Torque ripple and resulted acoustic noise and vibration are the main disadvantages of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives. In this study, One-Cycle Control (OCC) is developed for current regulation of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive as a unified constant-frequency integration control strategy. Employing one-cycle control strategy reduces high frequency torque ripple of conventional hysteresis current controllers leading to lower acoustic noise and vibration in the drive. To enhance reliability and reducing drive cost, an improved rotor position estimation technique is implemented. OCC strategy and sensorless method are realized using a low-cost general-purpose AVR microcontroller (Atmega8). It is shown that torque ripple, acoustic noise and vibration are reduced via OCC method comparing to conventional hysteresis control strategy. Computer simulations and experimental results with a 375W, 16 poles BLDC motor, demonstrate improved behavior of developed sensorless BLDC drive operation.

This paper proposes the implementation of simple boost circuit incorporated in inverter fed Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive to boost the performance of torque. BLDC motor becoming subtle because of its performance. But the motor performance is inferior due to the voltage source inverter fed operation of BLDC motor which initiates torque ripple during commutation. Here the usage of Switched Boost Inverter (SBI) which minimizes the storage elements (passive elements), more active element and introduces shoot through mode during commutation as like Z-source inverter.  The analyses of three phase switched boost inverter fed BLDC motor drive have been carried out. The performance of torque almost depends on the stator phase current of the motor. In BLDC motor during commutation interval, one phase loss its exact stator phase current hence it instigate ripple on the torque. The proposed method focuses two intentions to reduce the torque ripple. The first intension is to operate the BLDC motor at 180<sup>ᵒ</sup> electrical conduction mode, second intension is to introduce the shoot through interval to boost the dc link voltage so as to maintain the stator phase current control which leads to suppress the torque ripple during commutation.  The validation of the proposed SBI based BLDC motor control is demonstrated both by MATLAB/Simulink and Field programmable gate array (FPGA) controller-SPARRTAN III processor. The experimental results of the developed SBI based BLDC motor drive is working over a wide speed range with minimal torque ripple compared to the normal PWM based inverter control.

In large and small scale applications, different kinds of variable speed driving systems can be found. For saving the energy consumption of these devices, eco-friendly electronics are used, which lead to the development of the Brushless DC motor (BLDC). Its higher power density, higher efficiency, higher torque at low speed, and low maintenance enhances the use of a BLDC motor. The existing mixer grinder consists of the universal motor, which operates in alternating current supply due to high starting torque characteristics and simple controlling of the speed. The absence of brushes and the reduction of noise in the BLDC extends its life and makes it ideal in a mixer grinder. A solar-powered BLDC motor drive for a mixer grinder is presented in this paper. A DC-DC buck converter is utilized to operate the PV (photovoltaic) array at its maximum power. The proposed hysteresis current control BLDC system has been developed in the MATLAB. The commercially available mixer grinder is presented along with the proposed simulated system for performance comparison. It can be concluded that at the no load condition, the efficiency of the experimental existing mixer grinder is 51.03% and simulated proposed system is 81.25% and at load condition, the efficiency of the experimental mixer grinder is 49.32% and simulated system is 79.85%.

<p>In this paper, a new Buck PFC dc–dc converter topology along with fuzzy logic control for a permanent magnet (PM) brushless dc motor (PMBLDCM) has been proposed. The proposed buck-PFC converter topology is on single stage power factor correction converter. A concept of dc link voltage control which is proportional to speed of the PMBLDCM is used in this paper. The stator currents of the PMBLDCM during step change in the reference speed are controlled within the specified limits by an addition of a rate limiter in the reference dc link voltage. The effectives of the proposed control strategy of PMBLDCM drive is validated through simulation results.</p>

This article represents the torque ripple performance of modular multilevel converter (MMC) fed brushless dc (BLDC) motor using different current control technique. For reducing the ripple current in BLDC motor, a phase-modulated model predictive control (PMMPC) technique has been proposed. The stator ripple current is almost negligible using PMMPC. This PMMPC current control method is a significant minimization of torque ripple in BLDC motor. A comparative torque ripple behaviour of MMC fed BLDC motor has been done using phase-modulated model predictive control, model predictive control (MPC) and proportional integral (PI) control at different switching frequency. It has been observed that a PMMPC current control technique is more efficient as compared to the MPC as well as PI current control technique. It has also been observed that the torque ripple performance is improved while using PMMPC as compared to the MPC and PI controller. Simulation results have been verified with the help of experimental result and these results are obtained in good agreement to the simulated results.

In this paper, Zero-Voltage-Transition (ZVT) two-cell interleaved boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter for voltage source Inverter (VSI) fed permanent magnet brushless DC motor (PMBLDCM) drive has been proposed Scheme reduce the torque ripple of BLDC motor drive and also reduce the switching losses of VSI for Which an auxiliary circuit is designed and added to the interleaved boost converter.  For achieving soft switching, only one switch is used in auxiliary circuit which reduces the torque ripple and switching losses. In this proposed control strategy, the DC link voltage is controlled with interleaved boost converter which is proportional to the desired speed of the BLDC motor. In this paper, six switch and four switch VSI is also implemented with interleaved boost converter topology. A comparison is made between the six switch and Four Switch VSI fed PMBLDC Motor drive and Torque Analysis as been done. To validate the proposed work, results are presented. The results showed that proposed converter control strategy operating under soft switching mode improves the efficiency of the drive system with PFC feature in wide range of the speed control.
