ternary composite was 6mg/L, the scale inhibition rate reached 95% and the corrosion inhibition rate reached 97.9%. The results showed that the ternary composite had good scale and corrosion inhibiton performance and was suitable for high temperature and hardness circulating cooling water system.

Static and dynamic experiments were used to evaluate scale inhibition performance of modified polyaspartic acid (PASP-ASP). The static experiments showed that the PASP-ASP had good scale inhibition performance and the scale inhibition rate exceeded 98% when the PASP-ASP was 2 mg·L-1 and the solution temperature was 40 OC. In the dynamic experiments, almost no scale was formed on the heat transfer surface and the fouling thermal resistance decreases extraordinarily with PASP-ASP treatment experiment compared with the experiment without treatment. The PASP-ASP could be used in industrial cooling water systems.

Abstract: The corrosion resistance of brass H70-1A cooling water was studied through weight-loss method and electrochemistry measurement in different concentration ratio condition. The results obtained from this study showed that brass inhibitor was necessary to add to circulating cooling water system when concentration ratio was in the range of 3~7.

Static and dynamic experiments were used to evaluate scale inhibition performance of polyaspartic acid derivative (PASP-SEA-ASP). The static experiments showed that the PASP-SEA-ASP had good scale inhibition performance and the scale inhibition rate exceeded 80% when the PASP-SEA-ASP was 2 mg•L-1 and the solution temperature was 40 OC. In the dynamic experiments, almost no scale formed on the heat transfer surface and the fouling thermal resistance decreases extraordinarily with PASP-SEA-ASP treatment experiment compared with the experiment without treatment. The PASP-SEA-ASP could be used in industrial cooling water systems.

Secondary effluent of sewage treatment plant directly reused in power plant circulating cooling water system was the main cause of scale inhibition in the system.Facing this serious scaling problem, static scale inhibition experiment was carried out to filter out the efficient compound formulation.Corrosion inhibition performance by rotary coupon experiment was studied.Scale and corrosion inhibition effect under the field condition by homemade dynamic simulation experiment and the environment toxicity were tested. The result showed that this water treatment agent gain the high scale and corrosion inhibition effect, with low phosphorus,non-toxic,friendly to environment.

This work investigated the effect of magnesium ion concentration on the formation of mineral scale in circulating cooling water under alternating electric field treatment (AEFT) by using a self-made power plant circulating cooling water simulator. In this experiment, the circulating cooling water used was artificial hard water. Three experimental groups with different magnesium ion concentrations and three corresponding control groups were studied. Scale inhibition rate, fouling resistance, calcium ion concentration, crystal phase, and crystal morphology were discussed. Results showed that 4 mmol/L magnesium chloride promoted the formation of scale on the copper tube wall, and the average scale inhibition rate was −107.86%. When the magnesium chloride concentration was 6 mmol/L, the situation was reversed, and the average scale inhibition rate reached 59.11%. The changes in calcium ion concentration supported the scale inhibition rate. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) photos showed the change in the composition of calcium carbonate crystals. The results showed that the effect of AEFT on fouling resistance is nonlinearly related to the concentration of magnesium ions in circulating cooling water.

The scale-inhibition effect of electromagnetic field was tested on circulating cooling water of power plant, and then the scale sample was analyzed by SEM and XRD. The results showed that, under optimum scale-inhibition conditions, aragonite content increased and calcite content decreased, and scale-inhibition rate was up to 78.2%; under the poorest conditions, both aragonite and calcite crystals existed, and the scale-inhibition rate was-201.0%; after treating with electromagnetic field, size of both calcite and aragonite particles decreased, making them more easily flown away and thus showing better overall scale-inhibition effect; when energy provided by the electromagnetic field was more than the decrease in free energy of the system, extra energy turns the calcite CaCO3 into other forms of metastable crystalline phases, then content of different crystalline phases is changed in favor of scale inhibition.

A copolymer was prepared from itaconic acid (IA) and sodium allysulfonate (SAS). The structure of the IA/SAS copolymer was characterized by the means of FTIR. The performances of scale inhibition, dispersion and biodegradability of the IA/SAS copolymer were studied. The results showed that the IA/SAS copolymer had good scale inhibition and dispersing performance. The scale inhibition rate on calcium carbonate was 93% when the copolymer was 20 mg·L-1. The scale inhibition rate on calcium phosphate was 92% when the copolymer was 24 mg·L-1. The copolymer had good biodegradation performance and biodegradation rate could reach 69.5% after 28 days.

An environment-friendly and multifunctional agent for industry circulation cooling water, polyaspartic acid derivatives with dihydroxyl group(DHPAP) was synthesized in aqueous solution. The FTIR spectrum of DHPAP was analyzed. Static experiments were carried out to validate scale inhibition performance of DHPAP. The scale inhibition ratios exceed 90% when 8 and 10 mg/L DHPAP under solution temperatures of 80 and 60°C, respectively. The scale inhibition ratios increase by increasing the DHPAP concentration with 6 and 8 mg/L under heating times of 10 and 6h, respectively. And the scale inhibition ratios are over 90%.
